What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Both good looking, but that Case is off the scale! I never knew that Case made this model with stepped bolsters until I saw a few at a show in April. That is a very interesting Barlow. Thanks for showing it to us.

And, as usual, GW101, your photo is top notch.

Thanks Dean! It truly is a sight to see, and rivals (if not, surpasses) the quality we see today from top brands.

Oh my. That green bone.

That particular style keeps eluding me, but I may as well give up now. There's no way I'm ever going to find one that looks half as nice as that one.

Say the word..... and we'll get you one. ;)

I "third" the above comments. Those are sweet knives.. and that Case is especially nice

Couldn't agree more Drew! :)

Very nice, Ron!
I also through the presidential in my pocket today.
I don't think I've ever shown a picture of the pile side. The wood has much more character on this side compared to the jet black mark side.

Erik - Thanks! That is some great Ebony!

Today was this Rosewood #47 again. :)

Thank you, GT! The blades look wide on that cattle knife. It must be big to be a cattle knife.
...
Thanks, Dean. :) I call it a cattle knife because it's an equal-end, rather than serpentine, frame (and because that's what a 1947 catalog I found online calls it). It's definitely a solidly-built knife, with broad blades as you noted, but its closed length is "only" 3.75".

...
THINKING about taking this off the shelf and putting into rotation duty because I love the #38 frame so much, but I haven't committed yet:

Wow, Robb, you have more self-control than I do to be able to keep that gorgeous whittler out of your pocket!

I have been Totin' some Northwoods Ebony today. :D

Totally dignified and distinctive Presidential, Ron!

Nice, is that Hartkopf?
I was eyeing those in Munich few weeks ago.

Scored myself one of these beauties:

And I am in fact carrying it today. :D
Mesmerizing knife, A.L.!

...
Thanks GT, maybe I need to get padded shoulders for my pocket slips! :D Nice to see more of your carries this week my friend
...
Ebony and..er...ebony for me today ;)

Thanks, Jack. :)
It's somewhat ironic that a double shot of dark ebony can actually brighten a day!! ;)

I was going to post a few but, after looking at the pics I think I would be ashamed. These are some great pics guy's. I am going to practice ....lol
Just go ahead and post what you get while you're practicing, h2chuck. My photos were terrible when I first joined BF, but nobody on The Porch ever gave me any grief about my unfocussed pics, and eventually I learned some things that helped me improve them substantially. (I still have reflections of my hands and camera in the blades and/or bolsters of almost every knife photo I take, but at least they're often focussed now. :D)

Two weeks of two Barlows, day two.

IMHO, you're batting 1.000 so far, TB! Are you really going to display 28 totally different Barlows over your 2-week span!

I ALWAYS enjoy seeing your Electrician, Captain!

This pair again

LT Wright Patriot, A. Wright & Son Lambfoot
Dynamic duo, Mike. How are you liking that since lambsfoot blade so far?

Mercy! That's a practically perfect pretty pearl pen knife, Gev! No wonder you post later that it's had a lot of pocket time lately.

Thanks GT, that scout is one of my favorite users. Really like the Colt!
...
Something old and something new for me today.

Thanks, Tom; I like that Colt a lot, too, and should probably get other patterns in that buckshot bone. (Have to admit that bone looks rather weird on a lady leg knife. :o)
Is the scout today your Primble? The handle material on your fixed blade is quite intriguing to me; looks sort of like a topographical map!

Very nice, Ron!

Kris, that knife is extraordinary (just like all your other knives)!!! Thanks for letting us enjoy them through your photos!

My OT 72OT a SAK and a #8 Opinel .
Good-looking Old Timer Peanut, deltaboy! Is it a USA model, or one of the later Chinese models (like most of mine:()? Too bad you didn't sneak your SAK and #8 in the pic. ;)

Here are a few more of the knives I'm carrying this week.

Today was this Rosewood #47 again. :)

What a pretty Viper. What is the name or technique involved in creating that fob, BTW? I've been trying to do something similar with some leather laces on two different knives but I don't know what the proper term is to search for instructions and my self-guided attempts to date have fallen somewhere between "unfortunate" and "comical".

IMHO, you're batting 1.000 so far, TB! Are you really going to display 28 totally different Barlows over your 2-week span!

I'm certainly going to try! If my math is right, I can pull it off. I can't approach the sheer top-to-bottom quality of Primble's Barlow horde, but I can certainly bring the B-team out in force. :D

I don't know if I've remarked on it before, but the stag on that Buck is outstanding.

Kevin, did I get the first name right? Relying on my memory is a dangerous thing:D regardless, the STAG on the Schatt is ABSOLUTELY beautiful:cool::cool::cool:
Paul, You got it right.....and thank you. A good buddy of mine gifted me this old beauty.

Ebony and..er...ebony for me today ;)

Thanks, Jack. That is a fine ebony pair that you choose for today.

I did a little regrind on that fine Queen Sodbuster that I won in that GAW that Neffarious was so generous to hold.

Thanks again Neffarious, I am really liking Queens D2 so far.

GT

Your so kind! I adore the old gal:D

Your Cudeman navaja solsonesa from Toledo, Spain is quite the knife. I love that style of knife!

Alan
the calf roper is divine:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks again Neffarious, I am really liking Queens D2 so far.

I have a similar Queen but it's from 1977 (IIRC) and I've gotta think there's no way it uses D2. Which probably means it'd be a little easier to regrind (and leave that nice "as-ground" finish). What'd you use for yours? Looks great! Queen's D2 is quite excellent, but I will admit some dread about the one or two I've already worked the fine edge off. Sharpening them back to usability is gonna be a bear. :D

I've had this one for a few months, but today this one became a user today.

I saw a grey fox for the first time ever. Red foxes are more common in Virginia. This guy was not scared of me. As long as I was about 25 yards away he was fine with my presence.

TB - Thank you for the compliments on my Viper.:) I can offer no assistance on the fob. I bought this Viper on the exchange and the previous owner had it on the knife.:D

No worries, I'll sheepishly admit to having one or two knives with "previous owner" lanyards I didn't take off because I wasn't sure I could improve upon them. :D

TB I sent you an email on how to tie a lanyard.

Appreciated, Alan, assuming stupid gmail didn't eat another one from BFC. :grumpy:

I think this is the lanyard in question?

It's, how you say, "close enough for government work!" :D Many thanks!

The dangerous thing here is you may have sent me down a rabbit hole of lanyard-tying. So many bails/lanyard holes and not enough leather lacing. :D
