What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Tom, I apologize for not replying sooner. I saw your question but somehow missed including it in my multiquotes. :confused:
Vendor descriptions of the Squirrel usually include something like "silver finish folded steel handles". Seems like chrome-plated handles to me, but that might be incorrect. The background of that photo is the top of some kind of stand pipe outside my building at work. I don't know much about "macro plumbing", but two chromed pipes with a couple of capped valves at the top of each were installed next to the manhole that gives access to a couple of water mains that supply my building and a nearby dormitory.

A striking pair of knives for your Sheffield visit, Jack! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Thanks for the comments on my knives. :)

Your explanation is as feasible as any I've heard! ;) Splendid Queen stockman, Chin! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

That vivid Viper is one to cherish, Ron! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks, Ratbert; I totally agree. :)

Brian, that's probably the most vibrant, amazing acrylic I can remember!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Fabulous Friday pair, Dylan! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Capital carbon steel knife, Ace! The scrimshaw ducks are icing on the cake. :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup:

That's a clean, crisp shot of a commendable couple of knives, Tom! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Wow, that's a distinctive, desirable trapper, Jeff! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: So many impressive features: stag, shield, serpentine frame, blade shapes ... :cool::cool:

That one GLOWS, Harry!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool::cool:

Thanks for the kind words my friend :) I like your 'Constants', they are all quite different, each special in their own way, and I think you have everything covered with them in terms of versatility :) :thumbsup:

Nice one A R. I bought this Uncle Henry in 1970, (The one in the middle), & carried it every day for almost 30 years. It was the first knife that I paid over $10 for. As you can see, the main blade is worn down pretty good & the secondary blades are about the same.

Quite a nice collection! I can't tell from the picture if that is an 855UH or an 885UH. I have an 885UH that I gave my father before he passed away. He had lost the knife that he had carried all his life and I wanted to give him something that would be a proper replacement. I knew nothing about knives at the time so I selected that one based mostly on price and I think I made a good selection. That looks like a well-sharpened Buck 703 Colt on the right. I have one of those, also, and mine has also lost the black lettering in the shield.

Wonderful Barlow, Jack, and the background makes me want to put some air in the tires and oil up my old Raleigh.

What a charismatic knife, r8shell!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: Speaking of books, the "Good Book" contains a parable about a "pearl of great price" - you've got one! ;)
Thank you, GT. I've always admired mother of pearl's iridescence, but I fear I'll drop and crack it. On the other hand, life is too short not to enjoy something while you have it. Besides, I got it for a great price. ;)

Almost forgot. Today's carry:Case Whittler new & books .jpg

Thank you r8shell, a gift from Mr Charlie :) I think Meako's dad might have worked at the Raleigh factory once. Beautiful knife and a great pic :thumbsup:

The only number on the Uncle Henry is "885." It has the squared off bolsters. I bought the Buck for a little bit smaller carry knife, but I retired it when the one handle started to develop a split at the one pin. Other than adding a Buck 110 for hunting & camping, those two stockmans were my daily carry for over 30 years.

Occasionally, I'll look at all the knives that I've accumulated in just the last 15 years & all the money I spent on them, and think, "What the hell!" It's nice to have choices though.:)

D Duckdog
Thanks Stuart. Haven't been around as much lately so it's good to hear from you because I've been meaning to compliment you on the little Olsen. I'm a fan of small, unusual things and that knife screams "wow."

Did someone say Schrade Saturday? I had mySC505 out yesterday, so today I'm spending some time with my little 807UH (USA-made). I bought this one used and the edges were terrible. Every so often I get it out to work on it a bit, taking it slow because there's not a lot of metal there to work with! It's slicing pretty well now, though.

A nice rescue and a new life well worth the effort. Thanks for sharing.
