What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Love the rams horn!

Ice has cleared enough to get to work today. Ram's horn Cuban stockman for me.

Nice selections! always wanted a cheetah, didn't know how practical it was to carry, but hey, they have a cool factor!

Still in Halfstop mode today. I have had these two for a long while. A 1965-1969 Stag Canoe, model 52131 and a 1976 Stag Cheetah, model 5111 1/2SSP. Both are near mint.:

and then an old Catt showed up in the mail this morning, so after a little blade sharpening, I slipped it in my coat pocket.

Really like that combination in your knife, very sweet.

Do you use a photo hosting site? I'm always at a computer so I save my photos onto tumblr as drafts and copy the image URL to post into the photo url attatchment option.
If you're on a mobile..then I'm not much help.

Haha such fluff to accompany your 76 Peter, great shot.

Beautiful 15's Jack, aha that wallet was bought because I lost my ID once already while on my motorcycle. (I store it on my tank bag and I guess while filling up some petrol/gas..it fell out. Needed a snap securement. The slip and wallet are both made out of Horween leather, my favourite for leather goods.

Thanks Primble, I've earlier pieces from several makers and each one stuns me with how solid their work was from the beginning.
That cheetah is really nice and the Catt tops it off.

My pick of the day for a Mondaze

This one everyday til I get something new.

That looks awesome in hand, Cooper! I hope you love it, and thanks for supporting Bob!!

There's something about the Antique Autumn/Amber/Yellow color spectrum that really speaks to me. It's where most of my knives are.

Wow! That is gorgeous!

Thanks my friend, nice wallet, thanks for the back-story :) That's a great photo of a beautiful knife

Not quite sure how it happened, but I've developed a real affinity for almost any canoe pattern! But Mike, calemerson, Jack, and Primble, your canoes are definitely NOT just any canoe patterns!! Choice canoes, each and every one!:thumbup:

Both beauties, Jack!

Thanks a lot GT :) That Canoe was my very first Rough Rider (now rests with ScruffUK). Would I be right in thinking that young lady is currently in Barcelona? :)

Yeah, Gevonovich has guts! He stares down bobcats! :D

:D

GT, it's a handful, comparable to a large sodbuster. The rubberband ball is baseball size, took a year to make it from spare rubberbands at work a while back, I wanted to shoot it with a .22 magnum hollow point. ;)
Thanks for the follow-up, Ted. :) (Did you shoot the rubber band ball, and if so, how did it fare?)

...Nice Mighty Mite there, and it looks like you have a picture of a sweet mighty mite next to it. :)

If I had to pick my favorite traditional pattern, it would be the Bareheaded Jack. Something about it just says good old-fashioned pocketknife, yet there are so many variations of handle and blade shapes.

I believe that the previous owner of that congress filed down the kicks on the blades to keep the tips below the frame of the knife after years of sharpening. Eventually he had to grind or file out some cutout reliefs to access the blades. I suppose if you buy a knife during the Great Depression, you don't just throw it out and get a new one if it can still be made usable. :D /That's part of what I find so appealing about carrying it.

Nice tri-fecta!
Nice touch with the picture! Daughter?

Thanks for the compliments, Rachel, Mitch, and Jack. :) And Jack is correct; the little picture in my photo is more of the nostalgia that my interactions with pocket knives tend to invoke in me. My daughter is now 27, blond, and lives in Madrid; in the photo, she's only a few months old, with her black "birth hair" that fell out before she was 6 months old, I think.

Rachel, I enjoyed reading your thoughts about your favorite traditional pattern, and your conjectures about the history of your venerable Case!

Excuse the quality, Flickr seemed to be having server problems saving some of the touch-ups to eliminate glare or fix contrast issues.

TsarBomba - A beautiful Appaloosa Case there and a great photo also!

Ice has cleared enough to get to work today. Ram's horn Cuban stockman for me.

