What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Beautiful. If I may ask - was that custom re-scaled, maybe using an original shield?

Thanks for asking. It wasn't a custom, believe it or not this is actually an ironwood second. Something must have gone wrong during the final polish or in transit, as I believe it is the same knife shown in this production photo. It isn't marked as a second but was sold as one, it has a split in the wood on the mark side.

Recently bought this used Gerber Stag Strongman and am luvin it!

Can someone kindly point me to where I can get more information about this knife? I'm only able to see a couple of YouTube videos, and nothing more.

That's a good-looking knife. Are you sure it's a Strongarm and not a Stockman, though? I believe the Strongarm is a modern fixed blade.

The most info I can find on this model comes from Gerber's website. It's most likely made in China; I can't find anything about the steel beyond it being stainless; the stag looks to be genuine; it's discontinued.

The site also mentions "bronze liners," which is either a typo (they meant brass) or -- in my experience, at least -- very unusual. ;)

What info are you looking for, specifically?

Opps! Youre right, its a Stockman. Sorry for the mistake. I already corrected it.

I'm more keen about the stag if it's genuine. As I bought it used cheap (US$10), I assume it's from China, but I'm okay with it. I'm also keen about what kind of stainless was used, I'm guessing 440A at best. And yes, the liners do look like brass. I do like the fact that the main blade is a lockback.

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase as this re-ignited my interest in traditional knives.

Thanks for the info, Dadpool :)

That's an interesting and decent looking locking Stockman, etched bolsters are a nice feature too. Bargain price that anybody would've responded to:thumbsup: I'm certainly glad to hear it's re-kindled your interest in the Traditional type of knife, there's such a lot of choice here:)

Regards, Will

surprised by the good deal I got as well, Will! I checked the reviews on Gerber site (Dadpool alluded to) and saw that this discontinued model's MSRP was US$40. A couple of guys are even selling theirs for US$70-80 over at another site. I feel like I got an excellent bargain! :D

Now I'm watching a lot of Youtube videos on traditional knives and checking the pictures here in the Forum :)

One more question about that rust red jigged bone White Owl, Dee: is it numbered 682211, released on December 19, 2011??:thumbsup:;)

Divinely different, Dee!:thumbsup: (Do you always buy knives in identical pairs, or are you using some kind of CGI wizardry to show both sides of the same knife in many of your photos??)

For me this week, my Euro Knife of the Week is a JJ Martinez sodbuster, pictured (not very clearly :() alongside the Case CV chestnut jigged bone Sodbuster Jr I carry every day, every week:

Multiples & Photo Enhancement <--- Yes to both. :D

Three great companions.

Two days, two beauties. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I took these two on the trail today. First up, a Case Appaloosa Barlow that was a gift from Dee (GuestWho101). Thanks, Dee!

And second is my current EDC, the 2015 BladeForums CSC double-ended jack.

Thanks Dean!

Happy to see you two getting along together. :)
Looks right at home out on the trail.

Your daily double looks fabulous on the rocks, Tom! Are the rocks reproducing? There seem to be more each day. ;) Thanks for the compliment on my Holub, and "thanks" for rubbing in my plunge into the dark side! Be assured that I've already declared a MORAtorium on the purchase of fixed blades!

Same stones, just dispersing them better perhaps :). That is a cool sodbuster, love the bail on it. (nice wordsmithing too on your "MORAtorium" sir)
