What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Chief/John

All I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW!!!

I really like mammoth and have a few in my collection, however, that has to be the ultimate/most spectacular, etc., etc., etc., mammoth scales I've ever seen.

Could you please show the pile side?

Nice knife!!!

That's almost eerie - I was just thinking earlier today "How would a lanny clip look with C-Tek?"

The answer is clearly super freaking great.

Today, I'm giving this little guy a test-drive. I'm off work now, though, so I don't know if it'll actually see any usage as much as carry and fondling.

Thanks Tom, it was a gift frfom Mr S Porch sometime ago :) Another great pair you're carrying today

Thanks Jack, cool gift from a cool member

That's a fine pair right there.

Thank you btmccutcheon, a fine CS you have today

Thank you Tom - those two knives compliment each other so well - both are wonderful ! That old fixed blade pocket sheath is becoming well worn !:)

Thanks Primble, that sheath could use some Sno-Seal but it fits in my right front pocket just right. :)

Knives come and go but those gifted will always remain, thank you Dean!!!

Paul, you are such a kind and generous person not only in your giving, but in also in your gratitude. You are quite welcome, my friend.

That's phenomenal, Dean! What's the old tool in the pic, some kind of awl?

Actually, the tool is a screwdriver edge on. One of my Dad's old tools and a favorite user.

Nice TL-29, Gary.

5K, the Presidential has red pick bone scales.
Thanks, bozack; that red pick bone is very refined!

Going by the sheepsfoot peeking out from behind the clip, I'm guessing it's a GEC #66 Calf Roper stockman.

(Sheepsfoot lowered slightly by lightly filing its kick; I lowered it a little more soon after taking the picture.)

I've always thought this photo was inspired (and maybe even inspiring)!

Tomorrow for sure:

Very dignified! I'm impressed by the jumbo jigging, Jake!

...
Nice selection you have there :)
...Carrying these two today :)

Thanks, Jack. :) Same to you!

You're certainly well-equipped with that pair, OMR!

...
Stag and soup straight edges for me today:

Supremely stellar stag and soup, Primble! That TC is SO memorable!

Sticking with this tiny Senator from last night.

Very nice, and quite a change of pace, Mike! Just how tiny is that little pen knife?

...
GT, the Cadet II has the pen blade. Sorry to disappoint you but I don't have an Electrician Plus.
The closest I can come to it is a well used Pioneer Harvester where the previous owner modified the pruning blade into a sheepsfoot.

Today it's this years forum knife, pile side, and the Vic Pioneer Harvester.

Wow, not disappointed at all, Ken! That modified Pioneer Harvester is a creative substitute for an Electrician Plus, and has my mind seething with future plans! :D:cool::D

...Semi-matching pair for me today.

Great pair, Tom! My first reaction was, "I wouldn't dare carry those in winter for fear of losing them in the snow." But then I saw the crimson lanyard on the Beer Scout and thought, "But Whetstone is a man with a plan to avert disaster!" :D

It has been a long time since I posted in this thread. I see many new faces, lots of familier ones and oodles n oodles of beautiful cutlery. There are some truly super photographers on the porch these days.

paul
Welcome back, Paul! Hope to see photos of some of your fine knives, but maybe a photo now and then showing the current status of that handsome lad of yours!

New here, but I've lurked for a few months. Carrying the little Esquire today.

Sublimely sophisticated!:thumbup: Welcome, and what a grand entrance! :D

...
GT The Queen Small Stockman was the White Carved Stag Bone edition, they certainly do age and yellow like most white bone knives, the photo might be a bit of an exagg as it was a winter shot, but not much.
...
Back to single today though, GEC Ivory Bone Boy's

IMG_3724.jpg
Thanks for the "color commentary", Will. :) Your Ivory Bone reminds me of butterscotch - quite yummy, I'll bet!

That's a fabulous mod of that old Klein; I love seeing that knife!:thumbup:

A new acquisition facilitated by our own Railsplitter. 2007 Cannitler in Royal Blue Bone and D2. Thank you for the heads up Rick! I'd been looking for one like this for a while. Forgive the adhoc photo.

Congrats, btmac; that cannitler is a total knockout!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Looking good as always GT and thanks.
Thanks, HST. :)

This was my carry for the day. I have owned MANY traditional patterns and although I have a few GEC #38's this is the first CASE Seahorse. This arrived in the mail from RDaneel along with a Vintage Russian coin from 1818, this is the oldest coin I own:thumbup:
...
Simply put...WOW!!! Thank you Dean for a rare wonderful knife, and coin:thumbup:

Somehow, I missed this, but saw Primble comment on it! Congrats on the deluxe gifts, Paul! Kudos on your ongoing generosity, Dean!

...
Thank you GT - that black ALOX is a beauty ! ;):)
...
Thanks, Primble. :) Alox isn't as warm or natural or organic as smooth wood or jigged bone or gnarly stag, but I'm still drawn to Alox.

...
Then I got home to find this guy sitting in the mailbox, so now it's replacing the Pres.

Nice! Is that the straight secondary you decided on? ;)

7cfba41cd75166b1e4c60b81b5c8c19d.jpg

I had a difficult time choosing, so went with three.

You'll end up like GT if you're not careful, he's shrunk by 3" since he started visiting this forum! :D ;)
JSCHENK, don't let Jack talk you out of carrying as many knives as you want to! Perhaps my physical height has decreased by 3" from carrying a dozen knives a day, but my self-esteem, my perceived height, how tall I FEEL increases at least an inch for each fine folder I carry, so in my mind, I'm walking TALL! :D:rolleyes::D (Besides, it's a monster knife that weighs as much as 4 ounces, right? So a dozen knives weigh substantially less than 3 pounds, I'll bet; my day-to-day natural weigh fluctuation can approach 3 pounds, depending on "digestive factors". So a few knives in my many pockets is no burden to me!! :p)

Nifty Nieto, Comeuppance! I visited my daughter in Spain about a year ago, and came home with several Spanish folders, but no Nieto. I looked at several while I was there, but always seemed to like something else better at the time. Your pic is causing me to have second thoughts! :o (My Spanish Joker below has a blade that reminds me of your Nieto's blade.)

...
Actually, the tool is a screwdriver edge on. One of my Dad's old tools and a favorite user.

Nice TL-29, Gary.
Thanks, Dean. :) That TL-29 is one of my favorite knives; I think it looks incredibly distinguished. (But until I get better at sharpening, I don't want to risk messing up it's full but dull blade.)

More of this week's carries for me include:
a Joker with asta autentica handles, from Toledo, Spain

a Swayback Jack (thanks, Paul)

Thanks GT. It certainly is a change of pace. The specs say it's 2.5" closed, but it feels even smaller. Here's a comparison shot with a 15 for reference, and a Case Eisenhower.

You have some nice choices this week too. That Joker looks very comfortable, and who doesn't like the SBJ? :)

Two great looking barlows you've got there.

My new sardinian resolza

I just love the blade shape on those.

New here, but I've lurked for a few months. Carrying the little Esquire today.

That is one classy knife!
Oh, and welcome.

Two outstanding displays of mammoth!

Awesome pic as usual.

Oooooooo! I like that! :)

+1

That thing is cool! Ive always wanted to see c-tec first hand. It really looks like some neat stuff.

Sweet little pen for a change,

Sweet little pen indeed!

Thanks, it is.
I'm always glad to see the Joker and SBJ!
The swayback is getting quite a bit of character. I like it.
