What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Very nice Will

Two elegant ebonys Jack. I hope you're headed to a wedding.

Thanks Alan  Not today! :D But I have to go to one next week ;)

Great pairing Jack. That Case teardrop has a special look. One of the most elegant Case Bose design catalogs. You're set for a good day, today.

Finally got a camp knife and I was eating beans for breakfast so i had to break it in

It performed okay. After the halfway mark it started to push the lid into the can. But with a little effort it opened it.

A little rough but it'll do

The secret is the 98 cattle knife in the slant pocket putting pressure on the R4243. If i pull out the 98 the r4243 is able to fall out. I have carried dual Saks in there for the same reason. I'm always checking to make sure it's there though.
Thanks for the hint. I always carry a relatively big knife in a leather slip in the "slant pocket", so I'll have to play around with what can fit snugly in the "short pocket".

... and this pair.

Classic pair of Case chestnuts, Ted!

Gary
Thank you so much kind sir. I don't have any idea how old it is and wonder myself if there is a clue in the bolster stamp. Great carries yourself...you spring chicken :D

The Humpback is Candy
Thanks, Gev. :) The pocket-worn harvest orange humpback stockman sure looks good to me, and feels even better, but I hadn't thought of tasting it - candy, you say?? :p

...
Thanks, Gary. Your knife wallet must be filled with pride to be carrying such venerable patterns - canoe, barlow and stockman!
...
Today it was Coco, the Calf Roper Slim. Tonight it will be my Vic Soldier.

Thanks, Dean. :) I always carry a canoe and a stockman, but seldom carry a Barlow. I don't have very many, and am not particularly obsessed with the pattern (although I would like to pick up a vintage bone Barlow someday, should the opportunity arise). Your knives are looking good (as is the "army guy")!

I'm carrying it for him, but I figured a pic of him with his knife was in order. Too soon? Lol

Phenomenal photo! That young man looks totally stoked to have his first knife! :D

...
Tremendous trio GT
...
I had an early start today, and a long day swapping tales with Stan Shaw, so reading this with match-sticks under my eyelids! But had these two in my pockets, my Wheatley Brothers Wheatsheaf Tackler and a William Morton Sleeveboard :)

Thanks, Jack. :)
Cool pair of knives, each of a style that doesn't get posted here too often!

...
Many thanks, Gary!
The possibilities are endless..... :D

Apparently money isn't the only thing that bring wallets happiness. :)
So true; both knives and cash can make a wallet feel good. Unfortunately, I can seem to have one, or the other, but not both!;)

Thanks, GT. The tree-men are coming back tomorrow to finish the job, so I'm going to carry Bokers again tomorrow. Unfortunately, I don't think hackberry wood is good for much, easily rots and splits. They grow fast, with shallow roots and will drop limbs. I used to hate the term "trash tree", thinking all shade is good shade. That was before these trash-trees started leaning over my house. :grumpy: It's all supposed to be hauled away, but I might grab a few pieces to play with.
...
Nice Barlow, is that Delrin or bone? It looks like the Delrin covers on my Boker, which has aged to a very nice, bone-like richness.

...
Thanks for the hackberry info, Rachel. My Barlow is Delrin. Those Bökers like yours sure are classics!

...
I thought I'd pair these two today :) Hope everyone has a good Friday, and an even better weekend

A double dose of the "dark side" certainly has its charms, Jack!

When in doubt, the Camillus C4

You sure have a scout troop you can be proud of, Buzz!

Congrats on scoring that monster camp knife, VashHash!

I have this baby copperhead in my bus pass holder this week:

In the kitchen this week, this Colt and JJ Martinez have handled the bulk of the food prep:

Thanks GT. That's a nice JJ Martinez sob buster. I wish more companies offered sods in stag. I'm thinking about picking up a silver stag sod buster to fill that gap.

That short pocket works great for saks. I sometimes put a huntsman in there with a lanyard on it.

Finally got a camp knife

Congratulations. That cranberry bone is real beauty!!!

When you have a spare moment, do a quick check, running your finger over the closed blade on the knife, and see if your finger catches the tip at all. It did on all 4 of mine. I had to file down the kick on the clip blade, just a hair, to keep from nicking myself on the blade tip.

I have a similar camillus but IIRC it's a BSA knife with the Phillips head, yours with the Bullet shield is much nicer. :)

I'll have to post a pic.

There is a bit of technique involved in using one of those, but if it's sharp and you are used to using it they can work great, and reasonably quick too. Not as fast as electric but close to the speed of a handcrank job I would say. I love those knives.

It's not too bad. I shouldn't catch my finger in it. It's more exposed than I like but it'll hit the brass spacer more if i file it down.
The cranberry bone is honestly my favorite color of the camp knives. It matches my cattle knife too. Just trying to track down a matching Whittler at a decent price.

I'm planning on sharpening the can opener a bit. The tip is pretty sharp but about midway down its not a full bevel. Just stops short of meeting the other side.

Thanks Alan, I thought those two would go well together :)

Cool Kitty

Nice pic

I'm heading out for a hike tomorrow, and the weather forecast says sunshine :) Packing these two with me. Have a great weekend everyone
