Jeff I couldn't agree more.

I don't think your daily 303s are boring, Clay; I admire your dedication and commitment!

There you go! A tale of high adventure involving your supposedly-boring Buck stockman!:D

You are too kind, a true gentleman. Thanks for making me feel so very welcome here on the porch.

You gentlemen are too kind! Jeff, those words sure can make two Catts blush ;):D

Angelically photographed, Gev! Beautiful Catt, those covers are to die for.

Today, I'm carrying my favorite "around the house" knife - Case's excellent penknife. In the LRP is my Knife of 2016, the jigged red bone spear point TC Barlow.

Something about yellow in a Case that give me that feeling, Dean! ( I carried an ole yellow stockman for a long time ) Loved your comment Sir!

Wow. Just wow!! Beautiful photogrpahy, and an even more beautiful knife.

I'm carrying something new today. A 1974 bone covered Case 6445R scout. I'm most impressed. The walk and talk is exceptional. It's built like a tank in comparison to my Camillus and Queen scouts, and is very comfortable in the hand. Nice and thick. The can opener is actually sharp, and will make a great package opener. The initial edge was beyond horrible, but nothing that a couple of diamond rods couldn't take care of. Overall, it's a real keeper. Case never should have stopped producing these. I've typically come to associate Case with thin delicate feeling knives, which generally don't appeal to me. This is the exact opposite. Robust and tough as nails. A work knife. More GEC-like than modern day Case-like.

Thank you kindly for the fine compliment. Now...I know your the master of the Scout and you sure know how to make a guy fall for the pattern with that wonder...wow:D

Every time i can feast my eyes on that beauty is a good day!

Awesome!! :thumbup::cool:
Thanks Gevo. You are a gentleman and a scholar. Damn few of us left!:D

Thanks for the smile, my friend. And you are both...indeed:D

Thanks for the info, bonzodog; you must be very happy to have that splendid knife!

May the force be with you but it's not good game plan 😆
...
Yeah, I'm not serious about resolving no new knives for 2017, but just thinking about it builds character.

...
Thanks for the kind words my friend, that's a fascinating coincidence :) The map is from this page of the London Evening Standard of May 10th 1940.

Amazing, Jack! (How does one keep 75-year-old newsprint from yellowing??)

...
It has been awhile since I visited with the Beaver :D

Love knives with "picture shields"!

...
Thanks for your many kind comments today and all of 2016, Gary! You are a treasure to the Traditionals Forum.

Not sure when I'll see Rogue One as I have to wait on my son's busy schedule. I've heard good reviews so far, but then I don't listen to naysayers.

Thanks for the compliment, Dean (although I often hear "treasure" associated with "buried" and that worries me a little ;)), and for the Rogue One rumors. I like your colorful couple of knives for today. Do you have a green knife, too? You could make a Traffic Light Trio!

Congrats on your Case scout knife, Buzz; very noteworthy!

W:eek:W, Jake, how do you get any work done with a knife like that around??:thumbup:

Thanks, Clay; I'm just trying to pay forward the welcome that I received when I discovered The Porch.

I made a lengthy post earlier today and forgot to include any of my knives for the week! (Had another birthday yesterday, and as my age increases, my memory seems to feel obligated to decrease accordingly. :()
Stockman of the Week is a Rough Rider sowbelly:

Miscellaneous Knife of the Week is a RR work knife (AKA small sodbuster):

On kitchen duty this week are a couple of knives that I carried last week, a Taylor-Schrader-Walden muskrat (thanks, Randy) and a MAM sheepsfoot:

Here you go Marko :D

Wow Gevo !!!! Great pictures there of each side my friend !
Did not see the Indian Trails on the Mark Side but they are for sure there on the Pile.
GEC and Case should learn to jig bone like Cattaraugus did.
Somebody sharpened that one enough to expose the tip for sure. My last Catt hat to have it's kick trimmed too.
Marry Christmas my friend and stay safe in that cold down there .

Harry

Thanks Dean, Gevo and GT. I'll post a pic of the pile side tomorrow. I think it's a cool touch that Ryu grinds the swedges into the tangs where most makers would stop them. It adds a little something extra.

Thanks for your fine compliment, my friend! It still has great snap to both blades and no wobble. With a little edge work on the main it will be quite handsome again. There are three trails on the Mark side but not well shown in the pic - it was cold this morning..lol It has warmed up now (60) and no more freezes in the foreseeable future. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Having ended the experiment and going back to my sinfull ways as an incurable knife knut, I have my daily rotation with me. In addition to my ever present Wenger SI in its belt pouch with the LED light, I have my old yellow peanut back in my right pocket. My classic is back on my keyring, and I feel like all is back as it should be. And in memory of my dear old Uncle Paul, I even tucked a very old Christy knife in my tobacco pouch, just in case.

What are you guys carrying today?

When driving, as I was today, I always slip my A.G. Russell Woodswalker into its leather hip sheath and carry that in my right rear pocket between the fabric next to my butt and a folded bandana. That combo is the same thickness as my wallet in my left rear pocket and keeps me on an even keel, so to speak. After three back surgeries it really helps and I recommend that everyone do there own version of it.

I do have a green knife! I'll be carrying red and green probably on the 24th and Christmas Day.

The CS on your muskrat must stand for Completely Special!

Nice Schatt, John but that Essential looks fantastic! Reminds me of how much I wish I could warm up to fixed blade carry.

Thanks! To be honest, I only put the Essential on after work. I am having a front pocket sheath made for it, and then I plan to carry it more.

I always liked that woodswalker when I saw it! Does the sheath got any kind of lining or protection inside? I reckon though it would be hard to stab yourself with it.. just wondering. :)

I've had mine for ~ 15 years and carry it very often. I just took a look at the sheath and it has one stitch with a couple of broken fibers. From the outset, it's been easily placed back into the sheath by placing my forefinger along the top of the blade and guiding the point into the sheath opening with my fingertip. Ever been at a family reunion and get a plastic knife to cut your food? Not anymore. Holds an edge well.

Double stag for me today, my Stan Shaw Sheepsfoot and my Abbeydale (the latter pictured at 14th century Harewood Castle) :)

Always good to see old faces and new, and the daily carryings of so many fine knives, even if I can't read through the multitude of pages that zoop by if I don't read this thread (throughout) every day!

A repost, but this picture captures my ongoing pocketses goodsomes, picked up every morning, excavated from pockets and sheath and placed in this leather catchall at the end of each day. I not only am enjoying these knives, but a certain refreshing dialed-in-ness.
