What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Oh, you wacky kids, and your ideas of what "traditional" means. Especially those millenials that think anything made a year before they were born is archaic.

tra·di·tion·al
trəˈdiSH(ə)n(ə)l/
adjective
existing in or as part of a tradition; long-established.

Don't get me wrong. Those are some nice Gentleman's knives. Some of them go back to a point when a gentleman was EXPECTED to have a knife, handkerchief, and other accouterments. Back to a point in time when a guy carrying a knife was a prepared gentleman, not a freaking mall ninja.

But, traditional? The dirk, stiletto, and even the bowie have a longer tradition than most of these knives. If you are carrying your grandfather's (or better) pocket knife that's a tradition. I think the word is classic, maybe just me.

But knives like the one below held way more tradition than anything I could buy

StoneBeard, I gotta say I miss fresh figs, my dad had 2 figs trees back in NJ, When I was a kid use to eat them all the time. Tried growing fig trees here in Colorado, no such luck lost all 3.

Some great knives as always, digging all the 25's

Good to see you around Pete, hope all is well!

Here is my carry for the day

Hey Pete, that peanut still going strong!!! It's been what? 3 years straight of carry?
It's me or the zippo used to be a golden one?

Today I'm at my wife's store, and since there aren't too many clients I'm spending some time tunning up the edges on "her" knives (the stockman is snatched from me without any guilt;))
and since I have the stone out mine got perfected too.

First fig off the tree this year. #15 in tow but no picture.

Fantastic shot and analogy, the colours go just right. Figs are luscious fruits, also the dried ones are very palatable. Out of interest, where are you in the USA? I've lived in various European countries and even had figs from a wall grown tree in Southern England, all tasty! That Portage is a spectacular example, all the predictable moaning about the pattern was nonsense in my view, a really interesting, good-looking and practical knife - if you get one like that anyway!:D

Thanks, Will

I can understand that Jake! That has classic styling, great stag and well executed blades. That Wharncliffe looks particularly sharp - in more ways than one.

Here's what's in my pockets today. First is a Northwoods cocobolo bullet, with a kitten I found in the middle of the road today. Second is my grandpas old case knife, he passed away this morning.
