What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Great display by every one today! I pocketed my Davison mammoth to show a friend today. Didn't get pics. Was a busy day and recently showed my baby off here anyway.

Totin some Bocote today

Thank you Ron. Great wood on those Ron and Curtis.:) I think I might have cut something with that ole beat up 73. :D

Hope you guys don't mind me joining in. I am pocketing this slim little 66 today and have had it in heavy rotation over the past couple months since i picked it up.

I have one on order, so very glad to hear you are liking it. I really like single spring knives.

Love them pinched bolsters.

Just be careful opening both blades on a single spring knife, if they're properly heat treated and everything is perfect it should never be a problem. In 40 years of collecting I've heard of it happening about a dozen times and have found the resulting broken spring knives in many a cigar box at the flea market, I've even had one break on me that way.

We all do it for pictures as it's a standard pic for a knife,(I'm as guilty as the next person), my only advice is if you do take a pic like this try to do it on the half stops or at least in a position with the least amount of strain on the back spring.

Just my 2 cents, YMMV

'Tis mammoth

Second time in three pages. Nothing wrong with that though. I think maybe 10-15% of the camel bone on Northwoods are absolutely phenomenal while the rest is merely good to great. Almost all of the mammoth they seem to get is top tier though.

Very nice! Camel bone? I have the Osage Orange on the way

Beautiful mammoth on all three Northwood Madison Barlow knives. I love the blue but i'm particular to caramel brown colored mammoth similar to AusLoX's.

new to this side, but this is my edc. fits perfectly right next to my billfold and is always handy.

Tried repeatedly last night to post this, but no luck. Today I'll try posting a short reply and see if I can paste in my original as an edit. Aha! I found the "offending code"; Whetstone39, when I removed the evil laugh you originally included in your post I quote below, I finally had success in posting this. BF life is full of mysteries! :o

GT I thank you! You know, if your turn your back for a bit all manner of things happen, but at least with this thread you can rely on it to go roaring on, not like the stove if you leave it unattended :mad:
...
Regards, Will
Good point, Will; this thread has a life of its own and doesn't need me to keep it rolling! That's a relief!!

It's good to see all of those knives again GT, and in at least one case, there was one I missed the first time round

Thanks GT, I like that Electrician's Knife
Thanks, Jack. :)

...
I'm still carrying my Presidential every day. :)

I'm still admiring it every day, Dean; such rich color on the covers!

...
Thank all of you for the well wishes and the humor. I needed a smile. I am very very very very happy to report that I passed the stone late this afternoon and am feeling much better, although the powerful pain medicine wrecked my stomach. I never had one before and hope that I (again) nor you guys ever have that experience. :o You guys (and your knives :D) are the best !:thumbup::) Thank you, once again !
Great news, Primble! I hope you feel like your "old self" ASAP! ;)

Thanks GT! Your electrician is a beauty!

So you have been tempted enough to at least explore the traditional fixed blade Dark Side?...
Thanks, Tom. I have several electricians from various manufacturers, and they're all quite dark-colored; this lighter plastic is a nice change of pace.
The fixed blade guy had some very attractive knives (1095 and bird's eye maple really caught my fancy), and I liked his story of driving down to his buddy's house in Indiana to use his forge to make some blades, then coming back to east side of Michigan to haft them. And he was asking only $30! But what would I use a fixed blade for? I don't see myself as primarily an art collector here (although sometimes I suppose that's not far from the truth :o).

...
I'm well down the pecking order of ailments I'm afraid, but have had a cold for the past couple of days :o I blame it on giving up alcohol for January, I can just feel those germs swooping down on my detoxed blood like Yorkshiremen let loose in a pie factory! :D

I hope you shake your cold soon, Jack. Rather than blaming health setbacks on going alcohol-free, you should view the change as an opportunity/investment! Think of the knives to rival your Watchpocket Barlow you could buy, essentially "for free", with your budget reallocation! :p (I need to take that approach with my 1 year and counting without cigars; I've saved at least $1/day - that would be a significant boost in my knife budget!! Gotta go explain this to my wife! :D)

Can't keep this one out of my pockets:D Remarkable snap, really good F&F too.

Will, I fear you're being drawn into that woody vortex!! Lovely, but dangerous!

Have not carried a TC for a while:

Must be difficult NOT to carry that superlative knife!:thumbup:

Just in...Northwoods Madison Barlow in mammoth tooth. My new favorite.
...
Congrats on that absolutely stunning Barlow, AusLoX!!:cool::thumbup:

It's Wooden Wednesday all week for me, as I've been alternating between these fellows:

What a commendable couple of cutters, Rachel!:cool: How are you liking the blade combo on the holiday Buck?

At work:

That patina is so RIGHT on that knife, Comeuppance!:cool:

Splendid old Colonial electrician's knife, dlazo! I picked up one just like it last weekend, except mine has whitish smooth handles instead of dark sawcut ones.

Some of the knives I'm carrying this week tell a little story: A stockman took a canoe ride, caught a muskrat, and put it in a SAK.:thumbdn:

Nice selection Jack - you are well knifed for whatever may come. Rachel posted a picture of her Buck Holiday tin in the Buck forum around Christmas which lit me up - I still like it. I've been carrying an Ulster Barlow the last couple of days, been in a Mark Twain state of mind. OH
