What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

taking this along for Stag Saturday.

5K Qs 5K Qs I like that Rough Rider trapper, GT. A strapping, good looking knife. It will probably do most of what the Case folding hunter I posted (65 SAB) can do, though not as beefy (or heavy). Thanks for the compliment on the Case pair. The one on the top is a Pattern 30 from 1920-1940, the one below is a younger Pattern 47 from 1978.

Thanks for the comment on my RR trapper, Stuart. I like looking at trappers, but for some reason I don't enjoy carrying/using them. Is there an "unnumbered name" for that Pattern 30 (like "cigar pen" or something)? Its symmetry is striking!!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks ! Yes, it was a Colonial brand
Thanks for the confirmation, Steve.

You're getting a nice patina on that Squirrel. :)
Thanks. I don't remember exactly what meals I used it for, but I know it didn't take much time to get that patina. (And, as usual with a new carbon steel knife, I "cheated" a little by dipping it in the juice of a jar of hot pepper rings to induce a more uniform "base coat".)

GT, your "Variations of Cool" had me cracking up wondering what you would come up with next!

The ever-present Peanut is hanging with his English buddy today.

Thanks, Shawn. :) I try to give myself little mental exercises to stave off the effects of advancing age. A couple of weeks ago, during part of a 45-minute walk to work, I was composing alternative lyrics for "Johnny B. Goode" that incorporated names of BF members I knew were from "deep down in Louisiana" (Wurrwolf, Woodrow, SVTFreak).

That's pocket knife royalty right there!!!:thumbsup::cool: Congrats, Travman!

Olsen OK 511 (1978 or earlier) in bone stag/brass and Queen City Cattleman in Rogers bone (1922-1932).

Your Queen cattleman is amazing, Stuart!:cool::thumbsup: But the Olsen always fascinates me since I live about 35 miles from Howard City.

Haven’t been around as much as I should lately, going to try to correct that. Carrying these two on a gorgeous fall day.

I'm always a sucker for black/orange knife combos, and I enjoy the ones you've often posted involving your orange Alox, Tom.:cool: But you lose nothing using the orange Sodbuster!:cool:;)

I love this configuration and covers. The Phillips looks like a machine gun on the side of the fuselage.

That is a fascinating Vic variation, HST!!:thumbsup::)

Early 70s Case XX Whaler 11031 SH
The pull is like a 12, but I love it.
Those Case Whalers sure are appealing knives, xceptnl!!:cool::thumbsup: (Condolences on the pull you rated a 12 though ; I don't enjoy fighting a knife open.)

Another Boker followed me home the other day.

Congrats on another of those tree-bolstered Barlows, Steve!!:thumbsup::cool:

In the woods today with another TC; this one is blood red.

Superb TC, Dean! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Shadows are getting longer. Finally felt like fall today!

Glad you got a break from the heat, Dschal, although I doubt if the weather will ever get as cool as your knife!:cool:;)

Ebony Ulster today. Still could use a little clean-up and fix the main blade wobble but it still has a nice snap.

Whoa, that swayback ebony Ulster is the cat's meow, tomsch!!:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Robeson today.

Superlative handles on your Robeson, rockman!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Carried these 2 old Robeson Electrician Knives today ....

Harry
Both Robeson Electricians are superb, Harry, and I suppose there's more blade-life in the other one, but I think I prefer this one with the bail!!:thumbsup::cool:

I used this Okapi Biltong and Case pen as my primary kitchen knives this week:

With so few options for a man to play with a suit, this is an awesome play. I’d show mine, but it’s not as forum friendly. Well payed, Professor.
