Looking good, Greg!:cool: I've never handled a GEC #14; how small do they feel? You obviously are smitten with the single-blade models , and don't agree with those who claim they're too thin without 2 blades. (Are any of the non-Barlows available with 2 blades?)

Thanks GT. They feel a bit smaller than a 34OT, as you might expect, since the 34OT is longer and has more blades. But, not nearly as much smaller as I'd expected. The single-blade model still feels plenty comfortable in my hand. I wear a medium in gloves and get a 3 1/2 finger grip on the 14. I really like its slim profile in the pocket.

They did make two-blade, non-Barlow 14s. In fact, I think some are still available new from dealers.

Speaking of 34OTs, that's what I've got in my pocket today:

South Africa. The Okapi ratchet knife used to be made in Germany for the African market, and became a favorite of Keith Richards by way of Jamaican rudeboys. In addition to the ratchet, there are several Okapi slip joint designs that I had never seen until they appeared on the Baryonyx site. I have no idea if those are old designs or if they originated after production shifted to SA.

I agree that Opinel is a paragon of sophistication and refinement by comparison. But if you want a sheepsfoot blade on an Opinel, you have to grind it yourself.
Thanks Henry. I'd not been to Baryonyx before. I just had a look. Funny thing is, they describe the Okapi Genet as a sheepsfoot, but they're showing clipped blades. The Svord caught my eye too, very nice looking when open. Just don't know about the protruding tang when closed.

This has become my regular Sunday carry for a while now.
