I carried these two today. A GEC 25, thanks
Will, what are the odds on both of us carrying these today. And a Vic Pioneer Pruner.

That blue Pruner is brilliant, Ken!
My weekend started at noon on Thursday. Pam and I headed south to my daughters home in LA. Got up Friday morning and picked up a 26 foot UHaul. She had 2 professional movers load her belongings from her home into the UHaul. Two things that come immediately to mind are
Sardines & Jigsaw Puzzles!
Because that is what the back of that truck looked like when I pulled the cargo door down and locked it.

We headed north around 3PM and spent the night in Birmingham. Saturday morning we were up bright and early and headed north to the Music City. We arrived safely and were unloaded by 2 more professional type dudes. I had my OO 73 as my only knife all the time. I cut a ton of cardboard and shrink wrap and packing tape. Nothing major just common tasks. I know all of you will get a kick out of this. My daughter ordered Pizza for us for a quick evening meal Saturday. Some of the slices needed a little extra cut or two so out comes the 73. My daughters best friend from college had come over to help us unpack. When she saw my 73 she uttered one of the most well known knife phrases,
"Now that's a knife!" I wiped the marinara off the blade, smiled and said, "It's just my favorite pocket knife!" I dropped my old friend back in my pocket and went back to enjoying my NY Pizza. I hope everyone had a nice weekend.
Sounds like a busy weekend, Ron; it's great that your OO 73 could support you in many ways!
I forced the patina using Sriracha hot sauce.
That is one far-out patina, Scott, and the way it complements your knife's covers is magnificent!

After a long hot summer we had a well deserved, beautiful & mild weather this weekend.
Choice photo of a classy knife, Travman!
GT, I have to tell you how happy it makes me every time you post a picture of that peanut. I'm so glad that you ended up with it, and that you continue to keep it in the rotation. Thanks for sharing, my friend.
I spent most of today doing yard work, and my 49 was with me all day.
I put her away tonight and pulled the D2 version back out. I'm a flip flopper lately, I can't decide which one I like more.
Thanks, Cory.

It's obvious from stories that get posted quite frequently around here that knives that have some kind of "human connection" for their owners are more meaningful. I don't really have any heirloom knives from ancestors (except an Imperial toothpick that I and a brother both think is identical to a model one of our grandfathers used to carry, but it's not Grandpa's knife), but I have many knives, including that peanut, from BF members, and those knives remind me of what an unusually positive place The Porch is in a society that seems very negative in many ways. I really like carrying them because of what they represent to me!
You're gonna win a lot of hands with that pair of Queens you have now, Cory!

After a late start, we have had a nice summer here in Yorkshire, but today is distinctly Autumnal. Have a good week everyone
Couple of knives for all seasons, Jack!
I always considered the Canoe pattern to be a bit out there (it's no French Kate

) but very functional. I have collected a few GEC's from about 5 years ago before the current #15 and Barlow craze and I tend to find the older GEC's tend to have a bit more function built in. I love the 68 White Owl (2 blades on a single spring, a very svelte pattern) and the #16 Canoe is very similar but with just a bit more bolster which makes for a very ergonomic grip! I love GEC #16s, I have another on the way.
The Canoe spent a week in the woods with me:
Thanks for the review, Macchina. I really like the canoe pattern, and have often considered trying to find an ebony or rust red jigged bone version of GEC's canoe, since those two were released on my birthday in 2012.

(I appreciated your comments on the White Owl, too, since that's another knife with some variations released on one of my birthdays - rust red spearpoint and both clip and spear Kryptonite - that appeals to me.)
GT: I love that Chestnut Peanut. This exact knife is what I think of when I think of a "Case knife". What a beautiful example, it makes you wonder how Case can hit their Chestnut dye so perfectly then turn out the red dyes they do...
Thanks for the compliments!

I have several of the chestnut jigged bone CV Cases, and really enjoy them. I have to admit that even for the chestnut dye, there's a surprising amount of variation among knives. But it's definitely much better than some of the Case dye jobs I've seen posted here!
Today has been a bright sunny autumn day  Not many of those left before the darkness of winter rain & snow descends
Making the most of it with a favourite bird..White Owl/ Light Tan
Beautiful brown White Owl, Will!
It's Monday, I have a headache, and my football team lost. But at least my carry is on point!
Splendid whittler, WK!
Nice knives today, guys!
Out and about with the Cramer in my pocket.
Wow! Don't start any forest fires with those flaming covers, Gary!
...
Camillus pearl whittler on a cloudy, rainy Monday.
Definitely a jewel, Dean!
Back to my weekly rotation schedule (Week 16 of 20 weeks on the current schedule).
Three knives from my Case-carrying weekend get to stay in my pocket this week, a stag peanut, a chestnut Sodbuster Jr (thanks, Bob), and a sowbelly stockman (thanks, Ron):
I also have a Rough Rider scout knife:
