What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Rediscovered this barlow in my knife roll so it's getting some pocket time today with the queen senator in sheffield pearl.

This 47 in my pocket today as i continue picking loquats from the three trees in my backyard. The light winter has been good to the fruit trees, i also noticed the fig tree i planted last year is starting to fruit.

For the first time in three months, I'm not toting my John Lloyd Dogleg Jack! I woke up in a Viper mood. :)

Thanks Chui and NJBillK...it's a smooth little knife for sure.

Kris, I love the fancy sheaths you always have made.

Dadpool, good to see you changed it up! You have to show beautiful knives like that some pocket time!!

OT: the dye got sucked out a lot the first time it got real wet. Anybody else experienced that?

Is yours in "antique yellow"? I had that happen with my Crown Lifter. It was a bit startling, as I noticed my hands getting a slightly jaundiced look, and didn't realize it was coming from the knife at first. :D After a few washings, it stopped, and the color has stayed stable. I figured they may have skipped a final rinse on that batch or something.

As usual terrific knives everyone!

It has been a busy last few days. Had the roof re-shingled.

Anyway, carried this beauty for Stag Saturday just because I thought it should be carried once in a while.

Have a good one!

Here's the Menefee after a few hours of hand sanding. I got all of the scratches out of the blade, backspring, pivot pin and the scales. Gave the scales a good buffing, sharpened the blade and gave it a good wash and oiling. Ready for use now!! (pay no mind to the little spec of lint by the center pin and a small piece on the blade)

The swedge on this one is outstanding Jake.

Thanks Chui-888, here are a few quick pics of the hamon and cut swedge, rounded spine, 1/4 inch hand forged W2, gotta love it! There is a reflection toward the end of the hamon in the pic, blade is ultra clean and polished. Some of the best grinds of any of my knives. Thanks again for the kind words, I always enjoy seeing your fine collection.

Kris, I always love seeing that Bose knife, but felt compelled to acknowledge the beautiful work on that rounded spine and cut swedge on the Craddock. That's a beautifully made knife.

I don't read Dutch; Greek is enough of a struggle for now! This book is actually "Man; The Image of God" by G.C. Berkouwer. I would love to read Bavnick eventually, though.
Pretty impressive “light reading”, Ben! ;)

Thanks for the kind words Gt !!! I always enjoy seeing your Joker again . The Horn Covers are really nice !!!

Harry
Thanks, Harry! :) I was doing some laundry today, and while digging through the drawer of dish towels in the kitchen, I found one with a 1987 calendar produced by IH Case. I must have picked it up from my Dad’s farm after my Mom died. It reminded me of some of your Case equipment logos.

I've been bitten by the Barlow bug - this came in today's mail.
Congrats, Atiger; that’s a winner!

…
Thanks GT, it's always nice to see your horn Joker :)
…I didn't get a chance to post my carry yesterday, my Watchpocket Barlow :)

Carrying my Davison today :)

Thanks, Jack. :) When I saw your Barlow photo, my first thought was “cheery”; when I saw the Davison, I thought “elegant”.

That snake acrylic is very striking! Congrats, bozack!

Thanks for the canoe info GT! One of my favorite aspects of the Forums is learning about unexplored patterns or blade shapes. Regarding blade shapes :) the pruning blade is ground on both sides, but rather crudely. I think I may be able to clean that up using the corners on my Sharpmaker stones, as long as I am careful not to round the tip.
…
A little blue with me today in support of the St. Louis Blues ;).

Thanks for the follow-up on your pruner blade, Tom. :) I like your yellow/blue pairing; tough start to the hockey series! :(

Soon after taking pic, knife took a bath in the coffee....

Whenever I see your knife, Erik, I think of fire! Hope the coffee didn’t put out the flames!:D

Thanks, GT! Nice shot of that Joker! Horn always seems to glow outside.
…
I'm giving this one some pocket time today.

Thanks, Dean. :) That's a splendid Ulster Barlow you picked up!

I got this 3.5" Menefee Drop Point in the mail today. It's cool, I like it! It has a 1/8" stock blade and spring so it gives the knife a good weight without overdoing it in bulk. The scales are nice and thin for this reason. Real nice swedges help thin the feel of the blade down as well. Really nice action, flush spring in all positions and everything is radiused super smooth.

It was used quite a bit, so it needs some touch ups. Hence, why I'm going to carry it for the rest of today, work on it tomorrow and throw it right back in the pocket.

Congrats, Jake!

The Pioneer joined me for another hike this week 4 miles of rough terrain but this was my view at the 2 mile mark.
…
You and the Pioneer are seeing some impressive vistas on your travels, btmac!

Texas Camp Knife is helping out with yard work today.

Wow, that’s a lotta knife and a killer sheath!!

…
But the CS forum knife has seen the vast majority of my attention over the past couple days doing some whittling in my free time. This knife makes one heck of a whittler!

Grand knife, and cool links-in-progress!

A couple of knives I carried last week were assigned to kitchen duty this week.
Marbles 5” leg knife served admirably all week, including helping me invent a salisbury steak and gravy salad today.

My MAM sheepsfoot also had plenty of vegetable slicing opportunities throughout the week gone by.

I have been carrying and using this one everyday for the last couple of weeks. Somedays i carried a larger knife with it, somedays i did not. Only once did i feel the need to reach for my larger knife. I even used it to peel potatos a couple of times. Great knife.

Wow Gt , 1987 Calender from IH Case : I think that would have been the first year after we ( Case ) bought the International Harvester Ag. Division . That would have been the first Calender made by IH Case or Case IH .That would have also been the year that I received my 20 Year Pin and then I was around for 16 more. During all that time I usually had my Ulster in my RFP.
