Harry, your 73 is really developing some fine character! That beautiful Schmachtenberg Bros looks like horn to me too and I just love that shield!! Interesting stamp on the main blade. Can't quite make it out though

Thanks very much Gevo !! The figure on the blade is an AXE and maybe the letters CLIM . I would not want to bet any money on that until I check it out a little more .
Thanks for asking !!! Our gardens are doing very well so far !! Radishes and lettuces are finshed . Started to get a tomato or two. Bell peppers are starting to get big enough .

Added findings : Just saw a picture of a Schmachtenberg Bros razor that clearly shows that the letters on the Axe handle are indeed CLIM !!!

Thanks Gevo and Dean, it's a fun one to carry. Had it along again today, here is a pile side pic, love how aggressive it is. This one will never slip out of a wet hand

You are killing me posting that knife lately! That was a pattern that I had always wrote off as bulky and odd looking, but apparently something changed. Now everytime I see one I NEED one more and more.
I'm sure the amazing blade selection has a lot to do with it.

Much appreciated, Erik!! That Camillus required an encore!! I have not been fishing in years and need to remedy that

Thanks Gev. The Camillus is the only vintage knife I own, but whenever I pick it up I get this strange desire to hit up the bay to start looking for more. I just have such little knowledge when it comes to old pocket knives that I'm better off searching for that elusive vintage knife in decent condition at a reasonable price that I can handle at an actual store. Those don't come up to often though...

Very interesting! CLIM...slim? like XLNT is excellent...huh:confused: I bet that's it. We need to find some old adverts:thumbup:

Glad to hear the garden in doing well. I had some bell pepper and ate a few but most were claimed by the bugs as i waited for them to rippen up a bit more

Schmachtenberg Brothers(Gebrüder Schmachtenberg), 1887-1939, had an import agency at 143 Chambers Street, N.Y.
Their manufacturing plant was in Solingen, and William Schmachtenberg had charge of that plant.
About 1894, the offices in New York were moved to 98 Chambers Street.
By 1913, they were at 66-68 Reade Street, with Frederick W. Schmachtenberg as a member of the firm.
The blade is 5/8, square point, 1/2 hollow ground.
The blade etched with "The Celebrated Extra Hollow Ground Razor"

I feel like making soup for some strange reason

Have a good one folks.

Lovely 25 scruff! It has so many great features... the deep stamp and the bullet bolster to the ebony to name a few:thumbup::thumbup:
