What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Delightful pics, Macchina! Does the river contain a lot of tannin?

Thank you! I love this river, a favorite place of mine. The river winds through miles of deciduous forest in 3 separate branches before arriving at this point. By then it has had hundreds of tons of leaves, logs, and organic matter steeping in the water. We call the water here "tea-stained" and it often varies from perfectly clear in the summer to 2feet of visibility in the Autumn.

Here is a picture of a spring that feeds into one of the three branches of the river. As you can, out comes from a very fertile land and has color strait from the ground:

Macchina, I think you need to start a thread that has photos from all your nature hikes. Your pictures always make me want to go outside.

That's a beauty of a Bulldog 25! Have you another shot that shows the bone off, I've not seen one so dark in colour before.

Thank you!

That's all I have at the moment. :o

Though, I'm pretty sure she'll make many more appearances..... ;)

Easy to sharpen, but quick to loose that scary edge, kind of wish it was CPM154 or D2.

Congrats on the new CV bone Sodbuster, FBC. I have one in chestnut bone that I like more than I ever thought I’d like a single-bladed knife.

Thanks, GT. The Sodbuster Jr. has claimed my pocket again. I really like the thin profile of this one, it makes for a comfortable summer carry.

Using an older pic here, but carrying one of my favorites.

Jeff, I absolutely love everything about that knife. You must be so proud of it. The pattern, bone colour, the banner shield, the threaded squared bolsters, the swedges over the long pulls and the beautifully nested blades... She's a beauty my friend. :)

Thank you! All of that - and the fact that I actually found it this year for sale brand new retail that had been sitting on a shelf since 2009. The thing was, that the vendor did not have individual photos posted of their knives (and it was a tad overpriced, and their site design was deplorable). I called them doubting the validity of the site, but they did confirm that they had the knife, and I bought it.

This isn't today's, but was yesterdays. Spent a long weekend with my brothers, cousin, nephews and father up north in British Columbia. Carried this little Silver Stag bird and trout knife. Manufactured in Blaine, WA which is where I was raised and much of the family still resides. Great knife for a fishing trip.

This is a 25" rainbow trout my brother caught yesterday morning - kinda dwarfs the knife:p

And a little firelight dancing on the stag and steel.

Had to give this one a second look. That smooth bone is absolutely incredible, love the depth and variance of the color and the sheer thickness of those handles. It looks "fast" (think F1 cars). :D

Joseph Rodgers Whittler with a homemade easy access notch for the pen blade:thumbup:

Some fantastic pearl on that whittler, and an excellent job on that notch.

The edge would last longer in D2, sure, but all the time you'd spend sharpening would subtract from your CF & CE time, and that's a shame with that beautiful mammoth.

I seem to have come down with the patina bug, despite my preference for stainless.

I really need to get a CV Soddie Jr., preferably that sweet chestnut jigged bone. I've got a red jigged bone in stainless but with Case I prefer CV if I can get it. Though I can't argue with that classic "YELO" (as marked on the box for the last few years). Great patinas, gentlemen.

Opted for the baby doc to accompany Mac and the 'yote again. Pic from last week.
