What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

The covers on that Schrade look a lot like a Kent jack I picked up on a lark. I wonder if it's a Schrade product too...

I see your illness hasn't impacted your knife-judgment. :) Get well soon!

Thank you! :)

Wonderful carries and pictures today everyone!

Gev - Quite a trio of old beauties my friend!

Jack, your Jolly Roger photo made me realize that I've got a few pirate knives close at hand, too. If I were sailing the high seas in search of booty and plunder, scaling the mizzen-mast and swilling grog in the fo'csle, I imagine that these two would be likely on my person, the smaller one in the pocket of my muslin trousers or perhaps my calico waistcoat, and the large navaja probably worn at the waist, tucked into my colorful silk sash, at the ready in the inevitable event of a quarrel springing up as a result of someone's cheating at bones. ;)

Almost forgot, but I can't let this one sink without saying something. I'm a big fan of larger blades, in particular the (grand-)daddy barlow and the full sized Coke bottle, as some of you folks may have seen.
This one that you've posted is just too cool! Big ol' daddy barlow, but with the added bonus of a secondary spey blade...!? Take the best part of a trapper, and stretch it out to fit a frame that's just about the perfect size & shape IMO, and you've got a real winner. This Case knocks it right out of the park!
- Alex

(Maybe it's the background that's got me so smitten, subliminally...? Nahh, couldn't be.... ;) )

That's a fine-looking congress, Randy, with a rather unique blade combo, I think!! I don't recall seeing congress knives with one large and 3 small blades. That RR red is very vibrant! Cool knife!

...Today was WW so I hastily snatched a Case on my way out the door because I'd already pocketed Mac and my EDC challenge knife, the pearl Keen Kutter. Mac's taking a day or two off from posing for ego control. :p :D

Both of those knives are complete knockouts, Tsar!!:eek::thumbup:

Tsar Much appreciate your words on my Forum Knife. I'm really delighted with it and the pile side is no horror either...Fingerprint grain

Thanks, Will
Thanks for the shot of the pile side, Will; I'm delighted just seeing a pic of it again! To say that it "is no horror either" is an understatement of the highest magnitude!

...
Gary - Thank you! :) Lovely bone as usual my friend! Don't be too hard on yourself, just BUY SOME EBONY!!! :D

I am still under the weather so this old Schrade Cut. Co. should handle anything around the house today! ;)

20604535544_2c4536e904_b.jpg
Thanks, Ron. :) You're right, I should clean up my act and get some ebony! ;) Kinda been stalking an ebony canoe with the same birthday as me! Hope you're starting to feel better; that Schrade looks like good medicine.

Couple of splendid knives, Bloefield! Is that Camillus totally unused??? How does it compare, size and shape-wise, to the 61OT you recently posted?

A newly arrived WLST (it's my first) getting some pocket time today.

...
Congrats on the new 25, Mac! When I see those WLSTs, I usually think "little knife with big heart"! ;)

Taking to the high seas today

Faultless knife and fantastic lanyard, Jeff!

Found this old gem and tuned it up! The blades took a razor edge and it still has terrific snap!
Gem is right, Ernie!! That French ivory shadow pen is SUCH a winner!

...
Felt like some blue today :).

That's some VIVID blue on your Farmer, Tom! I have to start prioritizing all my knife wants and budgeting to come up with an Alox rainbow! :o

Thanks, GT. Natural lighting usually partly cloudy sunlight filtered through my blinds; nothing special.

I like the bone on that RR Barlow!...
I'm having soup for lunch today; I probably won't drop this soupbone in it though.

Thanks for the lighting tips, Dean. Rough Rider's amber jigged bone is very satisfactory, IMHO. Not nearly as distinctive as the beautiful pale soupbone you have, however!

...
I have this little Boker with me today. I like to CE & CF this one.
P1010061%201.jpg
Super stylish little Boker, Gary!

...
My two today are a Grohmann in stag and a Swissbuck Taskmate I.

ZvG6pTKl.jpg

Have a great day all!

Ken K.
Intriguing pair, Ken! I've heard of SwissBucks, but know nothing about them. That stag Grohmann is striking!

Great photo, Sarah! My color sense is not to be trusted, but FWIW I think the blues and browns of the knives and crockery complement one another quite grandly!

...
Thank you GT :) As for the Jolly Roger, you never know when you might have trouble with the neighbours! ;) :D I bought the flag for a mutual friend, but figured I could get a pic out of it! :o ;) :D
...
Thanks for the pirate's tale, Jack! :)

...
I already know RR makes a nice medium Barlow, but I really dig that fisherman too. I ordered an acorn-shielded dogbone jack today, maybe I'll leverage the wonderful low prices of RR to help bide my time until I can budget a proper amount for knives in the future (aside from the money I'm already putting aside in hopes that Charlie's dynamic leadership takes us to the promised land of a '16 forum knife :D).
...
Went a little nuts on carries today -- I pocketed Mac and the week's EDC Challenge knife, then on the way out of the house I snatched not one but two Barlows to add to the pile. I guess I'm testing the notion that if everything's better with a Barlow, then it must be twice as good with two. :D
...
Congrats on the RR dogbone jack, Tsar! Can you provide more info on the Old Hickory Barlow??

Wonderful carries and pictures today everyone!

Tremendous trio, Gev! Would you be so kind as to identify the knives, so this old man can advance his education? :o

Rousing tale, puukkoman! (Am I supposed to have rich fantasies like this about each of my knives??:eek::p)

My kitchen knives this week are holdovers from last week's pocket carries.

Thanks, GT.

Those are some stunning TC's fellas!

I really need to get a congress.

Two gorgeous knives you've got there, but that Case in particular is quite the looker.

That really is an outstanding pic!

Fantastic trio, Gev!

As always, GT, that Joker looks great!

My britches were a little on the heavy side today.

Whenever I start to fondle this one I wonder why I don't carry it more frequently.

Thanks, That one is unused.
Camillus #69 and Schrade #61 are very, very similar.
Top one is my user/favorite-of the Camillus's.:)

Could be, Alex. :D I thought that variant was so cool when I got my hands on a bone mint centennial daddy Barlow (discussion about modern Case red bone notwithstanding :o) but I didn't have the guts to carry it. Once that factory blemish listing came up and I noticed it wasn't selling I had to make a move to get it at a good price, because I intended it to be every single bit the user. The move took me well over 3 months to pull off, and I may have overpaid by about five bucks or so, but it was totally worth it. It's my giant Barlow-trapper and it's gonna see a lot of back pocket time, I imagine. :D

Both of those knives are complete knockouts, Tsar!!:eek::thumbup:

As always, those Jokers are real beauties, and you know I like that half hawk. :D

That Old Hickory Barlow is etched as an Ontario pattern 606 with composite faux-wood handles, as you can see, but it's quite clearly built on the venerable and clever Queen integral bolster/covered backspring frame of the mid-20th. If pressed, I'd estimate it to be a 1980s knife. This style of Barlow is a personal favorite of mine since I got my first Queen in this tacky "jigged" yellow composite on the bay, and that particular Old Hickery is my user -- I've got the same knife NIB that will probably stay that way as I build up the Queen-related esoterica in my collection, but it's such a light yet sturdy knife, and the clip profile is as close to ideal for a Barlow as I've seen, that I ended up buying a second one and turning the "lesser" one into a user. This weekend I was planning on grouping some of my Barlows together for some photos for the related thread, so perhaps I'll pull out some of the Queens with this frame that I've acquired and document the Ontario's bloodline.

It's a little better on my tablet but not much, plus the multiquote doesn't always work properly on it. I usually just stick to my laptop. :o

Thanks for the compliment! The 11031SH is such a classic pattern, I can't understand why Case wouldn't bring it back for, at the minimum, a limited run every couple years or so. That walnut makes an old workin' knife look all sorts of classy, I think.

That's a great carry all around. What kind of wood is that on the Buck? It looks really good on that knife.

Thanks, That one is unused.

Nice collection of stock knives. The top one is your nicest one, I think, being the oldest and with the best patina. Is it also Delrin or are the scales bone? Thanks for sharing! :)

This lot of slackers were lolling about, :D no such luck for me today it's all rush. On top of it all the snow came back wet & heavy overnight and I've got to get the car across town for a service...:(

So, I picked out the 66 Slim, he hasn't been out for ages and is looking dull minded The fresh air and pocket will do him good:thumbup:
