Brother Jim - I'm used to seeing F. Dick kitchen cutlery, I've never seen a folder from them. Tell us more about this one.

Here's a crop from their www.dick.de online catalog
It's located under "Ancillary items for chefs" ...

I've actually seen two versions of this pocket knife.
Here's a pic of the other one I've seen online most often, but interestingly it is not on the Dick website
Nor is it the one I wanted ...

Again, this is mine
I got it from Baryonxy (member here) http://www.baryonyxknife.com/allknivestools.html ... the only place I've been able to find it in the US.
He may not have any more in stock right now. You'd just have to check.
The site will allow you to "add to cart" but if the cart pops up empty in spite of the click ... there isn't one available.
I didn't email Baryonyx, but I checked off and on for several months before this one was available again.

Fit and finish is good, especially for the price point. Ergonomics are good with the finger groove handle.
The Olive Wood is smooth with no finish what so ever.
Light sanding to remove small amounts of factory crud you may see in the picture and now it's ready for some type of preservative.
I haven't decided what to use yet. I may not use anything but oil from my hands as I carry and use it and as it ages.

F.Dick has been in business in Germany since 1778. Their steel is good. The liners on this knife are also steel.
No nail nick. No half stop on this lock back. There is a single swedge on the mark side.
The hollow ground blade looks to be 1/8" thick and ready to work.
It's lightweight since it has Olive Wood handles and is a lot of knife, carried nicely.

I'm very happy with this knife and have always enjoyed doing business with Baryonyx. :)

Awesome! I haven't seen any with the uniform red. Most have lots of dark color on the edges. That looks great.

The mark side scale on this 77 has lost it's darkness a bit (the pile side looks as it did when new - darker where the saw-cut texture is). This lighter side is the side that faces my leg as it sits at the bottom of my right front pocket. I suspect that perspiration has taken some effect on the dark stain applied to the scale at the factory. The knife always sit oriented in my pocket the same way, hence the different aging process of this side here. I'll update pics over time as this develops.

That wood has a really beautiful luxurious look to it. Some people appear to abhor the Cloud shield but I think it goes impressively with wood scales. I have a 38 Whittler in the same and I find it's darkening really nicely, giving the grain more depth.

It could be because I've recently discovered the wonders of Coconut Oil and been wiping down my stag & wood knives with it, gives a great shine and after all Rosewood is Coca so it should suit. Smells great too :D:D

Fine knife that one Primble, looks like it came out of a workshop a century ago!

Regards, Will

The #15 helped me collect some fruiting heads of a magnificent Sycamore tree:thumbup:

Interesting that you call those Sycamore's? We call those Plane trees over here....:) they look very similar (even have similar names in Latin (Acer pseudoplatanus (sycamore) and Platanus (plane). Platanus=plate like, describing the leaves:)

Great pic of a great knife too:D

Thank you Will and I made a note about the Coconut oil. ;):)

WOW ! Almost forgot about the RJ since I had not seen it in your pocket lately. Use to be toted quite a bit, as I recall. Feeling the love today, I bet !:)

Beautiful knives everyone!

I've been carrying this Nontron knife for a few weeks now. Not seen or talked about much around here. It's similar to an Opinel but with a much older and richer history.
