What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today with a Sabre - Japan!!!

Good looking covers on that Bull Moose!

I first visited the Rawah Wilderness in 1977...great trip! Back then you could camp right at Blue Lake. Scramble to the top of Clark Peak for some epic views!
I went in July and the wildflowers were breathtaking. Didn’t see any moose, though.
Thank you, sir! We're going to be north of Clark Peak but tentative plans are to top out South and North Rawah peaks and camp at some of the off trail lakes. If you happen to recall a favorite sitr, please shoot me a PM. Details on anything off trail are sparse on the net but I guess that's the point.

Sounds like a fantastic trip  Great pic, and an excellent Moose. I have a couple of vintage map-measurers (with compass) just like that :thumbsop:
Thanks! Good eye, that's indeed what it is, compass on the reverse side...although I wouldn't trust it to find my way out of my garage. The measurer is still reasonably accurate and still fulfills its role, with some conversion being necessary.

SBJ today

Andi, you certainly own an amazing group of classic pocket knives!!:cool::thumbsup:

Haven't carried this one at all since it's arrival. I know that this Mustang has darkened considerably cover wise since it arrived. The camel bone was almost white and since it has been in storage it has darkened noticeably:thumbsup::cool: I like it much better now that the covers have aged a bit.

My #74 Mustang has been my EDC since I got it around Thanksgiving. You might enjoy that I had a EZ open notch added. Great knives. Your White bone is a beauty. Pardon my fixed blade in the picture.

Paul & hamsco, those 74s are handsome knives!:cool::thumbsup: Paul, that your camel bone will darken even without handling is just another surprising fact about the world of knives for me!!:cool:

Same ol knife, new way to carry it. Works a treat.

Congrats on the horizontal pouch, Gary!:thumbsup: "Same ol knife" is still absolutely stunning!:thumbsup::cool:

Such an attractive sleeveboard, Heirphoto!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: IMHO, the 26 is more compelling than the 25. ;)

Working the midnight shift and like Folsome prison, time keeps dragging on.
Just imagine how time would drag WITHOUT your stunning stag, johnny!! ;):thumbsup:

The Vic went down to Canary islands, the island of Palma. What a great trip we had, me and my wife.

Electrifying photo, @HFinn !! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

I'm carrying these two today, a Lambsfoot in ebony by Arthur Wright, and a Sleeveboard by William Rodgers

Compelling couple, Jack, with their contrasting covers!:thumbsup::cool:

Seems like I either love or hate the look of specific acrylic covers. Travman, yours is in the "Love" category.:cool::cool:

Thank you all for the birthday greetings! :)
Now, the holiday season is officially over, and I've got to get to a regular schedule. It's Wooden Tuesday, right?

:D:D Regular schedules are more challenging as we age! ;)

Not as rare as one might think. Queen has produced D2 scouts in the last few years with long pull main blades. Older stainless steel Western scouts have long pulls on all of the tools, and are very easy to find on auction. There's even a Sears Craftsman scout that is very common on auction, that has a long pull main blade.
Buzz, the depth and breadth of your scout knowledge astounds me!!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: You're a "scout savant" (and not the "idiot savant" variety ;))!

One of the benefits of a hobby is the opportunity to learn something new at any moment. Today, I learned that the presence of a spey blade on a pen knife, in my case here a senator pen, creates an office knife. The spey is intended to be used to "erase" ink and is called an eraser blade in that setting. A Union Cutlery office knife from 1911-1951 and an Imperial 3 blade senator from 1935-1945. I like the cute little bolsters on both.

That pair is phenomenal, Stuart!!:cool::cool::thumbsup: Captivating covers, and intriguing tip bolsters!

Thanks GT, it became one of my favourites very soon. And it´s good to know, that they came back to the good from the past. Klaas build several of their old patterns again in the last months, but this one is their top of the list, IMHO.
BTW: nice spain made knife. Got several from Spain, all well made and a wonderfull design. I think, Salamandra also produces for Puma IP, there are several identical models.
Thanks for the interesting info, Dirk! :)

Welcome to The Porch, Babalu32! :) Great pic of your pruner!:thumbsup:

That's a lovely new stag folder you have, GT!Thanks! It's a nice thought, but I don't think we get smoother as we age. :p Skin gets wrinklier and personalities pricklier. :p
...
Thanks, r8shell. :) Skin does get wrinklier, but I prefer to think of it as taking on a more stag-like appearance! :D

5K Qs 5K Qs Thank you, GT, for giving my "ordinary knives" a lift. I use the handy Fight'n Rooster to trim my occasional cigar, but your kind comments have gone to its head and it will only agree to cut small pieces of string cheese from now on. You shared a bevy of beautiful and useful blades. I like the stag handle and clean design of your sweet Spanish slicer, and the key chain gadget and the OT look ready to go to work.

Sorry my comment has your FR putting on airs, Stuart. ;) Thanks for the kind comments on my Christmas knives. :)

Ev’ry dimple tells a story don’t it...
I haven't listened to that album in years! Thanks for the reminder, AF! :):thumbsup:

I was properly punished as a child for leaving tools laying about. :D

Chillin' with the ox horn Lambsfoot on this rainy day.

Thanks a lot GT, very generous of young Jack, and your wife, they have great taste :) I got one of those Blazers too! :D

My carry today :)

Thanks for the comments, Jack. :) I like your veterinarian pair today (lamb/doctor).:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Lovely covers! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

More recent acquisitions I'm carrying this week while I revise my rotation schedule.
These two Case knives were my first purchases from the Exchange. I bought them last month as a birthday gift to myself.

Please excuse my previous post, I have been trying to post a photo but just when I think I have made it nada! So back to the drawing board.
There's a thread in Tech Support that might help. If that doesn't help and you want to leave me an email address on a profile post I can try and help. Here's a link to the thread; Posting Pictures

My inherent need for doubles drove me to this beauty by Mike Zscherny. Rarely do I buy traditionals with micarta covers but the fit and finish on this knife is amazing, hand picked at Tulsa knife show.

UTX-85 hits a sweet spot for size and must admit it's handy ... kicked a gen 3 LCC/DA out of my pocket.

With it's mammoth twin, need for doubles complete.
