What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Cattaraugus Barlow today.

5K Qs, I find these pretty much the same way as everybody - shows, dealers, and even the big auction on that interwebz thingy.

I've just developed a strong fondness for old barlows. They're beautiful in their form and craftsmanship, they each have a unique history about them and a story to tell. A 50-80 year-old knife can wind up in a lot of pockets and see a lot of places in its lifetime. I guess it's true with all old pocketknives but the barlows just seem to speak to me.

Thanks to you and all for your comments - love this forum.

Pulled this fabulous #38 Farmer Jack off the shelf and pressed it into service today. Here it is with a one-day old, English-ivy patina:

Seeing this and your pictures in the #38 thread inspired me to change out my knives this morning.
I bought one of those Farmer Jacks when they came out, but I haven't used it yet. I just wasn't sure how useful or versatile these blade shapes would be. I'm going to challenge myself to carry this combo all weekend:

Looks good Gev. I missed this one before, think we were posting at the same time :)

Smashing horn and cool match accoutrement:D

This is with me today...

Cosigning all of the above 100%. I love the Barlow first and foremost, even as I've discovered my affinity for large stock knives and peanuts/small serpentine jacks. I've managed to carry one every day this week, come to think of it, without even really trying. Big, small, old, new, I love a Barlow.

If only I'd been a knife knut back in school when I lived in midtown Atlanta. I probably could've cleaned up on some old Barlows, judging by the huge collection of gems you've posted. As it is, when I do come across one, it's either on that big auction site (missed out on ANOTHER Shapleigh DE just last week :grumpy:) or for sale by a proprietor who thinks I've got "SUCKER" tattooed across me forehead. And yet, I persist.

Feisty Friday's carries:

Wow! Very nice all around carry dbla

Another cool photo, Dan! How do you typically carry your Mora when you're out and about?

Some knives I carry EVERY day (so you have to look at them almost every week ), including these:
Vic Electrician (thanks, Greg)

Thank you GT For my all my Mora knives I really do favour a neck carry set up. Usually run a leather boot lace because I prefer that to 550 cord other synthetics. I find that that in any season while outdoors the neck carry is always comfortable and very convenient for me.

Great carries there! Curious... How's the Walk and Talk on the cardboard peanut ? :D

Nice bike Travman!

I detailed mine today after my week long camping trip. Rain was a plenty but we still had fun.

Lots of good looking things being posted today! I was inspired to switch things up so I've got my S&M mini-muskrat in my pocket today.
