Thanks my friend, I really like that pic :)

Rushing to complete this post as I dash out of the house with a TC Barlow and IXL Sheepsfoot, and Photobucket is bombarding me with ads - so much for going 'ad-free' :rolleyes) Have to add pics later :grumpy:

Thanks, Jack; gorgeous bone on that I*XL.

This pair for me today.

Simply beautiful, Paul.

Looks what I found! My long lost Cadet. A couple swipes on a steel and it's almost ready to do surgery!

Just a clean true traditional Jack knife there Dee:thumbup:

Atiger made me do it ;)

The Beekman Cutlery Co

A name unknown to me as well Gev, what a great veteran right there:cool:

Thanks for the kind words my friend, I'm struggling to keep up with this thread myself!

I'm with you Jack, hard to keep up:thumbup: your covered with any cutting task encountered with a great pair of knives:cool:

Carrying the new #71 today!

Daniel.

Such a great knife and I feel one of the best values available there Daniel:thumbup:

Going to carry this big Case to give it a fair shake, even if it's more than I normally carry.

I'm really liking your new CASE Alan:thumbup:

Bark River City Knife in zebra wood and an electric blue Farmer today.

Love the City Knives you post Tom, how many in your stable? Just looks like such a great fixed blade to carry:thumbup:
Can't go wrong with that pair![emoji1303]

Daniel.

Very nice Paul.

Paul

I can just see that BIG smile on your face...wow!

Thanks Paul, nice looking pair you have there.

Simply beautiful, Paul.

Thanks everyone, enjoy the day:thumbup: We went from a warm sunny 50° plus day yesterday to mid thirties and an inch of snow so far, had all but melted:grumpy:

Always nice to find a knife Joe and SAKS get so scary sharp, also nice mod to convert the file to an awl:cool:

The holiday is over, back to work today.

3 cheers for ebony spearpoint TCs; nice, ecallahan!

One of these two today. I haven't left the house yet:confused:

Alan, those are lavish knives; I can understand your dilemma. But either is a winner, so you should get yourself a Choice-making Conundrum Coin you can flip! Or, I've discovered that my pants usually have more than one pocket, so when in doubt, take both out! ;)

Photo taken yesterday but the knives remain the same.

That Schrade trapper is mesmerizing!

Bottle Cap and Marble Dreams

Gev, I love these shots with the bottle caps and the marbles!
+ 5K!! Gev, I too like your caps and marbles series! That vintage Hammer is 2 Legit 2 Quit!!

I did get to whittle that day and yesterday, too. It was a good long weekend. :)

Interesting canoe. Is it tipsy with that third blade?
...
It's TC Tuesday for me:

:D The gunboat canoe seems pretty stable to me, Greg (although I get tipsy with that third (or second) beer).
Splendid spoon you turned out! Did the sunny TC have a role in spoon-carving?

...
Thanks, Gary. That Zorro Barlow is far from ridiculous! I believe it is closer to the essence of what a Barlow represents in cutlery than many of the more expensive ones out there today. That is truly a boy's knife (and represents the kid in all of us).:) I have a few Lone Ranger knives myself (there, my dark secret is out. I feel so much better).

I'm carrying Coco today.

Thanks for the kind words about Zorro, Dean, and you make a valid point. Glad you could unburden yourself about the Lone Ranger knives, but for total release and complete healing, you'll probably need to post some photos. :D Heigh-Ho, Silver!
Great photo of the Calf Roper Slim!

Haven't posted in a loooooong time, just got busy with life, etc. I have missed the porch greatly, and hope to be around more often. (I tried to catch up on this thread, but it would take a solid week :) ).

Hey, I'd recognize that "Daily Double" posting anywhere! Welcome back, Tom! I was just thinking about you and your scouts on Sunday when I was loading my pockets with this week's scheduled knives, and the bailed non-SAK for the week was a Rough Rider Scout.

