What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

After a brief back and forth with Bob yesterday, I realized I better smell the roses and come post here every now and again.

What a beaut!

You sure do have an eye for superbly dyed bone.

And those anchor knives always make me want my own "Popeye" knife. ;)

Here's my awfully homely carry for the day :)

You have a different take on"homely" from the way I use that word. That knife is a knock out.

Hey Marty, I have two questions for you...
1. Is that a Sodbuster Jr in Whiskey bone handles?
2. Was any filter used for this photo?

I've been wanting a Sodbuster jr, and have been trying to decide between Whiskey bone and burnt salmon handles. This photo may have tipped the scales...

Nice knives posted today everyone. A long day but a very nice arrival today. My second custom from Ian Vanreenen:thumbsup:

I was very pleased with my black Micarta Zulu so when I saw this style and color combo I was quick to act. The covers may not appeal to all but they're one of my favorite combos:thumbsup:

Yes that is a Sodbuster Jr CV in Whiskey bone handles. The photo was brightened just a small amount but I did not adjust the saturation.
Being thinner than the Delrin versions it carries great in the pocket. On looks, I love how the patina on the blade is starting to match the shield.
Note: I did have the dealer pull out three or four boxes till I found one that the fit and finish was acceptable.

What's not to love Paul? Beautiful piece, I'd carry it for sure. I've taken to the Micarta bolsters and covers. :)

Absolutely gorgeous Gary. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Do y'all realize this thread has broken 100k replies now?

I don't carry this one enough. Mammoth Davison.

Very, very very nice!!!

I've been carrying my new Navy Knife for the past few days. I'm very pleasantly surprised at how much I like it. I thought the bail would be a pain, but I've become quite amphibious...I mean ambivalent towards it.

They sure appeal to me!! Black and orange are just great together. Love the acorn too! All around a great piece! What steel?

Then how do you eat grapes? With your hands like a savage?!?
:D
I eat my grapes sliced in half, in a very civilized manner, and mixed into my oatmeal. ;)

Thanks GT. It an UN X LD 13 American Whittler in African blackwood.
...
Mine the last few days, TA Davison 892. Linerless, 1/16" thick blade, burgundy Micarta, acid washed ATS34. It's incredibly light, and slices like a razor. It came up on the Exchange last week. I deliberated, since it's a bit of a 'plain jane' for Todd's work. But, the price was right (comparatively speaking) and I like to use my knives, so figured this was a good one to start with. I'm not disappointed. (There's two firsts here, my first Micarta too.)

Thanks for the technical term for your #13 whittler, Tom, and congrats on your Davison!!:thumbsup: I always examine my new acquisitions closely, but you seem to be taking the initial inspection to a whole new microscopic level! :D

Very cool photo: knice knoir knife!:cool:

Thanks pal, I always enjoy seeing your Winchester
...
These two for me today :)

...Taking my Cory Hess-gifted Doctor's Knife and ebony Lambsfoot :)

Thanks, Jack; my Winchester asked me to pass on that it enjoys seeing you and yours! :p
Some dignified dark wood you had for Wooden Wednesday!:cool::thumbsup:
I hope you had a good day in York, and didn't get into trouble impersonating a physician!;)

That electrician is dripping with character too

A city knife and a radio jack today, on the rocks as it were :).

Your daily double looks fabulous on the rocks, Tom! Are the rocks reproducing? There seem to be more each day. ;) Thanks for the compliment on my Holub, and "thanks" for rubbing in my plunge into the dark side! Be assured that I've already declared a MORAtorium on the purchase of fixed blades!

I know it's "Wooden Wednesday", but I'm having "Synthetic Week"

View attachment 736965
Unreal! (Is that a synonym for "synthetic"?)

Ankermessers aweigh, oldtymer! :thumbsup::cool:

... Today it's the Kutmaster Coca Cola Jack Knife and maybe the Russ lock with my initials carved into the yellow Delrin scales. ;) :)

Yes & Yes. :)

The great cutlery continues.....
One more question about that rust red jigged bone White Owl, Dee: is it numbered 682211, released on December 19, 2011??:thumbsup:;)

Desert Ironwood without appearing to be desert ironwood.
Dare to be different. :)

IMG_20141031_123915.jpg
Divinely different, Dee!:thumbsup: (Do you always buy knives in identical pairs, or are you using some kind of CGI wizardry to show both sides of the same knife in many of your photos??)
