What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

…These two for me today. Hope everyone is having a great weekend

The contrasting colors are appealing, Jack! That Maserin always sends me off on a web search!

Carried these for the thursday-friday

GEC Toe and Small Barlow.

Made sheath for the gigante. :)
Another appealing pair, with the contrasting sizes! I like the sheath with name!

Just this little one today.

That’s a looker! I’d love to see a group shot of all your canoes sometime!

Böker beer barrel whittler
Looks like whittling some veggies was no problem! How do you like the beer barrel handles?

Here's the Menefee after a few hours of hand sanding. I got all of the scratches out of the blade, backspring, pivot pin and the scales. Gave the scales a good buffing, sharpened the blade and gave it a good wash and oiling. Ready for use now!! (pay no mind to the little spec of lint by the center pin and a small piece on the blade)

On the previous day, I thought you were a little nuts, Jake, when you said you had to work on your new Menefee. I’d have been ecstatic if any knife I was rehabbing had looked that good. But I now see it’s all relative. Man, you did an amazing job, sir; that’s an absolute showpiece!

Very noteworthy knife, rinos!

…Spear point Fifteen

Epitome of class, Gev!

Rediscovered this barlow in my knife roll so it's getting some pocket time today with the queen senator in sheffield pearl.

Both lovely knives, but that checked pearl is unforgettable!

A 501 from the Buck Custom Shop. Cherry and S30V.
Perfection in a small lockback.

That’s a captivating knife, Frank; the knot in the handle is totally beguiling!

…Anyway, carried this beauty for Stag Saturday just because I thought it should be carried once in a while.

Have a good one!

Ken K.
That pruner is incredible, Ken! Practically everything about it is awe-inspiring: blade, blade etch, stag, shield! What a conversation piece! (Did you use it on shingles??)

Texas Camp Knife in a cross draw sheath.

Wow, you’re bringing the big-league leather lately, Buzzbait!

I have been carrying and using this one everyday for the last couple of weeks. Somedays i carried a larger knife with it, somedays i did not. Only once did i feel the need to reach for my larger knife. I even used it to peel potatos a couple of times. Great knife.

Jim
That Peanut is a real dreamboat, Jim; I enjoyed your “testimonial”!

Wow Gt , 1987 Calender from IH Case : I think that would have been the first year after we ( Case ) bought the International Harvester Ag. Division . That would have been the first Calender made by IH Case or Case IH .That would have also been the year that I received my 20 Year Pin and then I was around for 16 more. During all that time I usually had my Ulster in my RFP.

Harry
After reading this, I checked the calendar again, Harry. It’s actually from 1986; top half is a colorful rooster with the message “Let every day start with a song in your heart”, and 12 monthly calendars on the bottom half. I suppose it was meant to be a wall hanging, but I imagine my Mom repurposed it as a dish towel after the new year began. I’ll have to try to remember to take a photo with my Colonial Forest-Master. I and the Forest-Master spent many hours in our youth in the seats of IH Farmall H and M models, and eventually on a 630 Case.

…I’m carrying this one today, the closest thing I have to my Grandad's old Rodgers Bunny Knife

Fascinating knife and photo, Jack; are all of the objects in the pic mementos of your Grandad?

It is a lovely morning with equally lovely knives being posted by all! Hope you have a blessed Sunday. :)

Sweet 85, Ron; that is one of my favorite shield shapes and looks marvelous on your knife!

…Carrying the Davison that started it all for me. #1207, ATS-34, dyed and stabilized black and gold Box Elder Burl.

Hey, I haven’t seen that one in a long time, Jake, but the funky covers are sure memorable!

Terrific twins, GuestWho, but the photo seems physically impossible to my narrow mind!

2 Old Catts

…
Harry
Your Catts are sensational, Harry!

GEC 47 snakeskin acrylic. It is not easy to capture the gold color in a picture. It is brown until bright light shines on it.

Seems like I’m either totally enthralled by an acrylic cover, or it does nothing for me at all - no middle ground. This snakeskin acrylic is definitely entrancing to me! Congrats on your choice 47, Travman!

This weekend, as I've been doing for a while now, I carry whatever I want, regardless of the weekly rotation for Monday-Friday. This weekend, these struck my fancy.

Thanks for the kind comments GT !!!!!!
I also spent many hours in the seats of Farmall H's and M's as well as Case , Massey Harris , Minneapolis Molines , Cockshutt , and John Deere . The cream of the crop was a Farmall Super MD . That was even before John Deere came out with their 4 cylinder engines.
That is some pretty good Stag on your Canoe too GT !!!!

Harry

Did you guys know that some species of bamboo can grow up to three feet per day? After all the rain we've had here, I believe it.

Thanks for the comments on the Menefee Bob, Tonysal and GT. GT, I guess I am a little crazy but the knife had scratches all over it. It was well loved. Much more than the description explained. I liked the knife right away so I wasn't going to send it back and I didn't feel the need to ask Ricky to give it a once over for me.

Looks like new now!

Two lookers there Harry :)

Thanks GT. The pocket watch is my grandad's, the chain is broken, but I think may have belonged to his father (who was a coal-miner). My grandfather was a wire-weaver, being the sixth employee of Tinsley Wire Industries, which went on to be a huge firm here. He used a hammer like that one, marked with a number '6', and at one time, when he was still alive, I had it. Unfortunately someone borrowed it without my permission, and never returned it :( That's my grandad's wire-weavers union badge, which he always wore on his jacket. I don't have his knife, but it was a Joseph Rodgers 'Bunny Knife' similar to this one (a bit nicer I think). That's a great bunch of knives you're carrying this week my friend, not least this Uncle Henry

Great pics Gev

Carrying my Arthur Wright Lambsfoot in ebony again today, and my Anniversary TC Barlow :)

Those peppers didn't stand a change against the mighty whittler [emoji6] [emoji16]

The texture of the wood is quite course / grippy which I like a lot.

Imperial punch stockman. Not sure what the official pattern name is. Great quality on this one, no blade rub, great walk and talk. Interesting covers.

Great pics Gev

Now that is some nice soup!! Thanks for the fine compliment! I trust the back is shaping up?

Those Fiddlebacks are stunners to look at. Which model is that ?

Farmer for a hiking day...

Wow...what a view. Ring me for the next hike :D Great shot!

It's the Fiddleback Forge Bushboot model. A great size to pocket or belt carry. Andy and company are turning out some fine instruments at Fiddleback Forge. So many models to choose...

Gary
Thank you sir for the fine compliment on the #15. It's been a regular and is developing a nice patina:p

A nice cold day for a harvest. Thank you Paul for this fine Opinel:D:thumbup::thumbup:

Not sure if I have seen a stockman with a bottle opener before, very cool GT

Another day with the White Owl. This may be my summer replacement for the Presidential. Test in progress...

Great pic Dean

Nice pairing Jack. Curious as to the background piece for the TC?

Some buffalo horn for me today.

Fantastic pic Dan, hope you had a great hike

Thanks my friend. Aye, it's definitely on the mend - until the next time :( It's a holiday here, and I'm spending the afternoon reading about Zulu history and drinking Dragon Stout! :D
