What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Have these in my pocket today

One of them has some pretty Fat Stag

Carrying these 2 remind me of me of when we went to Yellowstone in 2015 . I carried these then because they had blades way less than 3 inches.
One of my favorite spots in the world to visit . We have been there 4 times and have our reservations for this year .

Please forgive me for remembering .

Playin' with a couple Camilli at my desk this morning. Early 2000s square bolster, and early 1980s round bolster.

“Camilli” :):)
Couple of beauties that look to be in fantastic shape!

Thanks, Rat, they're both really fine knives, with good firm 6 pulls and plenty of snap. It's funny, in spite of the fact that they don't look at all "real," the stag jigged delrin knives float my boat a lot more than the sawcut delrin do. I love the Uncle Henrys as well, both folding and fixed blades.

Already more than 48 hours behind in this thread :eek:, but I'm going to try to catch up in some kind of random, slipshod way. Oh, wait, that describes ALL my posts! :rolleyes:

...
When I first got it I sanded down some high spots and applied a very light coating of brown leather dye to darken up the white spots left by the sanding and that turned into the mellow yellow it is now.(the mark side is very pithy so the dye really soaked in)
Here it is right after the sanding and dyeing, without the 3+ years of pocket time....

And as of a few weeks ago....

It has aged nicely imo.
Wish I could say the same for myself. ; )
Thanks for the cool "time-lapse" photography, mykel! :thumbsup::cool:

Thanks GT, that's an interesting* Sod Buster ya got there.

(*Interesting means I likey.:thumbsup:)
Thanks. :) I bought it in Granada Spain, and despite my daughter's best efforts to explain that I wanted and could take care of a carbon steel model, I discovered when I got home that it was actually stainless.

Imperial 2 blade Jack!
Thanks for the ID, deltaboy; great-looking knife! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

The only wizard I know is Harry Potter. But, I do aim for critical sharpness.
:thumbsup:;)

...
Thanks, Gary. I had never noticed the sunken joints until I read your post. The funny thing is the spay blade is not sunk but the other two are. The length is about 3 3/4"
...
Thanks for the info about the "semi sunk" joints. :)

Trying to take it EZ today:D

I really like that pattern, Will, :cool::thumbsup: but I'm guessing that knife exemplifies at least a couple of features of knives that you often criticize (pin craters and verdigris from brass liners :().

Same here GT, with the dentist at least, and that is at least the third occassion I've had an appointment cancelled, at very short notice, in the past couple of years. The receptionist rang me five minutes before my appointment the other day, and asked me if I was on my way, as if I might not have been. I told her, "Yes, otherwise I would have been late." o_O

Thank you my friend, cool Martinez and an interesting Marbles Scout :thumbsup:
...
We still have snow here. I'm hoping I can get out for a hike tomorrow and see a bit more of it. In the meantime, I'm carrying these two :thumbsup:

Health care professionals at their finest! :confused: Thanks for the knife niceties. :) By this time of year, I'm much less curious about snow than you apparently are! ;) Fabulous Ankermesser! :cool::thumbsup:

... The slide rule in the photo is one of about 30 that a retiring middle school teacher gave me about 10 years ago. She offered me her giant over-the-chalkboard demo model, too, but I turned that down....
- GT
I'll bet you've regretted it since.

Thanks! That big sliderule would be fun to have but would definitely fall into the category of "what do I do with it and where do I keep it?". :p
The giant slide rule was very cool, Jer, but Ace describes my thinking very accurately. I couldn't see myself putting on outdoor gear during the winter and saying, "I'm headed out to the detached, dark, unheated garage to mess with my big slide rule!" :(

This Case canoe is my every day office knife
Your canoe is dandy, @popedandy !! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

What has certainly become my favorite pair.
Definitely well-matched, Joshua, and the "artsy" covers are such an interesting story! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

One last gentle carry for this guy before he heads off to a new home.

