What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

It's my GunScout and grilled chicken as we settle in for the start of the Olympics tonight! Great knives everyone!

It doesn't take much to make me happy.

Very dapper Douk Douk, FBC! I’ve been thinking of adding one to the “international wing” of my collection, but I’m probably leaning toward that model with the squirrel on it.

Thanks, GT. I would recommend getting one. I picked up the larger size first and decided it was a little too big for my needs.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Looks delicious! I just ate dinner and that picture's making me hungry! :D

(Nice knife, too.)

Congratulations on the awesome Sowbelly, Mike!! Is that bone stag? That shield is unique for a Case sowbelly, isn't it?

...

I'm vacationing on Lake Huron, and there are 6 small cottages here. Some of our "neighbors" for the week include Charlotte and Milly, two sisters who are under 8, although their default volume seems to be 11!!:p

...

In a pouch on my belt, I have 3 knives (and a cell phone, flashlight, and Chinese Micraesque multitool) for this week and next.

Thank you, sir :) It's their new CV line with 6.5 Bonestag covers. The shield is a cool shape indeed. Kind of a strange example on mine, as they inletted it a bit off, and had to bend the shield to get it flush with the covers... Still a great addition to my sowbelly collection ;)

I'm enjoying the last weekend of my vacation, and mentally wrapping my head around going back to work on Monday. I hope your vacation is going well, noisy neighbors and all :) You picked some good choices to accompany you on your trip.

Thanks, GT. I would recommend getting one. I picked up the larger size first and decided it was a little too big for my needs.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Back to the Black Box stockman for today.

I love seeing that one!

Thanks, Jack. I’m happy to be here safely, but my family often questions how sound I am in various ways.

Coming in loud and clear on your Radio, Jack!! :D

I know what you mean my friend! :D Thanks, nice Pioneer :)

Great pics guys

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I'm off to Sheffield this morning, to visit Shepherd's Wheel (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1229530-The-Dairy-Maids-of-Porter-Brook-(Part-1) ), and then go to see a play at a theatre I last visited nearly 50 years ago. The production, 'The Stirrings in Sheffield on Saturday Night' takes its name from a very old Sheffield song, and is about a period of history, known as 'The Sheffield Outrages'. It was last performed in Sheffield in the 1970's I think, and I was pleased to see there's a new production.

The Stirrings in Sheffield on Saturday Night

Of hammers and files no more heard the din is
Round the door of the warehouse the workmen arrange
While the master his bankbills and snug little guineas
Is counting, or strutting about to get change.
Having reckoned, they ne'er stop, but jog to the beer shop
Where fumes of tobacco and stingo invite
And the oven inhabits a store of Welsh rerebits
To feast jolly fellows on Saturday night.

chorus: Saturday night, boys, Saturday night
What Stirrings in Sheffield on Saturday night.

Now while cheerful liquor around they are pushing
The many-mouthed chorus melodious flies.
Though oft interrupted by merchants who rush in
With "Cockles alive O" or "Hot mutton pies".
Perhaps you may choose, sir, to pore o'er the news, sir
And tell whether matters go wrong or go right
All ranks and conditions commence politicians
While sat in the alehouse on Saturday night.

But while o'er the tankard such fun they are raising
Full often will fate these enjoyments annoy
A good scolding wife puts her unwelcome face in
An intruding guest, she breaks thus on their joy
So here again, Billy, why, sure man, thou'rt silly
'Od burn thee, come home, or I'll dit up thy sight.
Nay, so now, my jewel, says he, this is cruel
To begrudge one a sup on a Saturday night.

Here maids with their baskets are to and fro walking
In shambles to bargain with butchers for meat
While some boy ballad singer so slowly is stalking
And warbles so sweetly his lays in the street.
Here's calendars crying and people come buying
Around the hoarse fellow in crowds — such a sight
For as suits your palates, confessions or ballads
Are all at your service on Saturday night.

When through the dark alleys if slyly one passes
What fun you may have if an ear you will lend
Such sighs and soft wishes from lads and from lasses
Who tell their fond tale at a dark entry's end.
When he to his true-love cries, Polly, adieu love
And kisses and squeezes his lassie so tight
She'll blushing say, Fie, sir, then softly she'll cry
Can't you stay a bit longer? It's Saturday night.

@Jack - have a good day out my friend, glad to see you have some trusty companions with you!

@GT - it's bocote, and some of the nicest figuring I've seen. I lucked out on the exchange with that one. :)

I've some torched stag for Saturday:

Macchina That grilled chicken looks so fine it's endangering my diet:D Decent Bloodwood on the 15 too:thumbup:

I'm letting an Old Lag out on parole today. This David Laguiole I particularly like as it's a smaller one only 9cm shut. The blade gets supper sharp , no bad thing:cool:

Jack I hope you are doing well pal, not sure if you'll remember but Olivia still has the little pig flashlight you sent many years ago, also I stopped purchaseing knives about 2 years ago, so I could enjoy my accumulated bounty, but I will say every time you show a lambsfoot my pulse quickens, one of these days I'll add a Real Lambsfoot to my collection.

Early morning wild blackberry harvest, I have to compete with all the other critters

Viva L'Outrages! Sounds like a good show.

Rarebits reminds me of a Tudor-era joke: There were too many Welshmen getting into heaven, so St Peter went outside the gates and yelled "toasted cheese"! All the Welsh ran outside, and St Peter slammed the gates behind them.

what's dit up thy sight?

Woops, knife pic-

Looking good, everyone! Dinner looked tasty, Macchina. Enjoy that Baby Doc, Vaporstang!

This guy came in the mail yesterday. Gonna spend the weekend in the pocket to try it out.

I don't own one of these and it's not the type of pattern I would carry, but that bone and shield are exceptional. Wonderful quality knife! Must be an early one I suspect 08 or thereabouts?

Thanks, Will

I have the same one, 09 I think. Quite much more wear on mine though. The shield and bone in this size knife, especially with the quality and looks is one of the most amazing knives to look at. And yea, it is big knife. I preferred to make sheath for mine.
