You guys have me wanting a nice slippy pretty bad, I've got a few Rough Riders inbound to get my bearings.

A four-blade Stockman with a caplifter tool, a Moose, a Muskrat, and a some sort of two-blade half-hawk style.

This one was out and about with me today.

When some people complain about CASE's finish "these days" I think they need to take note of quite a few of their patterns including this one. In terms of fit&finish I can't fault it, at least not by my standards: Gaps? No. Blade play? None. Blade centre? Very nearly. Good snap/pull? Yes. Arrive sharp enough to shave arm-hair? Yes. Mark&pile sides matching in colour &jigging? Yes. Pins finished equally? Yes, 2 domed, 2 flat. End spring (in this case wraparound) cut off cleanly & finished? Yes. Grinds? As shown, rather uneven on one side.

Nor was it expensive and it's an unusual pattern. However, I've never really warmed to the blade size to handle ratio. Yes, I know this was the designer's intention but I feel it would be a much better knife with a slightly more substantial blade, as it is, the blade is rather like an old quill knife. Too small in my view. Quality cannot be faulted though.:thumbup:

A Taylor-Schrade 93OT

This pattern rings a number of my chimes.

I believe this is the same photo (93OT) that I saw and rang my bell last week??? It caused me to order one even though they are Chinese now. While I was at it, I also ordered a Chinese 97OT Buzzsaw Trapper to replace one (USA) that I passed on buying too long at a lumber yard before I retired. Then found out Schrade had sold to Taylor a little later on. Been kicking myself ever since then. :chargrined:

I dunno. It is what it is. Taylor/Chinese or not, it seems to be a decently made knife with decent blade steel. Feels about equal in quality to the common Schrade and Camillus knives I grew up with. A GEC it is not, but neither were they.

^^ Looking good Jack, I sure do like those scratted bone ancients!

Outstanding! Primble that bone is superb my friend!:thumbup:

Thank you for the comments guys. I really love that old Catt. A spear and a clip in one knife - what else can a feller ask for? :D
