What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Okay...I pulled out all (most of) my Congress knives, and since it was raining...again...

Higo tsuchime today, with old recycled pic when it was new.
I made belt loop for the pouch I made previously, so maybe it gets carried now.

Blade is 2&5/8 inch long, just right for edc

Sounds great, thanks

Great pic

r8shell - Nice display of Smooth Ivory Bone and Stag  Enjoy your meal :D

+1

Looking good TB

Nice-looking Stag Jack there

Had this one earlier as I had some beer while piddling around the house.....

...and now I have this one in my pocket.

Two great-looking knives

I love these! :D Even more so, since I found a couple over the past few years, and realised that the "illegal inches" are actually centimetres! :D

Nice collection :)

Cool pic

Carrying my Davison today :)

That's a really nice pic of your Davison Jack. I love it with the backdrop of blown glass candies. I have a friend that does glass blowing. Amazing art form.
And speaking of your Davison, I haven't seen Stephen around for quite some time. I miss his posts. :(

Here's more pictures of the sheath. Decided to carry upside down because there is plenty of friction.

Thanks Bob, that's very kind of you, just taken on the kitchen table :) I found the glassware in an antiques shop on Saturday, thought they were kind of cute, though I'm not sure if there's any age on them :) I miss Stephen enormously, I sent some trinkets over for his kids at Christmas, and we exchanged greetings, but I sure hope he comes back one day

Nice work

What a fantastic knife and photo! The lighting shows off both the satin finish on the blade and the tone and depth of the wood. Beautiful! Is that Ebony or Blackwood?

Thanks my friend, it must be a fluke, I have a point and shoot camera, and a terribly lit (for taking photographs) kitchen! :D It's ebony :)

...
The monster in the middle is a German Bull jumbo Congress, model "GB-CE 214AGB" (even the model number is long). ...

Glad to see that funky Camillus 'rat making the rounds again, but my eyes are adoring that CV sowbelly (and trying to wedge it into the upcoming knife budget...). And thank YOU for the generous gifts that arrived today; I posted more about that in Rachel's "GT generosity" thread and the RR folders thread. :D
...
Stag Saturday started out wet wet wet. I finally got to leave cover and snapped a quick shot of a bunch of carbon-bladed knives in a very wet tree.

...
That is a load of Bull you have there, TB! ;) It's called a Congress because it has the standard 4-blade congress configuration (but not the swayback shape)? Thanks for the muskrat and sowbelly compliments; I'm quite taken with Case's chestnut jigged bone CV series, and that sowbelly is absolutely beautiful IMHO. (I also have the "matching" Sodbuster Jr and Swayback Jack; maybe the Peanut will be my next target.) Glad the RR half-hawk met your expectations, and I hope you can continue to "corner the market" on RR's smooth tobacco bone series!
Cool pile of stag in that tree!

Very cool photo, Erik!

Thanks, GT! It is fairly similar, although I much prefer the clip point on the GEC to the Case.

Thanks for the helpful comparison shot, Barrett. :) From the perspective of aesthetics, I too prefer the GEC clip to the slender Case clip in your pic. But when it comes to actual "pocket comfort", I sure do like the lower profile that those "Turkish" clips have in the closed handle.

...
I did thanks GT :) I've been visiting York for nearly 50 years, and I still discover new and interesting things there. By chance, I was at the entrance of St. John's yesterday, it's right next to the huge Minster, visiting students must find it pretty incredible. Thanks for the link my friend :)
...
I like your Stockman selection, evidence of more great forum generosity :)
...
I haven't carried my beloved Ancient in a while, so in the pocket it goes today, together with my Abbeydale Jack ;) Hope everyone is having a great weekend

You're welcome, Jack; I'll suggest your "summer photo" to the college WebMaster as a replacement. :D
Thanks for the positive comment on the herd of Stock knives I was tending this weekend; very nice knives from very nice people!
The Abbeydale/Ancient combo has the looks of an "instant classic"!

Great knives today folks :)

This beautiful ebony whittler for me this Sunday.

... Here's an old photo of it legs akimbo as it were;

...
That's a dapper dandy, Paul!

I didn't mean to be dismissive of the okapi, especially since I got mine via GAW.
I can't believe I've lost it; it must be under something.
I didn't find your comments to be dismissive. Speaking of finding, I hope you find your Okapi soon. :)

Yesterday was close to 97 degrees here. Today cloudy and cooler, only 61 at the moment.
I have my own sunshine in my pocket today. :D

Cheerful knife and pic, Bob! What are the orange blossoms in the background? They're very vibrant!

A brighter handle material for me as well Bob. Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend!

Here's more pictures of the sheath. Decided to carry upside down because there is plenty of friction.

Jake & A.L., your knives are definitely a step up in class from the usual Sodbuster and higonokami, respectively!! Very striking! A.L., that's a great-looking sheath, too! (I don't think I'd have the nerve to carry upside down though!)

Thanks, GT! The Simmons Hardware, Germany stag is indeed one of the Hornet knives (Hornet on the reverse of the tang stamp).

Very nice looking, hard to find Victorinox knifes there. Both of them ones I have looked for and never found.
...
I'm carrying this well-loved Robeson today.

Thanks for the Hornet confirmation and the Vic comments, Dean. :) I was admiring Ken's Alox collection, and he offered to send me some of his "extras"!!:thumbup: See Ken's recent post right below for more of his finds; maybe we should plan a road trip to Nova Scotia to visit Ken's "magic market"! :D
That Robeson is magnificent! Will you post some details about it, please??

...
Thanks for the comment Gary and you're welcome.
It was interesting you posted those knives yesterday. I was at the market on yesterday and picked up these. Go figure, what are the odds on that happening?

...
Today I carried these. A Case Seahorse Whittler and a Vic Ambassador marked Victoria.

Have a good weekend all.

Ken K.
You're welcome, Ken. :) Seems like pretty long odds that you'd pick up some of the same rare beauties on the same day I posted some of the ones you generously sent me! That Seahorse Whittler seems very fancy!!

A wonderful day to be Up North! Got to spend yesterday fishing with my brother who served as a . 50 cal gunner in the Army during O.I.F. Today I'm relaxing with my wife as we count the very last days until very soon arrival of our first child!!! I am carrying my New Day this weekend:

Congrats on the impending arrival of your first! My wife is 2 weeks away from her due date, and we're relaxing around the house ourselves. It's been a long, tiresome 9 months, and we can't wait for the baby to come!

Beautiful knife, btw. ;)
Macchina & Wurrwulf, I hope you gentlemen can stay relaxed as you head down the homestretch on this baby-birthing deal!!

...
I have been hanging around with some patina also today. :D

Couple of charismatic cutters there, Ron!!

...
I'm carrying white bone this weekend. The new Harness Jack needs a patina, so I'll have to sacrifice and eat a steak tonight.
Congrats on your new harness jack, Rachel; that's a spectacular knife and probably is worth all the sacrifices you have to make for its welfare!;) The background in your pic deserves to show up in the Stag Saturday thread sometime.

Had this one earlier as I had some beer while piddling around the house.....

GuestWho and Vaporstang, those are some incredible photos of some stunning knives!

Mighty handy in the yard this weekend

Unusual (to me, at least :o) Old Timer; what model is that?

Okay...I pulled out all (most of) my Congress knives, and since it was raining...again...

Quite an impressive congress of congress knives!

...
Carrying my Davison today :)

The Davison is looking as good as ever, Jack, and those glass candies are something I've never seen before!

It's a holiday today, but still a Monday, so a new week's rotation is in my pockets today. Among the knives in this week's allotment:
an Imperial BSA scout (thanks, Paul)

an Uncle Henry medium stockman (thanks, Keith)

always like seeing that RR stag canoe GT:thumbup:

Dunlap LC, but the Doghead barlow will probably see any work if anything needs cut.

Gary, the orange flowering bush is some form of azalea. The garden is my wife's specialty so don't ask me anything too technical. :D;)

Thanks guys!

A.L., that's a great-looking sheath, too! (I don't think I'd have the nerve to carry upside down though!)

You would with this sheath! ;)
Kidding aside, sometimes you get that sheath just mad fitting. That happened in this case.

It's supposed to rain on and off for most of the day today, so, I switched out my previously-chosen Böker peanut for a very, very stainless Rough Rider (and an even more stainless fixed blade) so nothing gets corroded if it rains on us while we're out walking.