Bark River City Knife in zebra wood and an electric blue Farmer today.

That blue Farmer will catch our attention! (And I even remember the speckles in the zebra wood handle of your fixed blade.)

Amber Bone Texas Jack, my only Case at the moment and I am pretty impressed with it. For $38 its a steal, the edge was a little rough but it sharpened up so easy....I have yet to get a GEC to sharpen this quick. Just need to decide if it should be dyed cocoa brown or left to age as is.
Did a dye job last night so this is my carry for today.

The pen blade on the Texas Jack is so distinctive! I wish that model came with round bolsters.
Dye job looks fantastic, texmex!

GT,

Here are the GECs put aside: eldest daughter (10 in the spring) wanted the Kate, my son, just 7, gets the Congress and the double liner lock 23, next daughter, just 4, has the ez open, and youngest daughter has the liner lock 73 coming to her.

As for a Greek reading list--check out the Lattimore translations of the Iliad and Odyssey... they are closest to the originals, the ones I teach and recommend, and are simply beautiful. On a different, but oddly related note--Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian is worth a look. It is violent, grotesque, and yet sublime... and worthy of mention alongside Homer (I do not say that lightly).

Thanks for the comments and warm fellowship --Anthony
Thanks for sharing the knives you got for your offspring, Anthony; lots of variety! And thanks for the reading suggestions. I don't think I've ever read a "grown-up" version of Homer (i.e., an actual translation), and hope I can look up Lattimore this summer. Coincidentally, the past couple of meetings of a history/philosophy of math. class I'm teaching were devoted to Archimedes, and I ran across a quote from Voltaire (consider the source): There is an astonishing imagination, even in the science of mathematics. ... We repeat, there was far more imagination in the head of Archimedes than in that of Homer.

I carried these two today. A Lloyd in stag and a Vic Electrician.

Remarkable pair, Ken! I'm always impressed with old cross Alox and with Lloyd stag!

Gev, your Beekman is NOT meek, man! :p

Thanks for the kind words my friend, I'm struggling to keep up with this thread myself! Sounds like a great book. I did Classical Studies at school for several years, not sure they even have that subject in our schools here now

Great line-up GT, but for me, your Zorrow Barlow always stands out :)

Ravishing knives, Jack! Thanks for giving Zorro some props.

This was my Grandpaw Johns "nice" knife. Didn't get all use and sharpening of his other knives. Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.
...
Marvelous that you've got your grandpa's 881Y, Joe!

Going to carry this big Case to give it a fair shake, even if it's more than I normally carry.

Nice pic of a nice pair, Paul!

I was out walking the Old Erie Canal today and stopped to take a quick shot of my Lloyd. I noticed someone had been busy snacking on some trees along the shore.

Thanks Tom, I've missed your terrific twosomes :)

Thanks Jack, I have missed you all :).

A fine pairing and a treat to see, Tom :D

Thank you for the kind words Gev, much appreciated!

Love the City Knives you post Tom, how many in your stable? Just looks like such a great fixed blade to carry:thumbup:

Thanks Paul! 5 total, variety being the spice of life and all :). They are very easy to carry in a pocket sheath and work great for my daily needs. Although I do carry a Guardian3 or a custom on the days when I can have something on my belt.

Well done everyone!

Thanks for the comments on the Lloyd Stag and Vic Electrician flatblackcapo, Peregrin and Gary.

Great pair Paul and love that Soldier Gary.

Today I carried a TC Barlow and a Vic Pioneer.

Have a good one!

Ken K.

Gary I'd be looking over that Lloyd Shadow all the time if it were mine, fabulous knife. But, given the circumstances it looks like a GEC Beaver Tail might've been closer the mark :D

Thanks, Will

Thanks Gary; I actually do have a decision coin, and it goes well with the Wall Street model.

Thanks, Will. I've had the Lloyd in my pocket since the day it arrived. I don't see that changing any time soon. I think you're right about the Beaver tail.
