Whew! Stunning pairing.
Much appreciated!:)

Great pairing Ron, spectacular pile side on your Guardians Lambsfoot :)
Thank you Jack! I couldn’t be more pleased with my Guardian Lambsfoot! This one and Midnight are both beauties in my eye!:)

I'm glad your internet is up and running again, Jack. Nice pair today!

Great choices for the pocket, Ron.
Thank you Gary!:) Have a great Thanksgiving!

Ah, at last!

Will do Jack. I'd love to meet you and Donn, and other locals. I'm just know that I'm going to be subject to the dictates of She Who Must Be Obeyed, so I probably won't have much leeway. But maybe a short train trip to a pub could be granted! This would be sometime next August. Thanks very much!

So thankful to own such beautiful tools as these.
So excited to be working on this Stanley no. 7 21". I picked up this huge plane for only 15$. It isn't broken at all and I think once I clean it it'll be ready to put to work as my first jointed. I also picked up these stanley measuring tools. They're sweet too! I love old tools.

I am wishing all y'all a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. Encouraged by a few denizens of this thread, I am putting a couple of my carry knives to culinary capers today. Just collected some honey mushrooms (from the wilds of my backyard) and will break them down for mushroom gravy to serve tomorrow with sausage and cornbread dressing. Also have my Queen Country Cousin as a back-up.

Peace out!

I can not argue with you about Northern England . Personally , I have been in the Yorkshire area more than anywhere else and I like it a lot . Yorkshire Pud is one of my very favorite foods . Mushy Peas & Chips too . But then again , there are many other places in the world that are very nice .

Harry

Absolutely O.E, theres great places everywhere! I reckon my other favourites would be Yosemite, and another is Tasmania, which I almost emigrated to 3 years ago; somewhere I can heartily recommend to visit.

Good morning, everyone!

I'm afraid the last week or so has found me quite busy and I have not had a lot of time to post much lately. Everyone is and has been carrying some very fine knives though! These two are indicative of what has been residing in my pockets as of late and today is no exception.

And since I am in quite the good mood today, as I am finishing out the work week and am very much looking forward to an extended holiday weekend, please enjoy this tune from one of my very favorite fiddlers. If you are in sore spirits, this will surely lift them up!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

The north of England is in my opinion one of the nicest parts of the world. We don't have towering mountain ranges or endless tracts of wilderness, and your never that far from a road or village, but outside of our cities there is a bleak beauty to our upland fells. Generally they look like this:

Thanks for the panoramic vista, donn!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanksgiving week carry. Everyday pocketknife is the Queen City Canoe, larger single blade stag is my 73, and for looks nothing in my pocket can beat John Lloyd.

Thanks Gary. How is that cracked ice Imperial canoe? Do the celluloid covers have the same problem as the older celluloid?
The Imperial canoe was very inexpensive, but seems well-built to me. I'm hoping the covers are NOT the old-fashioned celluloid, but that may be wishful thinking. afishhunter once corresponded with Rough Rider and was told that their knives with "celluloid" covers would not outgas, but I know of no such claim by any Taylor Brands (I guess it's now Battenfeld Technologies that owns the Schrade and Imperial names) representative.

Thanks for the info, btw that keen kutter is pretty sweet.
Thanks, H&S. :)

Howdy! First post, though I have been hanging around here on the porch for a bit. Great place to hang out! I love stockman, this is my current favorite.

Thanks much,
Josh

Welcome to The Porch, Josh; that's a high-quality Queen stockman!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

Today with my new Portuguese made by the artisan Francisco Cangueiro of Palaçoulo-Miranda do Douro, in horn of bovine, with the tip in stag.
Also has 440 stainless steel blade and linerlock!!!

Congratulations on your superb new knife, Pt-Luso!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'm keeping about 8-10 of my stags, the Lloyd of course and a few specials. I've become enamored of the canoe patten so I'll be chasing those. I was accumulating willy nilly with no target. By reducing the collection it allows me to have a reason to keep buying. Sounds like justification to me.
@Old Engineer
Harry, So far I have a Northwoods, Queen City and a Case. I'd like to get the GEC 16 Little Indian Girl but so far the two I've found are very expensive and they seem to be as scarce as hens teeth.
Very interesting, Alan, and good luck in your pursuit of captivating canoes!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: You already have three champions!:thumbsup: I own more canoes than any other pattern (although I gravitate to the "economy" end of the market). I occasionally kick myself over my failure to pick up a GEC canoe when canoes first caught my fancy. GECs tend to be outside my budget, but I considered springing for a "special" one if I could find a model I liked that shared a birthday with me. Turns out IIRC that both an ebony and a rust red jigged bone GEC 16 were released on my birthday, and back in those days, they were sitting in dealers' stock for "reasonable prices" for a GEC. But I delayed, and then they were eventually gone. :(

Nice! I never get tired of ebony barehead jacks, and that's a sweet one!

This week, I've decided to carry my Guardians Lambfoot, and my Girl Scout Knife.

My brothers are both coming to visit, and I pulled out their old Forrest-Masters for them. (gave 'em a little cleaning and oiling) If they want to take them home, we'll have to mail them.

Everyone have a happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks, r8shell, although evidence suggests the handles of that Keen Kutter are cocobolo.

Sensational pair you've selected for Thanksgiving week!:thumbsup::cool:
I hope your brothers like seeing the old Forest-Masters; my first knife was one like the black one!

Very nice 897UH. The local store had one, but by the time I decided that I wanted it, it was gone. I've recently noticed those Schrade (USA) stockmans really sharpen up nicely. I'm keeping my eyes open for another one to show up.
Thanks, Ace. :)

Thanks for the pics, deltaboy!:thumbsup:

Thank you, GT. I really appreciate the info. My search ended at a sale site.

GT, I am stunned and humbled by the information that you found and by your generous effort on my behalf. That post truly is fascinating and I have put the LB-1 away for the day. I will note that The Codger gives the closed length as 3 5/8" (as does the information for one currently at auction online), but mine is very much 3 1/4" closed with serial # on the mark side inner liner, as well as LB1 U.S.A. under S.W. CUT. on the main tang. So much for that cute little knife in the corner of the box.
- Stuart
Glad to help, Stuart. :) Sounds like there are still mysteries associated with the knife. Did you end up buying another??

Thanks for the link, Josh.:cool: I spent too much time reading 12 pages of fascinating facts and opinions, and don't regret doing it! ;)

That's a beauty, Pomsbz!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I have one just like it that I'm very happy to own! :)

First outing for this one today.
Congrats on the new stag lambsfoot, bonzodog!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks pal, nice carries

Thanks, Jack; you're toting a premium pair yourself!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I hope your internet woes are short-lived!

Wow Gary, it's a good think my name didn't start with a "T." You outdid yourself with the thesaurus this time. Thanks for the comment as always.

The canoe has been calling to me lately and I guess I'll take a chance on the Imperial. I'll just keep it separate from all its brothers.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
