Swaybacksteve : I thank you for your compliments my friend . I do not know the age of the Boker yet . Have not been successful in finding any info at all on being able to date Bokers . I have only been able to find out where to buy a new one like it and a price . This knife has never been sharpened by anyone outside the factory . I doubt that it has ever cut anything . It looks like I got a Brand New Knife for a little less than half price . Didn't you get one very similar to this or just like it ??????

Harry yes I have one and it is a new one. Yours is a fairly recent release but has, as mentioned mellow and aged look to it. Mine was new when I got it and still has the sheen new things have, even though its been carried a number of times and has already opened two bottle of wine. Love the sportmesser.

Great photo of a fine knife, Aias. Enjoy your hike, I look forward to hearing about it.

Been using this one today.

Interesting knife! Who made it? What wood is the handle? How large is it? Do you have a picture with the blade open?

Thanks for the curiosity, this knife is made by Couteaux Farol in La Rochelle, France. It is made of Ebony wood and has a length of 11 cm (+/- 4.25 ").

Very cool Whale knife that, la baleine.

This arrived yesterday, another Black Box Winchester. Single-spring, Swell Centre Penknife. This one is going to be the user, fantastic slim knife, the Rogers Bone is super and you get a decent Spear master. All it needs is a good sharpen up and use. These are really good knives, a Small Gunstock 3" from the same series, came with with it and despite its small size it's burly and v.attractive. Not skimpy and toy like like some small knives can be, devil to photo though:eek:

Is that translucent ram's horn, Chin? Just when I think I'm satisfied, you've got me browsing Sheffield knives, looking up exchange rates...:o

I finally filed my taxes, it's the weekend, so it's time to bust out the "Party Knife." Gonna go barbecue :D

My all day, and every day carry, for the past ten months. The little Fridour is new, and I like it a lot!

It's Ox-horn r8shell - and yes it's almost completely translucent. Only a hint of feathering. You might have to look around a bit to find one like that.. I have seen a few others with partially translucent covers though.

Drop by the Lambsfoot thread if you want to see some more recent photos of it.

Awesome knife - and is that what you call a crawfish?

Mmmm, looks delicious...:)

Ox-horn. I've got to write that down. I'm always getting buffalo, ram, and ox confused. (the covers, I mean. Not so much the animals) :D

And yes, that's a live crawfish. Here's what they look like cooked:

I'm carrying my Camillus C4 today, but this Northwoods Zulu is riding shotgun. I'm sprucing up my freehand sharpening skills, and the Zulu gets the call as my training knife. I don't find the knife to be particularly pleasing to the eye, but the blade takes a very keen edge, and the denim micarta provides a sticky comfortable grip.

The Zulu is one of my dedicated beater knives. I tried to keep it looking nice, but even with zero use, it still got ugly. This knife can sit next to 10 other GEC's on my nightstand, and be the only one to rust. And when I say rust, I mean deep pitting with dark black patina. So, so strange. It's an absolute magnet for corrosion. I also have a black micarta version, which shows none of these issues.

Had just my 77 Barlow in my pocket when going to the Badger Blade Show

Came back with the 77 and these in my pockets ;

Harry

Very nice Harry. Sorry to have missed the show! Next year for sure. Beth is much better today.

Quite noble of your Zulu to sacrifice itself for its compatriots. Sort of a sacrificial anode.:)

Finally took my best GEC out today. Glad I did.

Thanks Aaron. I find it quite pleasing myself. The translucence of the bone at the bolster end is beautiful. 920116 in case your wondering. BTW I have a 92 cocobolo clip. Wonderful knife (and not for sale). ;)
