What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I'm in need of some help, I have a few questions particularly directed toward staff or gold members. They go like this:
1. Is my membership sufficient enough to buy things from or make posts in the Trading/Selling forums?

2. If I wanted a certain knife, and had a few knives I'm willing to trade to get it, is my membership sufficient enough to make a post ( a post showing my interest in said knife and what I've got for trade) like that, and where would I post it? (And if my membership isn't which one should I get to get those privileges?)

I'd really appreciate your help. Thank you.

I hope your magnificent knives can abate your frustration over the multiquotes misfire, Jack! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, Jack. :) I have a couple of "exotic" Imperials on my kitchen counter lately - see below. :D

Some very attractive wood, Travman and Leslie!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: I'm guessing bocote for Travman's EO sheepsfoot 25, but what's the nicely-grained wood on your new Opinel, Leslie?

Thanks, Ron. :) It's hard to believe that it was only 3 years ago that I won that knife in Bob's GAW before his first surgery.
I like your "micarta pair" today! :thumbsup::cool::p:p (That photo of your Midnight Special makes the horn look to me like micarta with that grain.)

Ooh, la, la, JTB_5 JTB_5 ! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup:

Sweet stag on that jack, Jeff!! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks for the info, @willard0341 . :) That Esquire looks like treasure! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

... Contented sigh ... What a knife, Rob! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Desirable duo, Stuart! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: I enjoy seeing the striking TC Barlows and the Northfield 77 Barlows around here, but I think I'd rather just have a nice nostalgic vintage model. ;):cool::cool:

I picked up some DMT Diafolds a while back, and my wife gave me a Flexcut strop and some Flexcut gold compound for Christmas, so I was "honing" my feeble sharpening skills on a couple of my old Imperials. And much to my surprise, both blades on both of these knives are much sharper after relatively little time spent! :confused::eek::thumbsup::thumbsup::D I've been amazed how well they've been performing on food prep this week! (Both pictured before the recent successful sharpening sessions.)

Thanks pal, nice to see the Imperials :) :thumbsup:

The #25, a very kind gift from Barrett, is micarta, but I also like white bone :thumbsup:

Jack Black Jack Black , Jack, I might stand to be corrected, but I do not think your 25 is micarta. I believe it is a rare Unicorn Ivory acrylic. I am not joking about the name, GEC actually calls it that. Only a handful of them made it through the manufacturing process due to the material not cooperating. Barrett gave you a very beautiful and highly collectible knife. Below is my Pioneer Bone 25 Barlow from the same run.

Resplendent Barlows, Dean! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: The script Barlow stamp on the Catt is one of my all-time favorites, and the 2-blade sawcut Camillus is a quintessential Barlow IMHO! :thumbsup::thumbsup:;)

Thank you for the compliments, Gary! Also, I like seeing those two venerable Imperials.

I miss Spring, which is not here, but not my I*XL Barlow, which is in my pocket today.

I find myself carrying the Schrade 881 more and more when I'm at home. I really like the fact that it has somewhat rounded corners and edges to make it feel pretty comfortable when using.
I'd like to think old Dick Proenneke would've carried something similar in his pocket.

That’s a great looking knife...really nice covers! What do they call that pattern? Not really a Dogleg and not really a Gunstock?

It really is a hybrid, ratbert. It's probably closest to a Eureka, but it sure does have some qualities of all three mentioned. I've never seen its like from any other maker.

And SVTFreak, that's a gorgeous Warren stockman!

Thanks Leslie, I remember the Unicorn Ivory part! :confused: :D He certainly did, it's very special to me :) :thumbsup:

Perfect working man’s knife. I’ve always been intrigued by Dick Proenneke and the life he carved out for himself in Alaska. I certainly could see him carrying a Stockman like this.
I seem to remember him always sharpening his tools after every use, axes and saws.
