What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Vayu, the 66 Calf Roper Jack is among my favorite GEC patterns and that mammoth just puts it over the top.

Le Compact by Chambriard again today, in juniper wood scales,

C'est magnifique!

Thanks, she's a really nice folder and the juniper scales smell great!

I spent a couple of hours clearing chaparral this afternoon. The work calls for thick gloves, making a pocket knife hard to use. So I carried this small fixed blade which Vince (VCM3) gifted me last year.

Lotta pocket goodies for Labor Day, Tim!:thumbup: Have a good one! (I think someone asked about the whale, and I was also wondering about its purpose/significance. Did I miss the explanation?)

Some of the knives I'm carrying this week are:
a Chinese Schrade 44 OT

a Rough Rider electrician

and an Imperial serpentine jack and a Case peanut

Haha it's a sticker from a most recent family trip to Cape Cod from a store called 'Vineyard Vines' it was in my wallet so I decided to pull it out. Thank you GT
I really like that imperial serpentine jack, the jigging on the steel covers gives a really nice contrast.

Indeed. Useful as well for detailed work such as moving small pebbles to uncover the garnets. ;)
The good looking pup is actually my sisters. She's a sweetie and a real mountain dog.
The little white guy on my mothers lap is my our's ( my wife's and mine ) :D

Very nice set up today! Seen your No 7 last week made me start carrying mine again.
Your Corgi looks a very very happy dog in all you pics! Must have a good life

Ah I've yet to take my pup up in the mountains for a hike but soon he'll endure. Already has his own pack loaded out and everything.
Opinels make amazing field knives and slicers. :D Glad to hear you're carrying yours
He has the cushiest of lives. Pampered and cared for but very well mannered :)

Back home and straight into the pocket this one went! :D
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Labor Day Holiday ;)

Hope you had a wonderful one as well Ron, 2 blade TC's for the win~

I'm leaving early in the morning, heading over to see ScruffUK and ADEE, with some birthday presents for Thom. Slipping my newest oldest Barlow in my pocket ;)

Glad to see that one on you so consistently on you Jack, the scratted is my favourite of all the handle covers

These two have been my companions while building the girls play house.

Below are some pictures of the finished product.

Amazing playhouse JSCHENK, I showed a couple of my art/architecture friends this and they were blown away that it was a playhouse :) Oh and that scout aint' half bad either ;)

I was suprised, a little, to see this one came hair popping sharp. I may have to eat a few strawberries today.

That's a very nice looking one Brett, the yellow rose is mighty sweet~

Dog day today

Thanks, it's a high power lens that was used in glass container inspection equipment that I picked up recently, when I saw the curve of the lens I had this shot in mind and the handle fit like a glove :)

here's a spine shot of that knife resting against the side of the lens, and both lens and knife are on top of some smoke Plexiglas above a light box...

Thanks for the details, Gary. :) I always admire your photos, and have found threads in various subforums in which you explain your set-up. I can take OK photos outdoors in natural light, but my indoor pics need major help! I'm experimenting with some ideas (including a light box) I got from your descriptions of your "apparatus" in hopes of getting the kind of indoor lighting I think I need.

That sure is a marvelous "gentleman's knife"!:thumbup: I doubt if I qualify for owning one!

Thanks GT !!! Nice red and the jigging on this presidential is some of the better I've handed
Jim, I noticed that you switched to a blue Sodbuster later; did you eventually pull out a white knife to go "full patriotic" for the holiday? ;)

Thanks Gary (GT) I really like the #73. That ole Imperial is like one I carried for years as a boy...scary how sharp you can get those old carbon blades, brings back great memories:thumbup:

Thanks, Paul and Tim. :) Maybe millions of people used to carry an Imperial like the one I posted. That particular knife is one that my wife found in our house one day (she thinks her dad probably gave it to her years ago when he got a new knife) and put at my place at the kitchen table back in January 2014. I had such a good time cleaning it up that I decided I'd start carrying a knife again like I did as a kid back on the farm. And that's how the addiction started for me! :o:o

Vinifera and 5K, thanks for the nice words about the little RR Eureka Stockman. It's model number 406.

Thanks for the info, Jeff; sure is a cool knife! :) Are the handles red jigged bone, or something darker?

Thanks GT -

I guess it good I kept my shoes on then. I like that shield on the Rough Rider. It's good advice.
:D
:D:D Thanks for the comment on the RR electrician. :) I really like that "message shield", too, AND the spearpoint blade has a 2-inch ruler engraved on the back side!!:cool:
