What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I see what you did there. Clever.
- Stuart
:) We have these " Book Box" stations all around the neighborhood ( take/exchange/share a book) and I check them on my walks. The Dickens book has been in one for a year  Your Hunter collection is magnificent. I love seeing it !!!

Thank you, Jack! I certainly have you to thank for such a beautiful knife. You are carrying a great duo today, the 25 and the Lambsfoot are a match made in heaven.

Wooden Wednesday dictates I must have wood clad knives in my pockets today. Should be no trouble...

Superlative serpentine jack, Gev, and the purple gives the picture some "Pow!":cool::thumbsup:

Thanks GT ! I try to embrace winter and enjoy it as much as possible !
:thumbsup::cool: I looked through my knife pics, and I don't have a single one that's outdoors in the snow.

AFAIK there were ( and still is in at least one case) several companies with the name Altenbach in Solingen. This particular knife seems to be produced by a company named Heinrich Altenbach from Oligs/Solingen, first mentioned 1925 (don´t know if they are still in business). I found this knife on a fleamarket and didn´t find much informations about it. But I think you´re right: it´s from the ´50s or ´60s. These "fake" MOP was popular on knifehandles in this time, I got 2 more of them, but way smaller than this one. They have a wonderfull 3-dimensional appearance and it´s a little bid sad, that this style is gone while the times they are a´changing ;-)
Thanks for the additional info, Dirk. :)

Thanks, GT, it is a fulsome knife.

"Fulsome" is a cool word! ;)

...
Thank you very much my friend . The " crinkly bone " is some pretty decent jigged bone and the Easy Open is actually by Imperial Prov R.I. which really surprised me . The camp type knife is made by ?????? and I had been waiting a long time for them to get down to a reasonable price. I paid 1/2 what they originally wanted . We will have to go out amongst them next year and see what we can find .

Harry
Thanks for more details, Harry.

Thanks, GT! I was taking a page from your book and trying out a knife photo with Christmas decorations (though there aren't many out at our house this year; it's hard to rationalize unpacking things that are already packed at this point).

Today I'm carrying my #13 Speaker Jack, shown here with a little seasonal reading material.

Good point about packing, Barrett. ;) I like your seasonal photos!:thumbsup:

New 78 again today, in the house.

Today in my pocket and on my wrist, an extraordinary TC barlow knife and a beautiful Steinhart mechanical watch !!!

Captivating spear/pen stag Barlow, Dirk!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

This Union Cutlery hobo is a boon for those who choose to use their slip joints for culinary purposes (I like the long clip main and the dog head shield). The clip blade is 4 3/8" long with a tight swedge at the end in the nail mark that then widens and narrows toward the tip. I couldn't get a decent picture of it (you will note that the camera angle distorts the perspective in the final picture. Tang is stamped Union Cut. Co. Olean N.Y. U.S.A. on clip and PAT. NOV. 5 th 1907 on the fork. This Union Cutlery was in business 1911-1951.

Advantageous, arboraceous duos for Wednesday, r8shell, Tom, and Dylan!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

In (belated) honor of Wooden Wednesday, I am putting the Hammer Brand Coke bottle hunter that is pictured second from the right in my heavy coat pocket when I brave the blustery cold today. The Union Hobo will be in the other pocket and a trusty SAK Recruit in my fleece-lined jeans pocket.

There's a quality quintet, any one of which would probably help keep you grounded on a blustery day!;)

Camillus c. 1946-1956 Rusted but hardly used. Cleaned and oiled now and will be carried and used to mitigate the remaining rust. Once cleaned up, I happily found it snaps like a snapping turtle. Fantastic walk and talk. Sharp as the Dickens now. A Christmas Story :)

Dschall, I will not be giving that book to Mrs Fleshwund for Christmas!
I would love to gift her that Tidiute, but she says her Leatherman and Vik Classic are the only things she wants to carry.
You're right, it's not really a Christmas book, but it is a good dark read. Mrs. Dschal has no interest in knives, sadly, but yarn....

Wooden Wednesday after the storm.

5K Qs 5K Qs Thanks for the gracious comments, GT. Your Case half congress is exquisite, in the fullest sense, and that buckshot bone on the Colt is new to me (and appreciated greatly). What a display! The more I look, the more I learn. Love the Porch!

New 78 again today, in the house.

Did any one else read the word "cleaning" as a gerund, rather than an adjective, at first? :D

Lol!
Too cold out to take her out and hose her down!

Actually, I thought it was like a manual for cleaning up after the husband. That wouldn’t go over too well.

Thanks for the compliment on my old Camillus!
