A lucky pawn shop find. I thought it was an older knife, since there's obviously lots of blade wear, but when I took it home and washed it, I noticed some of the red dye staining the towel. I've only experienced that on some new knives. I don't know how someone could use and sharpen a knife so much without the excess dye bleeding out.
Thanks, I'll give it a try. I'll bet it'll make the knife smell nice, too.Use lemon oil to set the dye, then let it dry for 24 hours. Won't hurt it, it's a trick a knife maker told me years ago. Works for most types of dyes.
Thank you! It was described as textured. Not sure if tooled or not? That's pretty cool on the pile side. How do they describe it? Is the scoring natural or tooled?
Thank you Jack!Like your Ya Ya Knife Drew!![]()
Errr...possibly?![]()
Sorry, got it now!![]()

I received this out of the generosity of one of our friends (@totkst1) here in a GAW. It's my only canoe, and I wouldn't have purchased one myself. But, it's turned into a real favorite of mine, really full of character.
Thanks for the encouraging words, Tom.That's a nice looking canoe. I have my first arriving tomorrow. We'll see if it becomes a user. It sure looks good, as do all canoes. I've been tempted numerous times because who doesn't like the lines of a canoe. In any event, mine is stag which means it'll be ok.
Superb photo, Dee!Mammoth-ish

Congrats on finding yet another big-league Böker, r8shell!!A lucky pawn shop find. I thought it was an older knife, since there's obviously lots of blade wear, but when I took it home and washed it, I noticed some of the red dye staining the towel. I've only experienced that on some new knives. I don't know how someone could use and sharpen a knife so much without the excess dye bleeding out.
At any rate, I like it a lot.

It's been back to monotony for me lately with the SB 77 in my pocket and the 5160 buck 110 on my hip.
