What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

IMG_20140325_120543_zps32gsknsf.jpg

Nice pair! Is that an OH '08 in inferno acrylic? Lovely piece [emoji4]

GT, my little TC is a 14. I'm still not convinced that I can carry a 2 blade 15; I'm afraid it may be a bit too bulky.

I don't think I've seen a Sanrenmu before! What's the closed length on that guy?

Fantastic picture of a very interesting and cool knife :thumbup:

Have a good day! :D

Classic beauty :D

And a bowl of cherries;):D:D:thumbup:

Very good looking knife

A favourite of mine which I don't see a lot of on knife forums. GEC 99 Wall Street Spear with Burnt Stag sides.

Thats one sweet knife indeed :D

It HAD to be this one for me today :)

Absolutely and a treasure to behold

Thank you Gev! :) It was actually in my pocket again today. :D

I like that photo, Ron. Leave it to Beaver!

That's a very good question. I'm not sure. I don't think it's "pretty bone". It's sort of an absurdly deep red. It usually looks like dark brown. But then when the lighting is just right, the red pops right out. I have a feeling that the looks will only improve as the covers start to get pocket worn.

w8gqE66h.jpg
Yeah. This thread will see a lot of this knife.

7g6SEkdh.jpg
Thanks, Buzz; IMHO, that's just awesome bone on your Case scout, and I'm looking forward to seeing it often!

Thanks, Gary! Are you gassing me? :p :D

You can never go wrong with a SAK . The blue Alox is flying high. Okay, Okay, I'm done (I think) .
:D:D

Somehow this Case is finding its way into my pocket pretty consistently. And, with the chunky 25 they make a good pair.

Definitely a dynamic duo, Alan!

...
Thanks pal, I struggle to remember what day it is! :o

Thanks again GT, it's been pretty good so far - I received a wonderful package from Duncan, a card from Stan Shaw and his wife, and my Mini-Quest to find a Ring-Opener for one of our friends here was finally successful :)
...
I think I remember that struggle myself, Jack! ;)
Congrats on your package and card, and on a successful conclusion to your quest to induct someone else into The Fellowship of the Ring-openers!

These two today,

Tim Steingass New Orleans special in CPM 154 and some beautiful, Sambar stag, sheath by David Seward; along with a whittler from Joel Chamblin, amber stag and Mike Norris damascus

attachment.php
Thanks for showing us the Chamblin whittler again, Kris; I admire the stag on that knife!

...
Thanks GT! Today's carry and literary illustration, with apologies to Raymond Chandler (and Mike). :D

I LOVE that illustration, Ken, but now you're making the connection between illustration and knife more of a challenge (at least for me)! Is it the near "sound-match" for Marlowe/Barlow (with the perfectly-positioned tip of the clip to hide the E)?

...
Today I am carrying a Trestle Pine Knives Portage with circassian walnut covers. I will admit the forward positioned nail nick makes the knife look a bit odd, however the knife is very pocket friendly and functional with the EO.

This today ...

...
Couple of cool and distinctive Barlows, Erik and MJ!

StoneBeard, that's a hilarious shot of your lambsfoot with the heavenly horn handle!:D

I'm still busy and haven't had a chance to post much.

Great knives everyone!

I went with these two today.

Have a good one all!

Ken K.
Tough to beat that Canal Street Forum knife and some old cross Alox, Ken!

A charismatic crimson couple for the Christmas season!

Pony Jack in Ebony. I like how the joints are almost sunken on this pattern. Very pocketable.

UggLuYi.jpg

...
That ebony Pony is pretty much pure pocket knife right there, Bob!

Thank you, Gary! That Pruner is gorgeous (and useful).
...
Carrying these two today (archive photos as the lighting is bad now).

Thanks for the pruner praise, Dean. :)
Are we supposed to include a disclaimer each time we use an "archive photo"? I'm such a reluctant photographer that I ONLY use archived photos; my posts would get too long () if I need disclaimers!

Had a nice day off just sitting around the house with a good book and a cool knife.

That IS a cool knife, FBC! (I recently acquired my first knife with a marlin spike and am now searching for ways to use it.)

I started the day with a Camillus Buck 303 but by lunch I was ready to run home and swap it out for a modern Buck version, it cuts better, holds a better edge and is more pocket friendly. The only thing that old cami does better is look good.
That's interesting info, Clay!

...
It HAD to be this one for me today :)

Enjoy the Navy lambsfoot, Jack!;)

I don't think I've seen a Sanrenmu before! What's the closed length on that guy?
Thanks for the reply, Shawn. I don't know why (maybe it's just your username), but I always think of you as a big guy with a thing for what scrawny me considers tiny knives. :D The Sanrenmu is 3" closed (plus the little ring at the end); I'd never heard of them either, before davek14 sent me one. My (probably inadequate) understanding is that Sanrenmu is a Chinese company that made models for some "big name" modern folder companies, and then Sanrenmu started selling its own brand at budget prices.

The last of my pre-Christmas week carry includes:
Canoe of the week - Colt buckshot bone (thanks Dave)
b9R4P4U.jpg

Euro knife of the week - Cudeman solsonesa purchased in Toledo, Spain
WTBnil7.jpg

Watchpocket knife of the week - Imperial Diamond Edge whose synthetic covers are long gone (thanks, Mark)

Peanut-like knife of the week - Taylor-Schrade 72OT Dogleg Jack

Thanks Gary. Perfection often evolves from simplicity. ;) :D
I've really been admiring your Spanish wood handled knives lately. More simplicity.

Great bit of "detective work" GT (pun intended). Yes, I did position the tip to cover the "e". Early on, Charlie's TCs became know as Charlows and then it followed logically that Mikes 77 medium barlows became Marlows. I don't know who coined the phrase but Charlie himself used Marlow for Mike's medium barlows in this thread http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1231878-GEC-77-Medium-Barlow-Impressions/page46 (see post #916).

There's no flies on Gary. :D He's very thorough when examining posts and pics.

Yep. Absolute beautiful.

MJ71 - Thank you for the compliment!

That is a really cool knife!:thumbup: Could you show it opened?

If your archive photos exude as much quality as those of today's, then by all means post away . Recycling is good ;).

Thanks, Dee! The new Tom's Choice is the cat's pajamas!!

Dean, great #14 and #15 TC's:thumbup:

Thanks, Paul!

Two great-looking Barlows Dean

Thanks, Jack!

And a bowl of cherries;):D:D:thumbup:

Thanks, Gev. :) That was a one shot as I don't usually eat black cherries, but I did then just to make the black cherry TC happy.

Thanks for the pruner praise, Dean. :)

No need for a disclaimer, Gary. I just do it because I almost always post "fresh fotos." :)

I like your Texas Rangers Commemorative Colt Canoe.

+1

Carrying my Puma Bantam today.

A Very Merry Christmas to everyone here on Porch!

Merry Christmas, Tim! That's a gorgeous whittler you have there.

Today's carry.

Absolutely and a treasure to behold

Thanks pal :)

II think I remember that struggle myself, Jack! ;)
Congrats on your package and card, and on a successful conclusion to your quest to induct someone else into The Fellowship of the Ring-openers!

Thanks GT, the quest took longer than I had anticipated :D Handsome pockets my friend

Brilliant! :D

I would think that Bose would make that turkey taste soooo much better, Chris!

With me today.

Carrying this around very carefully (Actually in waxed paper) today to try and get used to the heft of it. If I can't I will sell it.
