What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Carried my chestnut bone peanut all day in my pocket, but didn't need it. I didn't even feel it, but i knew it was there just in case.

i wonder if anybody ever gets to the end of this thread and cares what we carry? LOL
my favorite at this time is a Boker 5474 Stag four blade carbon steel Congress

beautiful handful of stag and steel. stays sharp cause i don't really cut anything with it. why? i am just pocket wearing it, to give it a pocket worn look.

all good

I picked up a large Snap-On stockman yesterday because I wanted to carry an inexpensive slipjoint with real bone scales and not have to worry about it on the lobster boat. The blades are "440 stainless" and it is made in china but fit and finish and walk and talk are very good. It came shaving sharp with even grinds on all of the blades and has a clip blade, sheepsfoot blade and a pen blade. I used it to cut some rope yesterday and today and barely touched it up on a fine diamond stone yesterday evening. it is still sharp. The shield says Snap-On and may be plastic or some type of die cast pot metal.

I have been carrying a swiss army knife and leatherman with me to work as well as a couple one hand tactical folders but the traditional urge was rekindled last week at the local boatyard and machine shop when I saw one of the machinists using a small 2 bladed pen knife with wood handles and stainless blades. One blade was definately a pen and the other was a mystery since it looked like it had broken off and was re-shaped. It was the size of an exacto knife blade and the same pseudo-wharncliffe shape as a stanley utility knife. I figured what the heck...if this guy found a slipjoint suitable for the work of a machinist and had no problem using it even missing the tips of 2 of his fingers, I could probably make due as well. We will see how the bone holds up to some long term salt water exposure...

If jackknife's watermen relatives got by with a stockman crabbing in the chesapeake, i should be able to do the same lobstering up here... :D

Sorry to take her off topic...I'll set it straight...knife only this time...

What a tease.... How about a pic? :D

my CV peanut today, even got to use it a bit..i bought a kitchen table, and the box was of course taped all over the place, so while the store guy was looking for a cutter, i said don't look, i have one here, and took my peanut out of the pocket, in hand. Guess he didn't see it, or didn't heard what i said, as he went for a cutter anyway. I must say that it took me longer to open the pen blade than to cut the tape off the box, it went through it like butter. The guy came back with a cutter, and he looked kind of impressed at the little knife in my hand.
