What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Not only are these two doctors, they are cousins, too. The larger (3 3/4" closed) is a CHIPAWAY CUTLERY CO. doctors knife. ChipAway was a trademark used by E.C. Simmons from 1891-1920. The other is an E.C. SIMMONS ST. LOUIS marked doctors knife (3 1/4" closed) that is also marked KEEN KUTTER on the bottom bolster. That trademark used from 1868-1960. They leave plenty of room in my pockets compared to the Hobo and the Coke bottle hunter that I carried yesterday

5K Qs 5K Qs Thanks for the gracious comments, GT. Your Case half congress is exquisite, in the fullest sense, and that buckshot bone on the Colt is new to me (and appreciated greatly). What a display! The more I look, the more I learn. Love the Porch!

Outstanding, GT. Simply outstanding!:thumbsup::cool:
Thanks for the supportive comments, Stuart and Dirk. :) Colt no longer makes knives, but it seems Rough Rider has added some buckshot bone models to their line-up.

I am sure they have been paired together many times. :D

Thanks for the very kind words about my 2 old TEWs my friend . I really like to carry them too . They are just 2 of the finest Old Knives that I have ever handled . I think that they are at least on par with the Old Cattaraugus knives that I have handled . They are really great work knives and take a great edge .
Your Guardian's covers look pretty deep and nice . How are you liking it by now ??

Never heard of it before, too and there a not a lot of informations on the internet about it. But I found out on AAPK , that they were not producing knifes by themselves, only engaged other companies to build knives for them. The company was (or still is) located in Forest City N.C. (btw.it seems, Burnt Chimney was the former name of Forest City) and run by Marshall Hardin who owned a pharmacy and sold knives. And they were obviously reliable enough to be appointed to build the annual youth knife for NKCA

Smashing photograph of your Unicorn !!!

Looking great!
I really like that Chipaway.
I didnt realize that the "doctor" pattern had a flattened bolster on one end.
