What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Same as yesterday, I generally pull out what I will carry for the week on Sunday night and I carry those till Saturday when I do my Saber Saturday and pick of the day Sunday.

A lucky pawn shop find. I thought it was an older knife, since there's obviously lots of blade wear, but when I took it home and washed it, I noticed some of the red dye staining the towel. I've only experienced that on some new knives. I don't know how someone could use and sharpen a knife so much without the excess dye bleeding out.

Use lemon oil to set the dye, then let it dry for 24 hours. Won't hurt it, it's a trick a knife maker told me years ago. Works for most types of dyes.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I'll bet it'll make the knife smell nice, too. :D

Thank you again, Erik! This beauty is going to get a lot of pocket time.

Barrett at first I thought that Carvin was a LB76 but it has 1 too many control knobs what model is it? Beautiful bass though.

Thanks, Randy. I customized/ordered that bass from Carvin about 15 years ago -- which is to say it's been a while -- but I'm pretty sure it is an LB76 (unfortunately, it isn't marked anywhere on the bass itself, and the paperwork is filed away somewhere, but I'd say I'm about 94% sure :D). They had (have?) so many different options for electronics, pickups, etc. that I'm pretty sure the number of control knobs varies.

Good looking Seahorse Whittler! I like the color of those covers/scales/handles/etc.! ;)

Love that "Knife on Guitar" idea.

This is my contribution, a bit different though, something classy, non steel strings. A hand made Alhambra in late 90's and a hand made Laguiole in early 2000's.

Very nice! As a bass player first and (somewhat fat-fingered) guitar player second, I've always appreciated the string spacing on Spanish/classical guitars. I owned one for a while (nothing special), but traded it towards the Martin I have now (I got a killer deal on that guitar).

The Laguiole pairs nicely with that guitar!

Hanks, man! And I love that swayback jack case.
Thanks, Joey; the SBJ isn't very big, but it's sure a great knife.

Oh yeah Gary, my favorite player of all time. There is no second place. I started watching baseball just as he started his career.
Great player, but this life-long Detroit Tiger (and Al Kaline) fan has to add that it's too bad Mantle played for the hated Yankees!;)

My constant companion for the previous two years. Boker 494

Thanks GT! I think G. Knauth is a hardware company. Not sure who made the knife though. Your Case sowbelly is something special! Beautiul bone and jigging!

My Case today

I received this out of the generosity of one of our friends (@totkst1) here in a GAW. It's my only canoe, and I wouldn't have purchased one myself. But, it's turned into a real favorite of mine, really full of character.
That's a nice looking canoe. I have my first arriving tomorrow. We'll see if it becomes a user. It sure looks good, as do all canoes. I've been tempted numerous times because who doesn't like the lines of a canoe. In any event, mine is stag which means it'll be ok.
Thanks for the encouraging words, Tom. :) As a hardcore "canoeseur", I can't help but admire your ravishing Case canoe!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Looking forward to seeing your new canoe, too, Alan! And I agree with you on the stag making ANY knife at least OK (and probably a LOT better than OK ;)).

Mammoth-ish

Captivating Camillus EO teardrop, Steve!:cool::cool::thumbsup: The bail is a real bonus, IMHO!

These two for me, Happy Friday!

Tom, congrats to you and everyone else (at least 007hunter and Drew have posted them today, I think) on picking up those Lionsteel barlows!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: Is yours ram's horn? They seem to be shipping both light and dark versions of the ram's horn, and both look impressive.

It's been back to monotony for me lately with the SB 77 in my pocket and the 5160 buck 110 on my hip.

Thanks, 5K. Actually, I found two of 'em. :) They're small, so I'm carrying them both today.

20170812_071226-1_resized.jpg The wooden pen is 2 ¼".

I also have my new Lionsteel Roundhead in carbon fiber. It doesn't have the handmade warmth of a traditional pocket knife, so I think of it more like a traditionally inspired modern slipjoint. That said, it's a very well made knife!

Thanks, GT. I'll post some more of them soon. Just gotta get more pockets.

Found room in my pockets for some old, though still green, companions today. Should get my lunch pals talking. On the left is a 3 5/8" tear drop by "Cattaraugus Cutlery Co., Little Valley, NY" and on the right is a 3 3/4" swell end by "N.C. CO. CANTON, O" - Novelty Cutlery Company, Canton, OH. Personally, I find it hard to research knives for either of these companies, but it is interesting (and I like them).
