What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Glad you're on the mend Primble. I missed your ailments scanning pictures without reading much. :(

Killer patina! How'd you do that, if I may ask?

Thank you Joe. I am guessing mustard on that patina - maybe he will come along and tell us. ;):D

Carrying these two today

Fine pairing Jack ! Unusual pattern for me to see from IXL. Was it a common pattern back in the day?:thumbup::)

Great news, Primble! I hope you feel like your "old self" ASAP! ;)
- GT

Thank you GT - getting there, but, not quite a hundred percent yet.:)

I've been carrying an Ulster Barlow the last couple of days, been in a Mark Twain state of mind. OH

Ulster_Knife_USA_11G_Barlow.JPG

Nice old Ulster OH ! I put mine in my pocket early this morning. ;):D

carrying the Case Barlow today (bottom knife) along with my modern folder of the day. Sorry, no pic of the Case alone yet, but the top is an AG Russel Gunstock with beefy 0.15" blade stock.

Nice pair ! I like the looks of that AG Russell, even with the odd nail nick.:D

Very nice TC Primble and I really like the Case Saddlehorn Jeff.
I went with a couple of small ones today. A Norfolk Whittler and a Vic Beginner.

Thank you Ken. A very nice whittler !:)

I'm carrying this Soup Bone TC Barlow. One of those knives I thought I'd never own.

You got a nice one Dean. Hang around long enough and you never know ! ;):D

The one that started it all - IMO.:thumbup::thumbup::)

Almost forgot, I am totin' my old Ulster Barlow again:

Thought this one might call in our friend Gevonovich today. You never can tell when he appears and disappears - like Houdini ! :D:D:D:D:D:D

I like the stockmans GT and Mike! I haven't posted here in about a week as I keep carrying my usual two Davisons. Decided to carry something different today.

Thank you, but I actually meant the food item! :o :D

Garden of Life Raw Protein - it's a box of trial packets I was opening to put on the shelf. Good stuff, though, that I actually eat (drink) at home.

(I'm the vitamin manager at a Natural Grocers.)

As for the patina - big lots mustard and a couple q-tips!

After using mostly the Peanut for EDC stuff, this feels like a sword!
I'm trying to channel my inner Ryouchijtx for this pic. Tim, could ya give me a few pointers? I love the way your pictures always look.

Thank you Mr P, hope you're feeling better today  I think the main blade was originally a Spear, so yes, a common enough pattern. Apologies for the poor quality of this pic

Beautiful Ulster

That is a real purty knife Jake !

+1

I visited the GEC factory yesterday with my wife. As always, a worthwhile visit. Getting to chat with Bill and William Howard is always the highlight, but so is bringing a souvenir knife home. This trip, William helped me in my selection and pointed me in the direction of a knife that had never actually interested me before. My wife thinking it was pretty sealed the deal. So today, I am a Riverboat Gambler!
Thanks GEC!

My freshly modded saddlehorn today, after carrying the unmodded original version yesterday. I'm very pleased with the result.

I'll have to let you know, this is the first day I've carried it. So far I like it's rugged simplicity.

Please do, it's a very interesting knife and thanks for the answer - I too like its simplicity.

Very nice! Camel bone? I have the Osage Orange on the way

No sir, it's Mammoth Ivory. Congrats on your Osage on the way.

Hope next week is a better one for you

Thank you, Jack Black

Is that a GEC 85 of some sort? It looks spectacular!! Great picture!

Yes sir it is. SFO single blade run from 2012. This one is serialized #23 but the production totals sheet list the bare ends as being non serialized....anyone else know why this is??

Thank you Mr P, hope you're feeling better today  I think the main blade was originally a Spear, so yes, a common enough pattern. Apologies for the poor quality of this pic
Beautiful Ulster

Thanks for the catalog pic Mr. Jack. A little better today than yesterday - hope the same for you. Thank you.:)

Talking with Bill is a real treat, so I know where you are coming from. Looks like he steered you in the right direction - nice !!:)

Glad you found a Saddlehorn Jeff !:)

I am so bad about being consistent here.
@Primble... thanks for making this happen a while back!

I thought that I traded you the antique yellow Scout !?? Regardless - a fine looking knife and pic !:D
