What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

@Emspop
Thanks Clay. I've never been a customs guy, but when I saw that Lloyd I couldn't grab it fast enough. You're right about Case's rough black. It's a classic. The only one I have is a recent humpback stockman, but it is as well made as knives costing many times more.

@Peregrin
Good to see the Halfrich Gary. It was that knife that got me looking at customs and ultimately the Lloyd I picked up.

It's a fun little knife; I'm fairly certain it'll be in my pocket again soon! Thanks again, Jack!

That's certainly above my skill level. (Then again, my skill level basically consists of canoeing down slow moving streams and rivers.) :D

That Viper is a beaut, Ratbert! I have the same one, and it doesn't find its way into my pocket as often as it should.

Thanks, GT! Those bright orange handles certainly added a little cheer to my daily carry. :D (And as a Razorback fan, I'm going to need all the extra cheer I can get to make it through this football season.)

I completely agree with you about Opinels. They may not be as interesting as a lot of the knives we talk about here most of the time, but boy they sure get the job done!

My antique yellow Farm Boy is probably still my favorite knife from GEC, and I've also got a rust red (yet to be carried, sort of a backup) and a bright yellow TC Day's Work, which has the same blade configuration. It is similar to Case's Mini Trapper, with some notable differences: the handle is straight instead of the curved trapper-style, the spey blade is positioned in front of the clip instead of behind, which allows for my favorite difference, which is the shape of the clip point blade itself. I much prefer the fuller clip point blade on the Farm Boy over the slim Turkish or California style clip point on the Case. Here are a couple side-by-side comparison photos I took a while back (sorry for the poor indoor lighting; I think when I took these I meant to retake them later in the daylight and just never got around to it).

Here's a better photo of the Farm Boy to make up for the poor quality of those comparison shots. :D

Speaking of poor quality photos, I carried my 2017 BF TC Barlow for the first time today, and apparently this is the only photo I took of it. (There isn't much use for a knife when replacing a kitchen faucet, but it did help open the box and few little plastic baggies containing parts and pieces.)

That Farm Boy is a great looking knife, Barrett, I can definitely see why it is a favorite, it has a lot wonderful charm to it.

A pleasure Barrett, I like the fact we have several of the same knives! :)

It's been a long-time since I paddled any white water, but the sight of those rapids still got me excited! :D

Some great pics in your post Barrett :)

I'm carrying all-stag today, out of synch as usual! :D Have a good week folks

I love the stag, Jack! And the pictures are terrific!

View attachment 789609 Again...got its first battle scar across the blade yesterday finishing up the tile in the wife’s new “ mud room “. I really can’t say enough about this simple rugged good looking jack.
There is, based on the last 5 days of carry, a very good chance the Buck 303 has met its match. I’ve always loved the look of a swell end jack but for some unknown reason had never given one a fair shake as a tool until now. Very impressed.

I really like the looks of those spear point 15s, looks like you are putting it through its paces. Such a classic looking knife, I hope GEC does more of those in the future.

The jig's up! Smooth bone today. A Case pattern 85 Doctor's Knife (1974) and a Case pattern 20 Peanut (1978).

That Doctor's knife almost looks like it has been clad in some sort of horn! Beautiful knife, nonetheless.

It’s been a while, since I’ve been out here. I finally rotated my weekly rotation. It was more like a month the last time I rotated. I’ve missed a lot on the forum, so please excuse, my absenteeism and possible lack of reply. I enjoy all of the Porch’s members and hope all of you are doing well.

I meant to do all the same bone, but I forgot the Fremont is camel. I’m posting a few pics, so all sides are shown. I really enjoy the stripes on the giraffe bone on the small #25 frame. I picked the Lincoln, because it matched the leaves here currently.

Today’s choice. I love both of these items. The Fremont is my favorite slippie.

Nice compilation!
Not all the Northwoods knives appeal to me much. However, I would be pretty happy with the Fremont and/or the Presidential. Those two in particular really catch my fancy.

Cory, I would love to see more pics of that one!

The #72 is a constant companion and the #66 rides back up in a side pocket. #76 Gunstock in the jacket. View attachment 789822

I am pretty picky when it comes to stag, as not all stag is created equal. However, I have a preference for deep, dark stag and your 66 is an exercise in exquisite perfection!

Johnny, that is a sure enough gorgeous Roper you got there. I like my stag, but yours is truly primo!

You are sporting some excellent stag today too!

View attachment 789839 Love these case jack knives ! Case tested stamp on this rough black model . Strong snap !

I am not much of a Case guy and I find most of their modern stuff rather lackluster. However, I really love their older jack knives and this one you have is an excellent example!

I am carrying a couple that have become regular inhabitants of my pockets as of late. The elegant Guardians Edition Lambfoot and the stout Churchill.

Boker today

I had one of these a long time ago, it was my first Barlow.

I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before, Barrett, but your Farm Boy is one of my top ten favorite knives that isn't mine. :):thumbsup:

Seriously, the covers on that knife have so much color and depth I have to drag my eyes away. I can see why you like that one!

Speaking of favorite knives; this is one of yours that I particularly like how it looks, Jack. Another knife that just shouts, "look at me!"

I'm on a theme here, Buzz. Camillus just got this one right, nay, perfect!:thumbsup: Another favorite knife I like to look at. :)

My carries today are my ubiquitous winter knife, the Presidential, and my Case Jr. Scout. The scout is one of those knives that disappears in your pocket until it is needed. It's also a great CE and CF knife.

Both great lookin' knives, great pic.

Good comparison of the 15 and the Mini Trapper...I like these kind of posts. I agree with the consensus on the coloration and jigging on the handles. GEC’s antique yellow is I think their best looking jigged bone.
