What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Well...
I have been wanting a Buck 110 since I was a kid. There was a picture of one in the book "Outdoor Survival" by J. Wayne Fears. Still regard this as my favourite survival manual. Anyways, my dad had a copy of the book and I must have ready it cover to cover nearly 10 times. Even as a boy, i was a knife nut and would dwell on the beautiful Buck under the "Knives section.

18 to 20 years later and I now have one of my own. Put off the purchase for many years because I never NEEDED it but boy I have long wanted it. A terrible photo but here she is.

Welcome to the 110 family! I've had mine for about 40 years now.

It's a beauty, and made even more so by the personal story of how you fell under her spell and finally gave in. Engraved initials is a nice touch.

'Bout right! Congrats, everyone should have that joy. (I had it several times, as "mine" often got "borrowed away".)

Fantastic lambsfoot pairing, Jack! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Although I wonder if page 222 doesn't call for 3 lambsfoot pairs from the Captain of the Guardians!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup::D

...I echo your concern for Jack's chronic cough!:confused::eek: Jack, a second opinion sounds like a smashing (and logical) idea! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thank you my friend! :D I did end up carrying a third knife in the end, the Carl Schlieper I'm carrying again today, as I needed a good awl for my DIY :thumbsup: Thanks for your concern about my cough too, increasingly hard to get to see a doctor here unfortunately, but I will try to get to see one. It does seem to be starting to get a little better :) Three great-looking knives there. I'm carrying three myself :eek: ;) :thumbsup:

This knife used to be something of a grail knife for me. Now it is a fine knife, but it has one major issue: I find the vertical blade play annoying, allthough the play is minor. True, that can be feature many traditional backlocks have but I have experienced lockbacks (usually middle locks) that are very solid. I would like it more without it. It does not make it any less usefull and visually it is as pleasing as allways.

That color is appealing.

Thanks for asking, GT. My wife and I just celebrated our seventh anniversary (which I guess is the copper anniversary), so she got me the custom copper covered Vic classic as a gift. The olive green Case peanut is what I carried on our weeding day. I also gave them as gifts to my groomsmen - and was pleasantly surprised when one of them pulled it out of his pocket to use a couple weeks ago; none of my good friends being knife knuts and all.
Mike, you're such a man of mystery!! :eek: What's up with this dynamite duo? Is that a custom Vic Classic engraved with a meaningful date for you? And how about some more info about that super-handsome Case?

Congrats on the Queen Barlow, herder! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: I think the rounded bolsters on those Queens are top-notch!

That ebony Churchill is the cat's meow, man! :thumbsup::cool: I'd love a knife like that with a spear instead of a clip, but one of the draws of a Churchill for me is the 1217 in the model number, since that's been my house number for 35 years, and a spearpoint version would become 2217 (I think). :rolleyes:

Toledo was a fantastic city to visit when I was in Spain (but I liked ALL of the places my daughter took me - Sevilla, Granada, Valencia, Denia - for different reasons :cool::thumbsup:). I bought 2 knives while I was in Toledo (seems like at least every other store has knives/swords for sale), and I have at least 4 more that my daughter bought in Toledo as gifts for me since out visit. :)

Thanks, Ron! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:;) If you're open to more requests, another WW Daily Double would be the Osage Orange 73 and Dixie!! :thumbsup::cool::p

Splendid Euro pair, Joshua! :cool::cool::thumbsup: More curiosity from me: what's the dragon thing in your signature??

Fantastic lambsfoot pairing, Jack! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Although I wonder if page 222 doesn't call for 3 lambsfoot pairs from the Captain of the Guardians!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup::D

Definitely achieved symmetry (or very near it) over a vertical line!! :cool::thumbsup:;) (Next you should look for a pair of knives that would give you symmetry over both vertical AND horizontal lines. :rolleyes:) My goodness, that curved Böker shield looks great on that congress pattern! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Captivating couple, Ron! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

This all seems so out of character for you, Buzz!! :confused::eek:;):D

Thanks for your initial impressions of your 56s, Dylan; I look forward to seeing more in the 56 thread. :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
By the time late February rolls around, I'm definitely NOT hoping for a lot more snow! :mad::rolleyes: You PNW types must be nuts!! :D
That photo is sublime! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup: But it reminds me of an old Sunday School song: "Red and Yellow, Black and White, They are precious in His sight." :cool::thumbsup: You could probably lay out all four colors from the song! ;)

You and me both, sir! :(

Another superb Otter classic, donn! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: And I echo your concern for Jack's chronic cough!:confused::eek: Jack, a second opinion sounds like a smashing (and logical) idea! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Couple of stellar Remingtons, Stuart! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: That cocobolo trapper is heavy-duty!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup: (I haven't had summer sausage for 6 months, but now you've got me yearning for some! :mad::rolleyes:)

Enchanting, Gev!! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Just out of this world, Leslie!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I'm happy to see how pleased you are with your new stainless stag 73, Senhor Pinto!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::)

Many thanks Mr. GT, but I'm really happy with this new knife.
I usually bought smaller knives up to 3 1/2 "but now I think 3 3/4" is my ideal size, fits perfectly by hand, so for now it is be my daily companion!!!

Nixelplix Nixelplix That Western 49 is a big tease, but that Browning is an obvious treasure, Thanks for sharing some of both.
- Stuart

Thank you! Here is an early morning picture of them before I head out to work. I bought the W49 from a Cabella's catelog as a teenager in the 80's, and I received the Browning when someone gave me a "box of knives" back in the 90s. It was one of the best in the bunch.
