What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Evolution..... :)

Indeed.

Careful... Traditionals are a full fledged epidemic here.:eek::eek:
Nice Esky! Really need to get one of those Northwoods in denim Micarta.

Thanks! New to traditionals so I've got a lot to learn but I'm learning fast lol .
You'll love the denim Micarta because it feels so good in hand and has so much character .Oh and the Esky is the perfect size not being to small and not to big for my needs and comfort that is .
Great pull , walk and talk along With all that good stuff lol . It even has a flush half stop [emoji1303]
I was undecided going with the denim Micarta but so glad I did now .
I've got a Northwoods Madison Barlo on the way but not in macarta to mix it up a little [emoji4]

Just cut out all sugar and use the knives to sweeten things. Those sweet ones will do fine:D Thanks Gary ...always enjoy your comments!
Just checking the ABCs of my diet, I'd have to cut out (among countless others): alcohol, apples, baked beans, bonbons, bread, and chocolate!
Speaking of sweet knives, your two that follow, Gev, are quite disparate styles, "plain" and "fancy", but both very noteworthy! (For some reason, seeing Staglon always makes me feel good.)

... I like your classic line-up, three great knives. I particularly like the pic of your Electrician
Thanks, Jack; the photo is from TWO falls ago, but it's one of my first attempts at a knife pic, so I appreciate your kind words! :)

I love the cardboard cutout of the peanut that you always post with the knife GT. I don't know why but it always makes me laugh a little (not at you of course!!)
...
...
Thank you GT For my all my Mora knives I really do favour a neck carry set up. Usually run a leather boot lace because I prefer that to 550 cord other synthetics. I find that that in any season while outdoors the neck carry is always comfortable and very convenient for me.

Great carries there! Curious... How's the Walk and Talk on the cardboard peanut ? :D
...
Finish ( hopefully ) the work week with this in pocket.

Jake and Dan, that "cardboard peanut" you guys see in my apparently ambiguous photo is my attempt to whittle a congress pattern replica from a big blackened chunk of wood chip mulch I found under a bush at my bus stop once upon a time!!:D For what it's worth, almost everyone who saw it in person recognized it as a jackknife of some kind!
Dan, thanks for the info about carrying your Moras. That's a classy TC you chose to close down the work week!

...
Today I carried a last years Forum knife and a Vic Popular.

Ken K.
That's a distinctive duo, Ken; the grain on your Forum knife is splendid!

The rain has kept me inside all day so my carries have also been in "pocket jewelry" mode today. The Bower has been getting some CF for most of the day. I haven't even had a chance to clean it up properly, as it arrived yesterday, but I had to slip it in the pocket this morning anyway. :o

Congrats on the Bower Barlow, TB! That's a German brand I only heard of quite recently.

...
HA! I would have thought it would be peanut sized, that is surprising. Guess they did have more to cut now that I think about it. The zulu is giraffe bone, which is supossed to be extremely dense. It has a warm feeling to it and I really like the complexity.
Thanks for IDing your Esky handles for me, Tom; that giraffe bone is grand!

Boy howdy, you guys are posting up some real beauties !!! colour me green with envy :) I recently picked up this small Rough Rider whittler, 3" closed and rides in the watch pocket just fine and while it certainly needed to be sharpened up, it did so well and seems to keep the edge too. Has a split back spring, so one each for each of the smaller blades and combined for the main spear point blade.

Thanks Jake, it's an inexpensive knife that's surprised me by it's build and usefulness.

I'm not much of a proponent for Rough Riders but that one does it for me on multiple levels.
Rough Riders Rule!!:D Great photo of your whittler, Gary! This week I took delivery on a RR baby copperhead in red jigged bone very similar to yours. It was my first experience with red bone from RR, and I was VERY pleased with the richness of the covers. Once my camera batteries recharge, I'll try to post some pics of some of the new knives I picked up in my semi-annual buying spree!
(Actually, I have to admit that some of my most recently-purchased Rough Riders were disappointing compared to the 30 or so I've had previously. Two of them had bone handles that were BADLY mismatched from mark to pile side, and another had real gritty "action" during opening and closing. :()

Fascinating photo, Rachel; that Coyote has coloring very similar to a ripening strawberry! And congrats on your promotion to a new color of membership at BF (silver, platinum, gray??)!

