What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

5K Qs 5K Qs GT, I carry trappers as a bird/small game hunting/fishing knife, so it will usually be in a big coat/pant pocket or pack. they aren't petite. As to the Case Pattern 30, I appreciate your inquiry, as it caused me to go back and look at my description. The Case Pattern 30 is an equal end pen and the spey blade on mine rules that out (although it has the size and handle/bolster shape of the 30). I should have caught that when I was cataloging my knife. My knife seems to fall through the spaces of the research materials that I have consulted following your comment, but the closest that I can pin it is an early variation of the long-discontinued Pattern 53, which would make it an equal end cattleman's knife (though most of those appear to have been 3-bladed knives). I haven't found a picture of a Pattern 53 cattleman. I may need a B. Levine consultation.

Thank you, Gary, for you compliment on my TC

I find the Case yellow pen (in CV) to be an essential knife around the house, too!

Your tie and clip show you to be a man of distinction and discernment (and a knife knut)!

Did someone say Schrade Saturday? I had mySC505 out yesterday, so today I'm spending some time with my little 807UH (USA-made). I bought this one used and the edges were terrible. Every so often I get it out to work on it a bit, taking it slow because there's not a lot of metal there to work with! It's slicing pretty well now, though.

First day with this beauty. Yeah yeah, I know some of the "purists" don't like it, but traditional styling, Abalone covers, titanium bolsters and liners and topped off with an M390 blade? That's a working knife from the ground up.

Nice one A R. I bought this Uncle Henry in 1970, (The one in the middle), & carried it every day for almost 30 years. It was the first knife that I paid over $10 for. As you can see, the main blade is worn down pretty good & the secondary blades are about the same.

GT, I'm not too familiar with the Squirrels. What is the handle finish? (The background piece is equally intriguing although I know not what it is.)
Tom, I apologize for not replying sooner. I saw your question but somehow missed including it in my multiquotes.
Vendor descriptions of the Squirrel usually include something like "silver finish folded steel handles". Seems like chrome-plated handles to me, but that might be incorrect. The background of that photo is the top of some kind of stand pipe outside my building at work. I don't know much about "macro plumbing", but two chromed pipes with a couple of capped valves at the top of each were installed next to the manhole that gives access to a couple of water mains that supply my building and a nearby dormitory.

...
Thanks pal, "interesting" wasn't meant as an insult! :D :p Thanks for the correction on the Squirrel, that's a great pic
...
Two smashers GT! :)

I'm about to head over to Sheffield, taking these two with me ;)

A striking pair of knives for your Sheffield visit, Jack!:cool::thumbsup: Thanks for the comments on my knives. :)

Well I never understood that track, as a kid, but now… Could this have been Yoko Ono's favourite EDC knife?

Now, that I can understand!;):D
Your explanation is as feasible as any I've heard! ;) Splendid Queen stockman, Chin!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Cool pic, Stuart!:cool::cool: Vic Electrician is probably my favorite Alox SAK (most of the time; Farmer is right up there, too ;)).

These two today.... I am happy it is Friday...
Fabulous Friday pair, Dylan! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Haven't carried this one in years but I decided to get it out, touch up the edges, and put it in my rotation. This is a 1989 Schrade (USA) SC505 full-size stockman and is my only non-stainless steel slipjoint*. It was found at a trailhead in Idaho sometime in the 90's -- no one around and no way to return it to the owner. The slip case is homemade from a scrap of leather and that's Andy the Android keeping a watch over it. The steel seems to be very nice! The perfect knife for a high-tech farm boy.

(I always forget to wipe off the blades before taking a picture.)

*Oops, I forgot that I have a Camillus TL-29 from the 70s.