Yeah, Gevonovich has guts! He stares down bobcats! :D

I only wish I had the skill to get close to one on foot, r8shell:D

I was driving through a heavily wooded area in College Station and he was chasing something across the road. I only saw a flash to the right and then him coming from the left, on the other side of the road. I hit the brakes and he zoomed in front of me, across the road and into the thicket after his quarry! It was a bright crisp cold day so I got a good look and thrill

Ron
Keep the red bone beauties coming....wow! Your driving Primble into a game of dueling red bones;) Thanks for your kind words.

I would have missed r8shells comment so Thank You, Jack!

Slipping these two in my pocket today

The Rope knife and TC will serve you well my friend !:thumbup::)

Just a side note...I saw a magnificent bobcat yesterday!! What an experience....wow! He was one of the biggest I've ever seen. A sign I think:D

Did you pet him or stare him down ? What good luck did you encounter ?:confused::D

Primble

Oh my heart!!! Lovely lovely lovely

Thank you my friend ! I love the old Catt !:D

Thanks Primble, I've earlier pieces from several makers and each one stuns me with how solid their work was from the beginning.
That cheetah is really nice and the Catt tops it off.

The best of the best in the forum knives, IMO !:)

Nice new kitty, Primble, love the long pull secondary and the gorgeous wormgroove bone.

Thank you Jeff - I was excited to get it.:)

Rob, I love the knives you post but Man o Man that Catt is drop dead gorgeous, I love the worm groove and long pulls;)

Thank you Paul - I posted more pics of it in the Catt thread. Wish there were two of them. ;):)

Nice selections! always wanted a cheetah, didn't know how practical it was to carry, but hey, they have a cool factor!

Thank you Mitch - not very practical for me as I like 3.5ish for carry. ;):)

Wow! That is gorgeous!

Thank you Mr. Jack ! :)

Thank you Mr. Halfstop - I notice you don't have much trouble following ! ;):D:D:D Beautiful Rat !:thumbup:

GT - thank you for all of your nice comments - good to see you back. The weather was in the mid forties today and a lot of our snow melted. Supposed to rain tonight and that will melt some more. The wind carved snow drifts were quite beautiful, I must say. Lastly - I cleaned my outdoor photo spot off today, so I am back in business. ;):D:D:D

Keep the red bone beauties coming....wow! Your driving Primble into a game of dueling red bones;) Thanks for your kind words.

I have a couple red bones lined up for tomorrow, in fact ! Aready have the pictures ready too. That dad burn Volunteer is giving me nightmares ! ;):D:D:D

That RR looks better than some knives 5x the cost, plus it's always more special when gifted. Great carry!

Thanks TsarBomba, it is my first RR and I am quite impressed with it, a very solid scout knife.

Beautiful Barlow!

Another fantastic pair of knives, Tom, and I think at least the third different sheath I've seen this week!

Make it four sheaths! :D Love the black and white combo!

Knives for this week include, among others, these three:

Thanks GT! The second one is not actually a knife sheath, but a carry case for an Arkansas Oilstone that belonged to my dad. I found it recently, and know nothing about it but am keeping it for sentimental reasons.

Terrific Trio sir

Ron, you're becoming the Red Bone King with all these 70s Case beauties!

That red bone is really outstanding. As is the Appaloosa above.

Ron
Keep the red bone beauties coming....wow! Your driving Primble into a game of dueling red bones;) Thanks for your kind words.

Dean, Robb, and Gev - Thank you all for the kind words. I am fortunate to have started collecting during the early 70's.:)

Thank you Mr. Halfstop - I notice you don't have much trouble following ! ;):D:D:D Beautiful Rat !:thumbup:

Primble - Thanks friend, that is my only Rat.

Oh no Primble! If you start staging pictures the night before I am in trouble!:eek::D I got one in the mail today I can get pictures of tomorrow if it don't rain. After that I will have to dig my roll out of the safe.:) Now if I can only remember the combination to that darn safe!:eek::eek::D:rolleyes:
