What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I purchased this Case medium stockman in 2008, the amber bone scales are getting a nice hue.

I really like the color and contrast of the bone as well.

a nice pair of 2006 73's in rogers jig bone

Wow. Those are nice. I love that Roger's Jig. I have some on my 15S115(s) and I love it. It's cool to see knives from GEC that old.

Same knife, since I got it. I have a new Peach-seed TC Barlow - I still haven't carried..but new - that can't beat this knife out of my pocket.

I love the denim micarta that KSF uses. I really like the #48 that's KSF's SFO with a clip-point blade. I'm surprised at how much I absolutely love this knife.

r8shell, your BFC Stag Jack is sweet knice stag on that one. :) I really like the Old Timer Whittlin' Jack, is it a Chinese one? I've never seen one prior to this. If you could send me a PM on how much and where you got the Old Timer I'd appreciate it. If it's not too much I'd like to get one.

Thanks Dean. :D Nice coloring on your Case. That one has stood the test of time very well.

Thanks, Bob!

You sure have some exquisite Barlows, Dean!

Sorry for the confusion! :( Yeah, I was referring to the toy soldier, although with all your walking, I'm sure a former Army guy like you is in good shape, too! ;) When I was a lad, we never called those toy soldiers (or tin soldiers), always just army guys (as opposed to cowboys and Indians - we had a bunch of those figures too). We'd set up formations of army guys in the drafty, cold Big Room upstairs in our farmhouse, then use pigs from the "farm set" as artillery shells that we'd fire toward the soldiers from the spring latches of old suitcases that were stored up there. Fun Times! :D

I pulled out a Rough Rider marlin spike knife to help me make lunch today:

Thanks, Gary! That's a cool childhood story about the Army guys. Your Rough Rider and photo are top notch!

My non-Alox SAK of the Week is a 4-layer Vic Explorer (not exactly petite):

That's a nice older Explorer, Gary!

This one again for me today.

It's a brand new model pretty obviously patterned after the Flexcut Carvin' Jack. Chinese made with carbon steel blades. I wrote a first impression and review over in the Whittling Corner thread:

I'll PM you with the rest of the deets.

My stag 81 today. Watering the garden and muscadines earlier. Now I'm sitting on the porch swing waiting on the kids to get home. The new baby is inside and asleep. The back side is prettier than the front side so that's the side you get. The patina is even better.

Thanks, Jack; I make healthy meals, and when I'm finished, I top them off with a pile of Snyders flavored pretzel pieces with stratospheric fat/chemical/cholesterol index! :o
I envy your ability to bring out the occasional ebony/ivory pairing!

Useful Uticas, Jack! Is the Barlow handle purple?

Are Snyders unhealthy?!  :(

Thanks for the compliments my friend, I'm loving the 'Heavy Metal'! :D

Very nice Jeff

:D

Those sure are special Harry

Beautiful

Great-looking Barlows gents :)

Interesting and creative re-purposing of your horizontal shelving unit, r8shell!!:D
- GT

That is an interesting way to use an old shelf unit r8shell .
I am anxious to see how it works with your tomatoes too. I have not found what I consider to be a good Tomato Cage yet .

Harry

It's working very well as a tomato condo, with eggplants around the outside. I'm encouraging the tomato vines to weave through the wire shelves. It looks better now that the plants are filling and covering the white. I admit it looked a little trashy at first. :D

Knife content: I don't know if stag is kosher, but I pulled the Forum Stag Jack out of the box for the seder last night (pic from last year). This is a knife that just gets better with age and wear. I think it's going to stay in my pocket all week.

Tidal Wave of finery here lately :D Just can't begin to understand how somebody could NOT be enthralled by the beauty and diversity of Traditional knives?:cool:

Ron Hooray for Dixie! :D Fine patina on that OO both handle & blade. I'm hoping they do something with that frame later this year CC has an SFO Skinner proposal but I could reach for a Clip/Wharncliffe or Drop-Point/Wharncliffe version any moment. As I've said before, an exact scaled down version 3 3/8" or 3.5" would be magic.

Thanks, Will

Will - Forgive the tardy reply to your compliment on my OO Dixie and thank you my friend for your kind words. I would prefer the Clip/Wharncliffe version, because quite frankly, this small Wharncliffe blade is without a doubt one of the best secondary blades in any knife I own. But being a fan of the single spring/double blade configuration. I will happily take a Possum Skinner as proposed! :D

Ron, you might have the nicest examples of OO on BF, OK?;) I always remember your OO 73, but I apparently forgot all about your ravishing OO Dixie stockman until you posted it, and I thought, "How could I forget that??" Blades and covers simply stunning!

Sucha Beautiful Jackknife, Ron!

Gary - Thank you for your always kind words and compliments! ;)

Today was TC Tuesday for me :D
