What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thank you, Jack. If I get one I'll post some pictures there. Annie Oakley's OK, but I'd rather look at Tarzan. ;) :D

LOL! Fair enough! :D

There's even a matching pair of Tarzan Barlows available! ;)

That is an a absolutely stunning photo of your lambsfoot, Jack! I'd have to be careful with that one as I'd be staring at it at inopportune times - like while driving.:thumbup:

Another rainy day here, but there are always other people's great traditional knives to admire!

Thank you Dean, you're very kind :) Hope you get some sunshine soon :) Great-looking knife

Ground the recurve out of this AGR small gunstock.

ALqBpon.jpg

Nice work on that re-grind. I have an AGR gunstock as well, solid knife but I could do w/o the recurved blade. I really like your blade mod.

That's real nice. Wish they didn't discontinue it.

This AGR Regular Jack is my favorite AGR slip joint. Pull is about a 5. Has nice walk 'n talk. The covers are fantastic IMO. I have a few other AGR slip joints that have very light pulls - too light for my liking. AGR hit the nail on the head with this Regular Jack. Indeed a shame it's been discontinued.

For now, the Forum Stag Jack got the nod today. That might change as the day progresses though.
As is often the case, I'm a day late, but that's a handsome BF stag jack, Bob!

You've got me there, GT, I do love me a Peanut! I love those old novelty Barlows. Such attention grabbers!

It is the Rogers Jigged Walnut Bone, and I'm so happy to get one with a deep dye on it. Bit more gaps between liners and springs than my other Case knives, but not terribly visible to the eye. Here it is with my dyed Amber Bone Cap Lifter Mini Trapper. There will be plenty more pics of this Peanut, though!

Thanks, Shawn. That's a nicely matched pair of knives!

... Today I've got the "Odd Couple".

Alan
May be "Odd", Alan, but it's also an "Outstanding" couple of knives!

That's a lovely photo, Travman!

Haha I know you're fond of the 2 blade version ;) It's a front flipper made by a South African Maker Clyde Challenor in Damasteel. It's the definition of 'smooooooth~ action. That Zorro barlow has that extra charm to it~
...
Thanks for the info, Tim. I can't intelligently comment on your customs, since they're so beyond any of my knife experiences, but they sure look wonderful to my totally-naive eyes!
The Zorro Barlow doesn't have much going for it EXCEPT that "novelty charm", but that's enough! :o

Today it's a nice old red bone Primble...

Yet another fantastic Barlow, Atiger! If I didn't know better, I'd have guessed those covers were some kind of wood, rather than red bone!

...
Neato Barlow, Gary!
...
Thanks, Dean. :)

AusLoX and FBC, your knives have quite different stag covers, but I think both are ravishing examples!:thumbup:

Thanks GT!

If I didn't know any better, I'd say you have a never ending supply of exceptional cutlery. :D
...
That's a kind thing to say, Dee. :) Considering that less than 3 years ago I had only 4 knives (and only knew where one of them was), it does seem to ME that I have an endless supply of knives. Their quality may be in question, but the quantity is definitely there! :D

Just the 73 today

Just the 73 is pretty much just perfect, Brett!

...
An altered Utica Barlow, someone polished down the "BARLOW" off the bolsters and stamped "US M-3 UTICA" in its place. Would have been better off I believe being left in original condition.

It has steel liners, solid and centered blades with not an ounce of play and wonderful Sawcut covers...carbon blades that were brought to "Razor Sharp" condition in a few minutes:thumbup:

We traditionalists tend to prefer things be kept original, but for some reason, I like it. It's unique. :)
That's a marvelous Barlow, Paul; congrats! And I agree with r8shell about the bolster work making it unique.

...

That is a fantastic line-up of knives, but I LOVE the Zorro Barlow! :)
...
GT made me do it! ;) :D

Jack, I've never felt so influential and empowered; hope it doesn't go to my head!;) I'm definitely glad to see those two knives of yours again. That's an especially flattering pic of your buffalo horn! Thanks for the compliments on my knives; I'm always amazed at the acclaim that $4 Zorro knife garners! :D

Dark and rainy here at the top of Virginia. It still looks like dawn and it is already mid-morning.

That knife with its luminous covers ought to brighten up a gloomy day at least a little bit!

I'm thinking about getting one of those novelty Barlows. I think I saw a Tarzan one? Life can be so serious, and I need something to remind me some things should just be fun!

Today's serious knives:
Tarzan would be a good one, Rachel. Sometime in my 20s, I read a bunch of Edgar Rice Burroughs Tarzan novels; they were pretty interesting (and taught me a bunch of new vocabulary).
The background on the first of your desirable "serious" knives inspired a weird question. Do you know anything about "bris knives"? Are they special ceremonial knives made by religious craftsman? If so, are they fixed blades, or folders, or medical/scalpel type? If not, can just any old Case or GEC be used, or is a spey blade prescribed (seems like "overkill")? Inquiring minds want to know! ;)

Looks fantastic, Dean!

This week I'm carrying these knives, among others.

I've been 3-blading it for quite a while now, with my EDC railsplitter for work and a stockman on the weekends, but I have the urge to carry a 2-blade jack once again. Starting out with this wonderful Queen #40 gunstock in cocobolo from 2002, from when Queen was AGAIG.

Well done everyone!

Thanks for the comment Gary.

Today I went for something different. At least for me.

A Vic Gardener and a 3 dot Buck 112.

Have a great evening everyone!

Sometimes I forget to say how impressive all of your knives are. I stink at photography, so my pics are always #basic. I really enjoy everyone's contribution to this thread. It makes me smile and ohhh and ahhh every time I come here to look.

I just wanna say, thanks, to all of you.

I read the Tarzan novels, too.

A spey blade is definitely overkill! :D At the risk of making all the fellows on the porch sit with their legs crossed the rest of the day, search Google images: "circumcision knife and shield" You'll see some lovely metalwork and a few cringe-worthy images. I'm pretty sure nowadays even the mohels use disposable scalpels.
