What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks Kris. I've been lurking for a bit :p I've missed SO many nice knives, wow. It's been good for my wallet, and that's about it :)

WOW ! Almost forgot about the RJ since I had not seen it in your pocket lately. Use to be toted quite a bit, as I recall. Feeling the love today, I bet !:)

Yes indeed, I could easily manage with just this knife I reckon. Like my Ancient Barlow I had to go cold turkey on it for a while! ;) :D

I've got the mighty magnum with me again, I really like the tiny thing.

Just got this one in, it's not going to be an EDC for office Mon-Fri as the blade runs a full 3.25" but I wore jeans to work today so I couldn't resist.

That's really oddball seeing an F. Dick pocket knife! I love it!

Here's a crop from their www.dick.de online catalog
It's located under "Ancillary items for chefs" ...

I've actually seen two versions of this pocket knife.
Here's a pic of the other one I've seen online most often, but interestingly it is not on the Dick website
Nor is it the one I wanted ...

Again, this is mine
I got it from Baryonxy (member here) http://www.baryonyxknife.com/allknivestools.html ... the only place I've been able to find it in the US.
He may not have any more in stock right now. You'd just have to check.
The site will allow you to "add to cart" but if the cart pops up empty in spite of the click ... there isn't one available.
I didn't email Baryonyx, but I checked off and on for several months before this one was available again.

Fit and finish is good, especially for the price point. Ergonomics are good with the finger groove handle.
The Olive Wood is smooth with no finish what so ever.
Light sanding to remove small amounts of factory crud you may see in the picture and now it's ready for some type of preservative.
I haven't decided what to use yet. I may not use anything but oil from my hands as I carry and use it and as it ages.

F.Dick has been in business in Germany since 1778. Their steel is good. The liners on this knife are also steel.
No nail nick. No half stop on this lock back. There is a single swedge on the mark side.
The hollow ground blade looks to be 1/8" thick and ready to work.
It's lightweight since it has Olive Wood handles and is a lot of knife, carried nicely.

I'm very happy with this knife and have always enjoyed doing business with Baryonyx. :)

Thanks Jack and cchu518 !!! :)
Seems to be a great utility knife and will be a good beater. Carrying it again today ...

EDIT: Indoor shot of the pile side. Notice no swedge on the pile side. Wish there was this kind of grain on the mark side.
Wood on both sides is the same color but outdoor vs indoor lighting and my camera make it look different. The outdoor shot looks closest to the true color of the olive wood.

Really digging this 83 I just picked up in a trade. I thought it would be a little bigger but find it to be about perfect truthfully

Welcome back Nathan. That #72 looks well loved :)

Thanks Trand. It is well loved indeed and I'm still very thankful it's previous owner was kind enough to part with it :) It's been a long time since I carried it, it's actually what inspired me to hop back on the forum today

Very nice Robb! I am carrying the Sunbrite Acrylic version of the same knife.

Crown lifter ones able find in those dark pockets after a drink or two… Brilliant. ;)
Great contrasting picture Erik

Good looking picture to capture an equally good looking knife! Very nice

I think the size is what's drawing me to those 83's. Like it in that micarta Shane

77 on a sunny friday to finish the work week.

Northfield Che Chen Rosewood Talon today:
3091tax.jpg

My Talon is one of my favorite knives, but your Che Chen Talon is one of the most beautiful 92s I've ever seen. I'd have a hard time keeping that one out of my hands.

A treasure, Rob!

I'm carrying my favorite Farmer's Jack again today.

Since most of these just arrived within past few days (and not all of them are meant for me), I carry them all just to be able to admire them when no one looks :D
- John Lloyd swayback jack in 51200 steel
- Case small Pen SS knife (with scissors)
- Northwoods Willamette whittler, blue camel bone, 1095
- Norhfield #38 grinling whittle, burned stag, 1094

Case "Rough Black" Humpback Stockman #63046. Spear, spey and sheepfoot SS blades. Nickel silver bolsters, brass liners and "gum fuddy" covers which - according to Case - emulate the synthetic handle materials utilized during WWII when traditional materials were scarce. Pull is 9/10 on the spear blade, and 11/10 on the other two. Its a tough cookie to open.
