What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I have been extremely sick this past week and still. My wife was nice enough to let me clean up my Christmas present. This is an Original Puma Bowie from 1966, Puma started to date code in 64. Mint condition with original sheath, box and card(all in German). I removed the rockwell sticker and sharpened the Pumaster steel on my 1k Shapton, gave the sheath a good saddle soap and condition. It is an very well made knife with some very attractive Sambar stag, hammered pins, feels good in hand. Pumaster steel is chrome plated, high carbon steel, if I am not mistaken. Takes a great edge. Hard to believe it has been sitting for 50 years, waiting for me.

Beautiful old Puma! I am planning to get vintage fixed blade next year and something like that would be perfect! I have to remember that.. :)

Such a GREAT thread:thumbup:

The down side is I just can't quote all the individual great carries and the pictures of them.

This wonderful beer barrel oak B.S. arrived yesterday, I really like this one:cool:

That looks pretty good Paul !! Is the F&F as good as it looks ?? Some people had some , maybe unwarranted , complaints . Just wondered what you think my friend.

Harry, thank you my friend. No complaints at all with this one. I picked up the acrylic and golden ale bone also, both flawless. The oak one may have a slightly easier pull on the cap lifter is all. I'm a sucker for these Beer Scouts as well as the other variations. The charred version has been ordered also:o;)

Made me dig out the Shake Down Street Lp too. :D

I love the Brothers (remind me, somewhere I have the entire series of FFF Bros along with the reader app/software to read the comics. When I find them send me a flash drive and a SASE and I'll make you a copy and send it back to you), I had a cat named Fat Freddy's cat when I lived at the Circle Hunk Chicken Ranch, a 157 year old farm house with 3 acres of farmland and a couple of buildings including a couple of barns, a large production chicken coupe with egg sorting and packaging equipment. Also had a giant old 4 horse barn converted to a 2 car garage that I used for workin' on cars and trucks for extra cash.

My mom owned the property and let me, my if and my brother stay there for nothin' but payin' the property taxes which back in the early 80s even with a discount for the farm assessment was almost $6K. We turned it into a kinda communal pharm. It became a hang out where on any given day we would have anywhere from 3 to 100+ people chillin' and livin' on the property. We were mostly tradesmen of some sort or had skills in something like pharming, farming, building trades and automotive skills. Almost all of the main residents were mechanics of some kind. Knifeworks of choice was the same knife I carried today, a Schrade Uncle Henry 897UH

Borrowed pic. :)

I also have one of the Charred versions ordered and consider myself lucky to get one. The charred version will be my first 15 or Tidioute for myself. The other Beer Scout that I got is for a gift. Did you get a Beer Scout Pin with yours as well as the BS Slug ???

Wow, that is such an awesome clip on that knife Kris. What a beauty :) Hope you are feeling better my friend.

These days i have been carrying my orange GEC Bull Nose and also keeping my Case sodbuster in CV handy in the back pocket as I have been packing things up and shuttling them to a storage unit. We put our house on the market and had a solid offer on it after only five days, and they want to close on Jan 3rd. Ten years here went by fast and many things accumulated have been dispersed with. The orange slabbed Bull nose that I got from Pmew has been indispensable as it's covers are glaringly easy to find as I am constantly "making a box" to fit whatever it is that I happen to be packing at the time LOL. Hoping anyone who knows me sees this and want you to all know that I often think about my friends here, even though I have been absent, and wish you all a very happy holiday season. Just wanted to post a drive by Hi Y'all :)

I have the pin/s Harry and am awaiting the charred and it's slug. As far as I know the slug will be numbered to match the charred oak knife. If you are short a pin PLEASE shoot me a pm as I have several. One is certainly yours if you want.

Duane, always nice to see you pop in. Hope all goes smooth with moving, it's a very tedious process. I seriously can't count how many people/families I've moved over the last thirty years. My Dad owned a family furniture store and my friends and brothers and I moon lighted at night for extra cash when we were young. It blossomed into a profitable business but certainly broke me down physically.

Thank you, Jack! Your lambsfoot is gor-g-ous!! That was a thoughtful gift from Charlie.

Thanks pal, yes indeed :)

Thanks, Dean!

Another TC, another beauty. With enough character to start a play (<--- I'm on a roll here guys, haha :D). Or at least it feels like it. :o :) :p

Dean - Thank you for taking that one off the market. I didn't know how much longer I could tell myself no :D. Besides, doesn't it just brighten your day :)?

Thank you for your comments, Dee! Yeah, I had someone ask a question about the Day's Work and while I was looking at it, I thought "This really is a good knife, I think I'll keep it." :) It is meant to be.

Today is TC Thursday.

Get well soon, Kris! That old Puma should sure put some kick in your step. Awesome piece!

That Puma is just wonderful. They made some great knives over the years.
Hope you get that infection behind you quickly and rally soon.

That fixed-blade looks like a great user Kris, beautiful too, love the lines on it

Hope that gift makes you feel better soon Kris

Thanks Duane, nice to see you posting and Happy Holidays to you and yours. I am hoping the move goes well. We are going to be doing a lifestyle change here in the coming months. We will put our house up on the market in Jan. and looking to buy a home and land in the Jefferson river valley, my wife will still be able to commute and I am going to raise heritage Berkshire pigs. I am at my breaking point here in society. All the best my friend.

Kris