Seeing this and your pictures in the #38 thread inspired me to change out my knives this morning.
I bought one of those Farmer Jacks when they came out, but I haven't used it yet. I just wasn't sure how useful or versatile these blade shapes would be. I'm going to challenge myself to carry this combo all weekend:

Best wishes for your challenge!

The glowing oxhorn never ceases to amaze me, Jack!

Bit of a change for me,but a pleasant one.

Ooo-la-la! Tres bon, bonzodog!!

pardon the bad lighting

That's a beauty, jrawk! The mini copperheads, especially with the wharncliffe main, sure have been grabbing my attention lately. I think it might be Will Power's fault with his frequent extolling of the virtues of single-spring knives!

Mine today:

Happy Friday!
Good to see your AG Russell scout again, Tom!

Cattaraugus Barlow today.

5K Qs, I find these pretty much the same way as everybody - shows, dealers, and even the big auction on that interwebz thingy.

I've just developed a strong fondness for old barlows. They're beautiful in their form and craftsmanship, they each have a unique history about them and a story to tell. A 50-80 year-old knife can wind up in a lot of pockets and see a lot of places in its lifetime. I guess it's true with all old pocketknives but the barlows just seem to speak to me.

Thanks to you and all for your comments - love this forum.
Thanks for your testimonial regarding Barlows, Atiger!!

...

Feisty Friday's carries:

I especially like that stag on the left! Can you tell us more about that one, Tsar??

FBC, your Kutmaster is "the berries"!!

They looked so good, I pocketed them all.

My attitude is, "The more, the merrier!" You get used to carrying a few extra ounces, and won't regret it!! :D

...
I'm a little bummed out as my hockey hero Gordie Howe passed away today.

My carries are a Vic in red for the Wings and a Northwoods in blue because that's the way I'm feeling!

Have a nice evening all.

Ken K.
Condolences, Ken; I hadn't heard the news until I read your post. :(

I am so far behind I am not going try to quote any of these pages full of beautiful knives that I have missed this week. However I sure am enjoying looking! :D
I have actually been totin' one or both of these all week. Sort of a rarity for me. Hope everyone has a great weekend! :D

Looks like a great pair to get a guy through a busy week, Ron!

In the kitchen this week are a Rough Rider full-size trapper and a cheap Laguiole:

Either way GT, I love seeing your creation lol. It's better than posting a pic with a knife and coin, it's very original!

5K thanks, I'm tempted to try another one out, and might just do so, but that small whittler handles a lot of chores where I work when a larger folder would tend to scare off people, quite handy and no blade play either, also a bit plus for me :) but as I made mention, depending on the one you get, be prepared to take care of those edge bevels!

Sure wish I could post a picture of my new Boker Plus Barlow. I do enjoy it so.

It's easy on a computer or tablet. Point a browser at flickr, photobucket, etc. Upload as per their instructions (this is MUCH easier if'n you have an app -- available for flickr, not sure about pbucket -- that acts as a "camera roll" and privately uploads all the pics you take with your device). Look at the pic in a web browser - both services, and others not mentioned, have links to the BBcode
blah.jpg
that you can copy directly from the page and paste into a new line in your post. When you post, the tags are replaced with your photo. Or, get a paid account and use the BFC storage, linked through an app like Tapatalk. From what I've seen, both are effective.

[quote="5K Qs, post: 16167835"]Congrats on the Bower Barlow, TB! That's a German brand I only heard of quite recently.[/QUOTE]

I also have a Bower large Barlow in the "fix 'em up 'n clean 'em up" box, needing some TLC. The two will pair nicely.

It is actually the same knife as the previous day next to the Bower, a 4" Klaas gunstock (I think of it as a gunstockman). Here's an earlier photo showing the whole mark side:

I started quoting pics three pages back, but am going to have to abandon that idea, otherwise my post will be HUGE. So many fantastic knives being carried here, and wonderful photos of them (and a great motorcycle ;) ). Great stuff everyone, this thread goes from strength to strength. Thank you for the compliments on my carries yesterday, very gratefully received. Have a lovely weekend everyone :)

Jack and Paul

Great pictures!!

Post renovation:D I could have gone deeper on the main but that will work itself out over time and its razor sharp now. Action is smooth as greased lightning

Gevo, looks great! I love the look of the old files. Maybe I missed it, is that just a scraper at the end of the file or is that part sharpened as well?

Thanks so much, Jake! Yes, its a cuticle pusher, nail cleaner ( I love all the different styles of the tool ) and it was dinged out. I re-shaped it and no it's not supposed to be sharp.