Very elegant, @rswanson ! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Today’s carry - this #77 is the only “bought new” barlow I own. All the rest are oldies.

cF0TDfZ.jpg
Your 77 Barlow is grand, Wayne, but IMHO the oldies are more desirable! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

The "beaded" look of that sawcut pattern is intriguing, Steve! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Churchill and Cadet

PrGDVAb.jpg
Superb duo, Jeff! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: The red Cadet isn't your usual carry, is it?

I'm taking off today for a weekend of cooking and sipping. Each year, I help some buddies with a charity wild game dinner to raise funds for the processing of donated venison that will go to community food banks through the Hunters for the Hungry program. ... I'm carrying some simple knives for opening bottles and clipping cigars over the weekend (we have plenty of actual kitchen cutlery for food prep).

Sounds like good work and a good time for a good cause, Stuart; kudos to you and all the others involved! :cool::cool::thumbsup::)

I am carrying these 2 today while I sit on our back enclosed porch in the sun going over the first knives that were gifted to me and some of the early ones that I bought .
Carrying these :

...
I have a number of other knives made by Case , but since I have started buying GEC , many of the Case knives get over looked , but that is where most of the memories are .

Harry
Very meaningful post, Harry! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup: The memories and nostalgia are the main reasons I'm here, and the value of my knives has much more to do with the memories they elicit than the price I paid for them.

For Black Friday, I have these two stellar knives.

I love that pair of Ebonics knives, Dylan!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::p

For my money, r8shell, any other knife would look good with that dignified little ebony sleeveboard! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

View attachment 859713 Got my newest with me today for some fondle time.
Congrats, Jason, that's spectacular!! :eek::cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Splendid knife, TheFactor TheFactor !! Looks like it might be too much knife for ME :rolleyes:; how big is it?

Carried the GEC 48 Improved Trapper all week. While I wear blue jeans to work everyday, it is an office environment and the 48 is a bit large to use in front of some of the more timid souls here. So I supplemented it with my little Case Red Etch Peanut. Both were a joy to carry!

Both are a joy to look at, too, Ratbert!! :cool::thumbsup::cool:
Two hours in to a thirty minute commute, still barely moving. Glad I have this 78 to play with.

Ratbert Ratbert , @Nature Boy , mitch4ging mitch4ging , @oldtymer some amazing stag previews for Stag Saturday!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool::cool:

I'm heading out for a hike 'early doors', taking these two with me :) Have a great weekend folks :thumbsup:

I like Dylan's frequent black/red pairs, but your orange and black combo also stirs the soul, Jack! Happy Hiking! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Still carrying my CSC forum knife...

Exquisite, Dean! :cool::cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: Have you officially switched to a one knife per week schedule, or is this just an anomaly?

A late entry but my 2016 EO Jack was my carry for the day.

Outstanding pattern, Paul!! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup:

The Free Choice Knife of the Week that I chose "on a whim" last Sunday was a Case pen knife that I like VERY much, pictured here with a slimline trapper (thanks, Tom) that's almost always in our kitchen:

Nice knives, Harry!

That photo of Lower Falls brings back some memories for me as well. I took a similar photo on my first trip there. We must have taken our photos from the same spot because your photo looks exactly like mine. Had it enlarged and framed and my friends all think it's a professional photo. I always tell them "not good photography, just great scenery".

I've been there twice myself. Last time was in 2000. Thanks for the memories.

Thank you very much Rick . I was not sure how the pictures would be received , so I did not post many but I think you will like these next 3 .

Awesome pics of Yellowstone Harry and your knife company was well chosen :thumbsup:

5K Qs 5K Qs it’s pretty big lol . Don’t have the dimensions handy but I must say it carry’s well in a leather slip . Really can’t tell the difference in pocket compared to much smaller ones :thumbsup:
2 more on the way I like it that much :D

GT, the red Cadet doesn't leave the house, but I've had a cold all week, and since I'm retired, I've just been wearing sweats around the house. It still looks new, since it never shares a pocket with anything else.

Thanks Gary, the 85 is a fantastic knife and I realized I needed to carry it more often. A fine duo you choose:thumbsup:
