What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

It is TB, I think they look great too. And the blade came screaming sharp as well, I am overall really happy with it :).

My love of pocketable fixed blades relegates my single blade folders to house duty mostly, so I am giving my Lloyd Lanny's Clip some air today.

I was thinking the same thing this morning apparently.

It is factory through AG Russell so I think it is probably a SFO. However, I think it would look even better on a larger knife.

Thanks, HWS. I'm going to have to research the availability of those scales but I would probably pay an unreasonable sum for one of my favorite Case patterns dressed in that color and material. :D

I was thinking the same thing this morning apparently.

Are...are the pod people coming?

Wondrous wood, Dean! What's the deal with the "moneybag" on which they rest?
- GT

Thanks, GT. The moneybag is what they used to use to ship one dollar coins in. This particular one was for 25 of them. I got it at a coin show for a quarter, I thought it interesting and a good backdrop for photos.

I carried this New Day copperhead TC Barlow on the hike today, outside and inside photos. The New Day Barlows seem to have a very solid feel to them.

This week my rotation also includes an A Wright senator in stag and a 2014 Forum knife with covers modified by Markesharp.

GT, I've seen pictures of your forum knife before but I love the bone and hammered pins. Mark did a great job on making it look 60 years old.

I've been working out of town for the last week with another week to go. 'Ol Lizard Skin is all that I needed to bring for my time here.

Wooo! that makes me twitchy seeing such a pretty knife so close to a file.

:D The files were actually out for some work I did to my 77 barlow. No peanuts were harmed in the making of this picture. :p

Really nice picture and knife Cory!

Thank you for the kind words.

Sweet stag knife and cool photo, Cory! I have to admit I don't recognize maker or model; can you educate me, please?

Thanks, GT. The knife is a Northwoods Peanut from the days when Dave Shirley owned the brand. My family made a trip to the UP this last weekend and we made our way to Knives Ship Free. I found out once we were there that they're not open on weekends, but Derrick was kind enough to meet us down there and show us his shop. I let my daughter pick out a knife for us to buy, and this is what she liked. It's not what I would have typically picked, but I've really enjoyed carrying it this week. Being picked out by my daughter and buying it in person from somebody like Derrick makes it special. I'll definitely be stopping by that way next time we head up to the North Woods. Hopefully, I can make it during their normal business hours and we can spend some more time picking their brains.

I've really been slacking on singeling out some of these extra fine knives lately.

Absolutely magnificent mammoth!

A real lambsfoot and a real peanut!

Sweet lambsfoot you've got there.

That backpocket looks great, Ron!

The TC looks great, but that IXL is quite the looker too!

Fine looking peanut you have there and that cut out for the pen is a nice little touch.

That is a stunning Hogan.

Another fine peanut!

You have been carrying some fine duos lately, Dean!

I'm not sure which is nicer, the gesture or the knife?

Another fine viper!

Beautiful lambsfoot jack, Jack!

It's good to see the ancient come out and play.

Just got this S&M Heritage and playing around with it today.

Those heritage jacks are some very classy looking knives.

My coffee totin' knife for this morning before my trusty Opinel started the day.

Man, that one is just stunning! I couldn't read the name. Who made it?

And another great viper. That green bone turned out very nice.

I love the senator, but that forum knife is quite spectacular!

That one stops me in my tracks every time, and the photo is quite nice. too.

Love the lines on those Russells, and while I generally don't care for the dual nail nick/long pull on any one blade it just kinda works with the angles and texture of yours. Plus that gorgeous bone is outstanding and the finish on the steel completes the package. That is one incredible folder.

Thank you for the compliment. I bought the knife originally as a result of interest in AG Russell knives. At the time "traditionals" didn't interest me persay, but there was something about the Regular Jack that caught my eye. Fast forward 5 years or so, and I'm in a full fledged love affair with traditional patterns. I now have a drawer full of GECs, handful of Case, and one Queen. My appreciation for this Regular Jack has grown as I get other quality traditionals to compare it to. No half stop, but the walk n talk has every bit as much "clack" that my GECs do. Centered blade, rock solid - no blade play, and as you mentioned the jiged bone is something special. Can't remember the price, but I know it was closer to $50 than $100. Love it when you appreciate a knife more after years of ownership than you did the day it was acquired. Definition of a "keeper".

For some reason :) , I've had awls on my mind lately, so I've been carrying this old Western Stockman this week.

Thank you Mr. Halfstop and the Rosewood snake is very fine !:)

Thank you Primble.:)

This may have been the year of the Viper so far but I have a feeling once those 77s get going that'll change. :p That's an awesome 47 for WW, regardless. Great knife!

Thank you.:) We will have to see what the 77 lineup will be.

Voluptuous Viper, Ron! How about a group shot sometime of your Vipers in all their variety?

Excellent Viper Ron

Today it's a GEC 92 and a Vic Classic.

Have a good one!

Ken K.

Thank you Ken.:) Nice pair today.

That backpocket looks great, Ron!

Another fine viper!

Thank you Sir.:)

When I left home this morning I chose the Maroon Linen Micarta Viper in anticipation of today's mail delivery.;) It will be a Linen Micarta Viper again on Friday.;) But it won't be Maroon!:D

Got my 47 Viper in Smooth Oiled Bone today and had to slip it into my LFP as soon as I got it. RFP had the 73 Stag as almost always.

And yet another beautiful viper beautiful. I have a soft spot for smooth un dyed bone.
You guys are really making me regret not picking one of these up when I had the funds.

Thanks SSS : I now have something to match up with my 77 Barlow Smooth Bone , just like yours only with a single blade.

Your story is so similar to mine. My first knives were anything but traditional, but eventually I caught the bug and really started to develop my own likes and wants for the old patterns and materials.

It's funny how a "flawless" custom can go for nearly a thousand dollars and yet we sometimes become most enamored with the users that didn't even break a C-note. :o

For some reason :) , I've had awls on my mind lately, so I've been carrying this old Western Stockman this week.

Awl's well that ends well, so long as you don't get hooked.

Frankly, Harry, if I had stag like that I probably wouldn't let it get too far out of arm's reach either. :D

Thanks for your kind remarks on my carries of yesterday GT !!!!!
Your carried some very nice ones today my friend !!!! Maybe you should make that A. Wright an EDC.

The knife and times of a theologian... I've been carrying this one for a few weeks now, and I am loving the size. I would love to get a TC, GEC, Northfield, or other nice Barlow someday, but being a poor Bible nerd precludes me from having my dream knives. This one is just nice enough to keep the cravings at bay for now!
