What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Wow man that thing is sexy tell me more about this knife.

I did, but I'm getting cabin fever! :D
It certainly is a most useful tool  What's that you've got there?

It's an Esonyx original, made prior to the release of the can-opener-equipped GEC Scouts, with a unique one-off mesh composite cover. There's a thread about it HERE

That patina is so RIGHT on that knife, Comeuppance!:cool:

Thank you! I need to polish off the other side and re-do the patina so that it matches. The other side is just muddy-looking from my initial attempt with a lemon.

Thank you, but I actually meant the food item! :o :D

Ahhh Friday.... :)

sounds interesting, i wonder can they move the blade to the locking side? would you have any links to see the mod, i would love to see this thing in camel bone.

Carrying these two today

Great pic Jack (the knife isn't too shabby either ;) :))

Tried repeatedly last night to post this, but no luck. Today I'll try posting a short reply and see if I can paste in my original as an edit. Aha! I found the "offending code"; Whetstone39, when I removed the evil laugh you originally included in your post I quote below, I finally had success in posting this. BF life is full of mysteries! :o

Thanks, Tom. I have several electricians from various manufacturers, and they're all quite dark-colored; this lighter plastic is a nice change of pace.
The fixed blade guy had some very attractive knives (1095 and bird's eye maple really caught my fancy), and I liked his story of driving down to his buddy's house in Indiana to use his forge to make some blades, then coming back to east side of Michigan to haft them. And he was asking only $30! But what would I use a fixed blade for? I don't see myself as primarily an art collector here (although sometimes I suppose that's not far from the truth :o).

Some of the knives I'm carrying this week tell a little story: A stockman took a canoe ride, caught a muskrat, and put it in a SAK.:thumbdn:

Sorry my evil laugh messed up your post GT, that is surprising as it was just several underscores . Maybe it was a kindly ghost in the machine of the porch trying to reinforce that this is a place of fellowship, where evil laughs are not appreciated :).

I think I would have snapped up that fixed blade in a heartbeat. My progression went like this: big folders, to medium folders, discovered scout knives and SAKs = Hallelujah!, then fixed blades, specifically small pocketable fixed blades. While I don't need a fixed blade for daily carry either, I think I just like the simplicity of them. I seem to keep evolving in this hobby :).

Nice pic of the Marbles sir

I had a dream last night. I can't remember it, but I'm sure my yellow rose was in it, so it's going in the pocket today. Maybe I'll remember. Maybe it means nothing. Maybe it means Marko will visit.:)

carrying the Case Barlow today (bottom knife) along with my modern folder of the day. Sorry, no pic of the Case alone yet, but the top is an AG Russel Gunstock with beefy 0.15" blade stock.

Thanks for the comments Jack and Stef142.

Very nice TC Primble and I really like the Case Saddlehorn Jeff.

AusLoX, HST and Wundergussy spectacular mammoth on all your knives.

I went with a couple of small ones today. A Norfolk Whittler and a Vic Beginner.

I'm playing catch-up with this thread again.

I have strayed for several days but never too far from my favorite :D

That's a might fine looking favorite there, Ron! What are those handles made of?

Everyday since I received it!

I think I would be, too! The 38 pattern is one of my GEC favorites and that Kryptonite is so beautiful I became weak looking at it. But that could also be because my native sun is red. :)

Wow, Gus, the mammoth handles on that Madison Barlow are fantastic and look really old! Oh, I guess they are. :)

This one has taken over my right front pocket for the past couple days.

 A great photo of a great knife!

Carrying these two today

Love the story you made from your carry knives, Gary. That stockman has fantastic bone and it looks like it is on an Uncle Henry 897UH frame (my favorite stockman)

I'm carrying this Soup Bone TC Barlow. One of those knives I thought I'd never own.

Back to this Canton Cutlery today. Appreciate the fact that this knife served someone through the Great Depression and World War II and now it is in my pocket. It should outlast me and serve admirably for decades to come.

I had one of these I bought 15-20 years ago and in a moment of poverty I sold it at a flea market. Seein' a pic of not only the same pattern, (Camillus #23) but the identical advertiser :) a member saw fit to gift this to me a while back. Thanks Dan M for providing today's back pocket carry the enormous Camillus #23 Equal End or Cigar Jack.
