What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

That is such a classy knife. I love its casual simplicity, yet understated elegance. I have been eyeballing Otter Messer knives for a bit now, they seem to have some great offerings.
I'm a fan of Otter's big spearpoints (as on my Black Cat)!:cool::thumbsup: Are the handles of your knife some kind of blond horn, Chin?

Thanks for the compliments on the Otter Messer, Dylan, Zolthar, Jack and GT.

GT, I notice that Otter Messer/Linder under the 'new' (post 2012) ownership, use cattle bone. IIRC, the vendor I purchased my knife from, before 2012, said this one is camel bone.

Dylan, I think the newer version of this Otter Messer model, with the fluted bolsters, looks even more casually elegant, without being overstated.

Your Ankermesser's a fine fistful of knife, my friend!

This is a re-cycled picture but it has been a pretty busy day : A little wood for Wednesday . This is a 38 that my wife picked out and I like it a lot .

Wow, Harry! Maybe you need to set her up with a knife buying account! She sure has impeccable taste! The form of that 38/Wharncliffe style handle, plus that beautifully figured bocote, elevate each other nicely.

Thanks y'all.

I tossed the ebony Lambsfoot in my pocket for Wooden Wednesday.

Nice pic, Kevin, I like the contrast of ebony and carbon blade patina against your char-cloth tin.

Sun's out, must be time to air out a WLST, or two...:)

Nancy thanks you very much Chin . Actually she does have an account at my favorite dealer also .

P, it's nice to see a FF knife here. I've tried to get in on a FF Friday twice with no joy. It's too tough to do at work. (I figured I'd best stop trying when my boss walked in the second time around. Had some explaining to do. :D)

Whoops! Yes, Fiddleback Fridays are not for everyone-- including me. There's no way I can compete, and I don't care to compete as part of any knife acquisition process. I've had good success via the Fiddleback Flea Market (sub-forum exchange), communication with FF Dealers and sometimes the shop directly, and a good dollop of serendipity. Including as of yesterday:

... I'm not going to recover from this one!

I'm really digging that pony jack! Looks like a 66 that went to the chiropractor.

Well, that's one way to put it! :D

I do like the subtle swerve in the #66 frame-- it's a favorite, and out-of-hand I'd say I even prefer it to the #68-- but there is just something so right about this equal-end Pony Jack.

I'm now interested in revisiting the #66 Jack with its backside pen (also a preference), but only as a point of comparison-- because comparing is one of the things I love to do most, in enjoying my knives. The #68 Jack has what the French call that certain 'I don't know what.' ;)

I'm glad I heeded this one's call last month.

#68 White Owl, #68 Pony Jack, #66 Harness Jack, #66 Calf Roper

The Pony Jack's clip blade looks a little 'snubbed' to me in isolation (on my knife and in others' pictures), but it's actually the same size as that on its #66 cousins:

For someone like myself with hand dexterity issues, the 68 Pony Jack would be my perfect pocket knife if only the pen were behind the main. I've had several and have a love/hate relationship with them. I love the pattern, I hate that I cannot manipulate the main blade open with any relative ease. The straight equal end just feels so right.

Yes, I can see how that would be the case. I prefer the easier access of the pen when oriented behind the main, even without compounding issues. I also like the straighter shot at the main, especially if it has a long pull.

Your SBJr is looking SHARP, Tom! ;):thumbsup: And that blond ram's horn is noteworthy!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

This week I've been carrying a Case CV chestnut jigged bone peanut (among other knives):

Two knives I carried last week have been on kitchen duty this week, a Rough Rider melon tester and a knife my daughter got for me in Toledo, Spain:

Thanks GT, terrific trio, especially the Toledo!

I had these two with me today:

While setting up a dedicated sharpening table. Something I have wanted to do for a while but never got around to it.
