What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Carrying these two today :)

The more I see of that Boker, the more I like it. That color is fantastic and the patina is top notch!

These two today.

A Barlow and a toothpick tick a lot of boxes. If you had a trapper among them it would be a perfect loadout. :p I think I like that 'pick with the Damascus, too.

Going to carry this one, on loan from Eric, thanks for letting me handle and carry this beautiful piece by Ohta for a bit.
Couldn't wait to take some photos in that morning light.

A beautiful clip point with a 100% symmetrical swedge. The first piece of work by Ohta that I've handled.

You "ohta" show it off more often.:D

Now in the daylight:

That copper bolster has really taken a beautiful patina. I can't seem to find any of those doghead Ka-bars for under $100 (yes, seriously), but if I manage to find one without an outrageous asking price I expect I will be adding it to my collection. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Dan! It is zebra wood (or zebrawood?), my first experience with it. I really like it, the small open pores give it almost a textured feel. Today with my beer scout:

I think I may have just decided what kind of Bark River to get. :D

I spent half the day in the ER with a kidney stone yesterday. A lot of pain. Hoping to scare it today by carrying my doctor's knives and just maybe it will pass. :o

The Pillbuster at 3 & 7/8 inches closed, 1890-1940 era:

John Primble India Steel Works Baby Doctors Knife, circa 1890-1940:

 I hope you are feeling better today and those stones are behaving with that doctor's steel nearby. The scales on that baby doc are phenomenal!

I don't expect this knife to resonate much in here, but I'm kinda proud of it. It's one of the few items belonging to my grandpa that I received after his passing; I just recently rediscovered it after almost 15 years. I polished the shield and bolsters, cleaned the MOP and gave the blades a little spit shine and sharpening as well. I maintained a portion of the patina but healed it of it's scratches. It's been in my watch pocket since.

Looks like a fantastic job resurrecting that peanut, your grandfather would undoubtedly be proud that you carry it with his memory in your heart. Great work!

That's the best kind of knife, not the customs or the GECs/CSCs with the polished unicorn horn scales. :D

It was a Tip Top kind of day for me :)

This recent spate of awesome Barlows in this thread is definitely right up my alley. Beautiful piece, Ron!

Today's loadout (again, sans Spydy - I hope I'm not outgrowing the pocket clip ). The bottom two are obvious, the top is a Primble half-Congress I've had for a while and wish I knew more about (though I'm inclined to think Camillus circa 1960s).

Some light reading and a cheap knife.

I like your idea of cheap. Lol

Well, i got home and switched it up. I really like this new (to me) Davison. So into the pocket it goes while I enjoy a crown unwind. I managed to use an exacto and fish the g10 under the wharncliff kick the previous owner had installed. It was definitely functional but the less proud lie suits me and it's still not a bear to open. I use the clip much more anyway.

There is probably a separate thread for "A Handful of Favorites" but these are the knives from which I usually choose my daily companion. Most of them are gifts from family which is probably why they mean a little more to me than some other knives that stay in my drawer. Like Stuff_Things, I am lucky enough to have one of my Grandpa's knives (the Black Kutmaster).

I will post a description of each one in the days ahead.

I was 550+ posts behind. But the following MoP pen and the Red Fox and footprint were highlights. Man, work needs to just not be so hard. December+January is always so brutal. I miss keeping up here.

Some lovely knives today folks :) I hope everyone has had a very pleasant Sunday

Not sure if it's traditional enough for many here, but a knife I've owned for quite w few years and for some reason sits right with me. Not fancy, quite cheap but the warmth of the redwood is nice. No pocket clips, no one hand flicks snap scare the masses here.

Nice inlays. :)

Thank you very much, that's a great line-up

As is this

Again my little jack at work with me.

Thanks Joe, I scored that 1920's/30's IXL within an hour of my granddaughter being born, cost me around $15 and it didn't look like it'd ever been used. It was a good day :)

Knot withstanding....Knots Landing....:barf: :D Really pleased with this one, hoping to snap a shot of it with its counterpart from 2014, also a fantastic example. I feel very fortunate:thumbup:

Tim - Eric is a trusting guy to turn that beauty over to you for a look see!;) That is one outstanding OHTA! :D:thumbup:
It was a Tip Top kind of day for me :)

Haha indeed Ron I had initially only asked for a couple photos in hand and size comparisons. It's in the pocket again today

The sawcut on that Camillus is top notch. Matches one that was shown by Jeff/JPrime

Beautiful knife Tim

Thank you Jack, Ohta's work is great.

Haha TsarBomba, here you go for today

Had this for a while but it's never seen any pocket time. I figured that it would be a decent choice for "Wooden Wednesday" as well a a few drinks with friends after work. Viva l'italia!
