What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I hope the day finds you all well. I'm a little sad today, for the passing of our friend Bob and for the pain and sorrow visited on that little Texas town.
Eldon Talley City Knife is tagging along today.

Nice vittles and very nice knife. I've never seen a fixed blade with a gunstock handle. Pretty cool.

Peregrin Peregrin Eldon is building balisongs now. It's a shame, he built some really fine traditional knives.
I did see that. If I recall correctly he was a protégé of Steve Johnson's. My City Knife is pretty much flawless. I'd bet he makes an excellent balisong.

Like many today the passing of Bob weighs heavy, add an overcast, cold snowy day to the mix and it adds to the weight a bit. I finished my chores outside and just checked the mailbox on the way into the house. A new Natural Micarta Bull Moose was waiting for me to open it up and drop it in my pocket, after a sharpening session of course;) I know Bob always enjoyed a new arrival and knowing that put a smile on my face.
First impressions are good:thumbsup:

If they’d have made that second blade a wharncliff, I wouldn’t have passed on them. Or, better yet, put a third blade in there as a wharncliff and shorten up the spear blade a bit.... oh wait....lol

....or Barlows! Barlows have been a favorite of mine for around 60 years now, then I bought my first stockman in 1970. Those are the two patterns that I keep coming back to.

I never did bond with Barlow’s. Beautiful knives but just not for me I don’t feel. But stockman. My grandpa carried one (I still have it), his dad carried one, my dad carried a buck one exclusively until he lost use of one arm. So I guess it’s ingrained in me.

Have any more pictures of that Midnight Special you could share?

First chance I get I’ll take a few more.

Thanks everyone who responded. It appears that some people are able to see the pictures from my old image host and some are not. I am going to switch to a different host so hopefully everyone will be able to see the images again.
Here is the second image from the new host, PM me if it does not show.

There is certainly an air of sadness on the forums these last several days and though I have largely been quite busy, I would be telling a lie if I said the heaviness here hasn't helped keep me away more than I would care to admit. Bob will surely be missed, the Porch is diminished without him.

That being said, I have enjoyed reading through the tributes and the kind thoughts and memories everyone has of him. Though I didn't get to know him that well in the short time I have been here, he was one I learned to look up to quite early on and I always enjoyed his posts.

I do not have any knives of Bob's but this one in particular that I am carrying today reminds me of one he had displayed somewhat recently, a #35 Drover in Ebony that he had modded the main from a Spear to a Clip. He did a beautiful job too and, of course, his photography was always a pleasure to see.

Bob,

Go dté tú slán, mo caraid.
