What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Good-looking knife Jim
Thanks Jack !!!

I'm blown away with the fit and finish on this one. It's as good or better than any GEC/Northfield/Tidioute I've handled. There is NO blade play what so ever opened or closed. All seams and transitions are spot on. I read one report of blade rapping on the back spring (non-lock back, different handle configuration) but I don't have that issue. This is a well made, substantially constructed 4 1/2" lock back folder. No half stop, very smooth walk and talk with "bank vault" lock up. Only 25 made at the time (2012) in this configuration.

I wanted a Ben Hogan lock back and searched EVERY authorized GEC dealer and this lock back made 01OCT12 was the ONLY Ben Hogan lock back listed on any dealer site. I figured being 3 years old, it must have been a return or something wrong with it ... BOY was I wrong !!! ... MAYBE ... it sat because no one wanted a #13 serial number, dunno. I think that just adds to it LOL.

I'm VERY pleased with this knife to say the least. Thank you GEC and thank you [Non-BF knife dealer] !!! ... Nice

Thanks Kitten Party !!!
I hope I feel the same way about a #42 Indian Paint Brush Missouri Trader lock back that will be here Tuesday ;)

Between a rock and a hard place?

Certainly not the problem for us Traditional fans, more spoiled for choice:D

The Osage Orange / Bois d'arc is darkening a little but it shows the stripes even more.

Thanks, Will

What a beautiful OO Will, I love it when covers end up striped like that.

I hope you all have a wonderful Labour day weekend everyone, it was amazing out and I had this one with me

Sweet Boker Congress, GasMan! I don't think I've ever seen that particular Boker shield before; interesting!

Been totin' this one for a few days now, decided to take it along on a trip up north to visit family. For the next week or so it will be my constant companion.

Nice toothpick, Duane, but not the one I expect to see from you!!:D:thumbup:

An Ocean Apart

Gadzooks, Gev, the one on the left is practically the Platonic ideal for a pocket knife!!!:D:cool:

...Totin' a Chestnut Bone Sowbelly today in CV of course ;):D

Just gorgeous, Ron! A chestnut bone sowbelly is right near the top of my "must have" list to complement Sodbuster Jr and swayback jack in chestnut bone CV that I currently have. ;)

....I don't yet have a pic of the knife in my pocket today, but I'll be sure to get one, it's kinda Ancient looking! :) ;)

Edit:

With big thanks to Charlie :)
Congratulations on that stunning scratted bone Ancient Barlow, Jack; fabulous gift!

Been on a Boker kick all week, so I might as well continue with this pen. Happy Friday (unless it's Saturday already in your time zone) :D

It is Saturday, Rachel, but that's because I'm way behind in this thread. (I may just have to give up this fine thread until Christmas; too time-consuming! :() Love your Boker pen! I looked at one like that in a cuchilleria in Spain; I thought the handwritten price tag indicated 18.3 euros (a bargain IMHO), but my daughter was sure it was 183 euros, an outrageous price. She lives in Spain, so I deferred to her knowledge of the local customs, but I occasionally kick myself for not insisting that we at least ask, since it's a fine little knife!

Pioneer today.

Pristine, pepperminty, Pioneer pic, Tom!! :p

The newly arrived 83 and the old cross.

Lemmy, in the photo that 83 seems to have a LOT of patina for a new arrival! It and the SAK are outstanding!

This chestnut bone Swayback Jack *may* have been the last NOS piece out there... I tracked it down a couple of weeks ago at a hardware store in Texas. But it's in my pocket today!

Congrats, major; that's one of my favorite knives (compliments of Paul H)! :D I think you'll love it!!

...I had another one of those mileage matches the Barlow model events happen today. Weird.

How do you DO that Dean??:confused::eek: Very cool pic!:cool:;)

...I was pleased with the way they turned out Mark. There was a small problem though. :o:o

I had them all finished up and was getting ready to pack them up for the trip back to Jackson and I wanted to know how they might look in my old Barlow display.

I only had a couple of the large dime sized super magnets left and put them on the back of the main blades and when they got close to that steel backed board, ker-whack !!!

They both are stuck to that board like I super glued them there or something. I even tried vice grips to try to get them loose.:eek::confused::confused::o:o

I know what Gevo said about sending old Barlows to Primble, but, it ain't true. I fully intended to send them back Mark.

So Dean - I reckon you had it right - these Keen Kutters belong to Primble now. Regrets Mark !!
...
Don't despair, Primble; all is not lost. Just send me your display board, and I think the physics department at my school has a massive degausser that will set free all those knives in no time. ;)

...I don't carry my No.7 nearly enough...

I know what you mean, Dan. I LOVE my Opinel #7, but almost never carry it, although I use it almost every day in the kitchen.

I picked the 79 workhorse whittler today

That is a stunning knife, FBC; superb patina!!

Two Masterpieces.

You can say that again, Dean!!

These 2 for the weekend.

Hope you all have a great one.

How are you liking the Opinel, Brett?

New knives, so of course I am carrying them both :D

...
Is that a 2-bladed 73, KP?? That's fantastic! :thumbup::cool:

New arrival today from a good friend.:D

...
Congrats, Bob; that is a very fetching knife! Way to go, Tim!

Really liking it. Nice and simple.

Had to switch to what came in the mail today though.

Very classy, I've been keeping an eye out for a deal on one of those! I will kind of feel bade when I get a patina over that great etch on the main blade though

I agree with KP Great pair and that fish shield is awesome Phil! Looks like the maker's mark is a John Lloyd? Good stuff~

Thanks Tim! It is a great little knife, very snappy, 52100 steel with a very thin hollow grind, cuts like a laser!

Here's an older picture that shows that sweet engraved fish shield a little better.

Very nice! I've been eyeing one of those - how do you like it?

It's one of my favorites. Very good fit and finish. springs are flat in both opened and closed positions. Spring effort is about a 6. I don't have a hardness on the 440C, but it holds an edge quite well. The olive wood is very comfortable in the hand. The sheepsfoot sits a tad high, but I don't find that it interferes with use of the clip. Those Boker folks do know how to design a clip blade. And the sheepsfoot is nice and thin. Recommended.
